I guess he wasn?t too humble when he wrongfully appointed himself president of the WTBTS after flagrantly disregarding and squelching anyone who would have voted against him.

And I guess he wasn?t too humble when he squandered an untold fortune of the Society?s assets to purchase a luxury mansion for ~~himself~~ the old patriarchs ~~in the event of~~ upon their definitely-expected resurrection when they come knocking on the front door. (Actually, even if Abraham or Noah actually did show up, he probably wouldn?t have been able to recognize them anyway if they showed up after noon because most likely he would have been into the bottle by then!)

And he certainly didn?t seem too humble when he deliberately provoked civil unrest by setting up soap-box sessions and rallies on the streets to elicit ~~public annoyance~~ foretold persecution.

?Strong? (arrogant, pompous, belligerent), yes. But ?humble?? I don?t think so. IMHO, I think he was a little too interested in pushing his own weight around.

There was, however, a leader I?ve read about who truly was ?strong, yet humble??I believe the name was Jesus Christ. He and Rutherford sure were worlds apart. (Different eras, different continents, and different classes altogether!)

most jws seem to be "devout" in that they go to 5 meetings and out in field service.

yet, many also lived double lives.

were you a true-blue jw or were you a faker?

I was born and raised in ?the truth? for 37 years. I was a good person?never hurt anyone in any way, never involved with drugs, stealing, cheating, wild partying, or anything like that, and never wanted to.

However, I used to smoke on and off. I would buy a pack of cigarettes, usually smoke a few here and there, and then get disgusted with myself and throw away the last half of the pack. I would tell myself that I was ?calming my nerves.? (My uncle, who was in ?the truth? but had problems and became somewhat weak, started smoking after he was advised to by his psychiatrist. He was never actually disfellowshipped, but also never shunned in any way by my family.) I thought smoking was really amusing. (I used to love watching my aunts smoke like chimneys.)

Once I tried smoking an ordinary joint, in grade 7, but I didn?t seem to get any effect from it because I don?t think I smoked it properly. (I can?t even do anything wrong right!)

Pretty well all my life, I?ve had kind of kinky fantasies. (I won?t go into it here. Let?s just say it?s nothing really bad, like rape, pedo., necro., or anything like that, and not ?gay? either, but just what would be considered somewhat weird . . . . not homo sapien either.) I didn?t actually act out these ?fantasies? (when I was young, anyway), but I would kind of, let?s say, make use of related imagery, mentally and visually, during the more physical element of my self-contained virtual reality (?self-gratification?). I would do this quite regularly, and it is the fixation with these ?thoughts? and ?desires? that eventually negated any faith I had in my own spiritual standing.

After I started believing that there wasn?t any hope for me anyway, I recently started to have a little peek here in cyberspace to ?see what all the fuss is about? that the WT warns against. I thought, if I?m condemned anyway, then I might as well just do a little online investigation about the WTBTS. This led me to here, and, well, here I am.

I?m still living at home and still considered in good standing in my congregation. I plan to still bide my time for a while longer until I am in a better position to re-evaluate my options and decisions. So, yeah, I have been, at least to some extent, living a double life. I still don?t think I?m a bad guy, but, well, there you have it.

does money talk in the cong?

the jw i dated had lots of money and seemed to take the religion pretty much a la carte.

when it was to his advantage he'd play the religion card, but he seemed to get away with a lot.

by that i mean he owned and flew an ultralight, spent lots of time at the airport with non jws, slept with me (although they didn't know that), traveled to europe 2x to take his non jw mom to france, spends a lot of time visiting his mom in fl.

JWs are always being nagged about dress and grooming, keeping cars and houses neat and clean, etc. But to keep a home as ?nice? and clean as the WT indicates it should be, a person would have to hire a maid. (Don?t even think of trying to compete with Bethel with this, folks. You?ll need to invest in a room full of vacuum cleaners and soap!) And to always have clothes that are clean, neat, and ?attractive,? this would inevitably involve constantly buying new clothes. (Clothes have a way of getting dirty and out of style, falling from ?perfection.?)

So, yeah, money is certainly favorable in keeping up the appearance of these ?ideal people? you always see in the WT photos and on the assembly platform. (I haven?t seen too many ?ordinary? people shown in jeans and a T-shirt in those WT photos?even at an informal barbeque!)

The organization gives the impression of not having ?class distinctions,? but it sure seems that all the top elders?and their wives?always look the part. Yes, they always seem to pick the ?cream of the crop? ($$$), and it shows.

Sex Is Banned During Euro 2004.

i just heard a big debate on bbc radio 2 concerning the french soccer team.. apparently, they're banned from having any sex during the time that they remain as contestants in the euro 2004 competition.. how embarrasing for them.

one thing is for sure though.

when england play france next sunday, no way will the england supporters engage in any mocking chants.

First of all, how in the hell can they enforce such a ?ban??

What do they do?have a large group of private investigators follow each team player around 24/7?

What if someone is caught doing the old ?five knuckle shuffle? with himself? Does he get a ticket or something?

What kind of legal right do they have to even attempt to impose such an arbitrary and high-handed ?creative by-law?? Surely if there was any kind of trial that became of any ?infractions,? their no-doubt obvious failure to prove any sound medical basis to warrant any disciplinary action would cause their case to fall flat as a silly pancake. Any idiot could easily argue the benefits of relieving tension, not to mention a good workout, which would surely outweigh any perceived ?harm? in something which is considered part of a ?healthy routine? anyway. I would love to be in the audience if such a trial occurred.

Jeebus H. Crackers?what next, tell them they?re not allowed to smile?

Gotta hand it to the French. What can you expect in a legal system where you?re still ?guilty until proven innocent.?

WHY ARE THE WT LAWYERS RUNNING THE SHOW?

The governing body is trying to control the show using their mind control. The lawyers are there for damage control.

Murmurings in my congregation

i just had a startling conversation with a brother in my congregation at today's meeting.

he asked me if i had read the two study articles of the june 15th 2004 watchtower magazine on blood transfusions, particularly the banned and not-banned blood products.

he told me he found it absolutely idiotic the way the argumentation for banning some blood products and not others was presented.

The thing that really bothers me is the title to that little booklet that came out a while ago (in the 90?s, I think) called something like, ?How Can Blood Save Your Life?? The comparison is apparently to the symbolic value of Jesus? blood.

However, the WTBTS not only doesn?t allow blood transfusions as an emergency medical procedure, but also doesn?t permit the storing of someone?s own blood before a critical operation in case of an emergency (?autologous blood donation?). Now, the purpose of blood is to keep yourself alive by transferring oxygen to the cells, eliminating waste (such as lactic acid from the muscles), production of antibodies for the immune system, and so on. So, if you take some of the blood that is already in your own body right now and temporarily remove it for possible re-entry into your own body as a preoperative safety measure, then what is the big f^@#?n problem! You would simply be putting something that is from, and thus belongs in, your own body back to where it came from in the first place.

Therefore, if you died during a critical operation when your death could have been prevented simply by returning some of your own blood back into your own body, then how in the hell did ?blood save your life?? This is yet another example of a WT rule that simply makes no sense. (I believe the word is ?nonsense.? )

they had complete control over their faithful members and those who left had no voice to speak out.

the law was on their side protecting their teachings.

Will Sites like this turn out to be the eventual demise of the WTBTS? Or will their end be possibly from a plethora of present/future legal cases? Or will it be simply from overwhelming apathy in the Western world? Or maybe a combination of all these?

Well, I honestly don?t know. But one thing I do know for certain: One of the most powerful things is KNOWLEDGE. May it be put to good use.

I was in favour of Paul Martin?up until Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and Ontario Finance Minister Greg Sorbara came up with their plan to add a new health tax on July 1, 2004. What a load of sh^t! For me, that will work out to $25 per month, or $300 per year, deducted from my paycheque because I make over $25,000 per year. I'm sure that will end up forcing some poor people onto the streets, especially in places like Toronto!

Also, the cost for renewing a driver?s licence will increase from $50 to $75. And, of course, anyone who drinks or smokes will be raped like an Iraqi prisoner, on top of the f^@#'n GST!

The thing that pisses me off is that Dalton McGuinty told everyone that ?he will not be raising taxes.? Well, I like the cartoon of him on The Toronto Sun the other day showing him with a really long nose. I mean, aside from whether or not they need to take the above extreme measures, instead of lying his pants off, he could have at least given us a little bit of fair warning! This sucks!

So, if that?s the kind of ?liberal surprises? we could expect throughout this entire country, then I?d prefer a different team. We?d probably be better off with the German shepherd in ?The Littlest Hobo? for a liberal leader?his nose is already long!

Poll: Anyone thought they sinned against Holy Spirit? Any anxiety or anger?

certainly not that i would ever imply that anyone would have sinned against the holy spirit, but i was just wondering how may people either think they may have done this, or in the past thought they may have, or if they felt they were ever a victim of that wt scare tactic.

if so, did you at some point in your life feel anxiety over it?

did you ever feel anger about being misled into thinking you had when you realize now that you really couldn?t have (at least by that time)?
