Pat Tillman, former NFL All-Pro, KIA in Afghanistan

it wil be better covered by other sites (cnn and the like) but i just found out that pat tillman, who left a $9 million offer from the st. louis rams after playing for the arizona cardinals, where he was easily their best defensive player, was killed while fighting in afghanistan.

he was 27.. he left the nfl in his prime to enlist in the army and attempt to join the rangers, which he succeed in doing.

his brother kevin, who was a baseball propect for the cleveland indians, also join the unit.

yes, i did...i hadn't been to one since the october mini-fest (the delicious juxtapostion of commenting at a wt study followed by steak with calamity jane and the texas circuit), but i was in okla. with my son visiting my dad and stepmom last tuesday.

my dad (knowing i'm inactive) asked if i was going.. i said yes...i didn't want to start a fight.. so i went back to my old hall...boy has it shrunk.

there were 50 at a tms/sm...wereas before i could count on 90.. some came up and said hi.

ok...my sis is a few years younger than me...she was a loyal jw and even took to counseling me for things like watching movies.

then, she began to snap.

after her child was born, she saw that her husband was really, really abusive (he stopped being physical a long time ago, but he wasn't any nicer...he even forbade her from seeing our worldly mom.

I led the class in the Pledge...

just started back the school year last week.

first period, the announcements struck up, along with the pledge of allegiance.

i had since fourth grade refused to say the pledge and explained to my friends why not.

...your french rugby xv just kicked the crap out of our eagles 41-14, with nothing but backups.. at least this time we won a game...coulda won two, if we had hit a kick against fiji...wait 'till 2007!.

france is 4-0 after group play, and just pimp-slapped the whole pool, including scotland.

he was a simple, somewhat bright, but really geeky indian boy...struggled with his faith and personal problems.... .

but he found a group of great friends with shoulders to cry on and to celebrate all that was good in his life, which he a built in spite of others who claimed to be family and friends.
