I was'nt invited to them....I was told I would be if I got baptised ...........though they would very kindly inform me what was going to happen and where and with whom...then very lovingly let me know how much fun it was and that they wished that I could have been there too...........

Lost
by Puternut infeeling lost today.. it's the weekend, and i will be once again going home to an empty house, where my children won't be welcoming me home.
i haven't seen or talked to them in a very long time.
i won't be able to kiss their sweet faces, or hold them close to me, so i can tell them i love them.

Corvin, I think that's an amazingly strong description of a father's love, it brough tears to my eyes.
((((puter)))) I'm so sorry you have to try and learn to live without them for the moment.I'm sure it will only be for a while-children do always want to reconsile and understand eventually.Sometimes when children become parents themselves it starts of a longing to understand the absent parent and to reconsile.I know that's happened in my husband and friends' familes repeatedly.
I can't understand it if it's your wife who's actively trying to keep them from you, whatever way your views have changed.My husband has been very difficult to live with for many reasons and has left three times.but i've recently let him come back to the family home again besause he can't live without the children and it made me feel so guilty.It breaks my heart to see anyone seperated from the people they love and who love them.
Can you not live closer? I suggested my husband bought a house next door....stay close, Puter; they'll think back everyday and remember how much you tried to be with them.

How Do You Make Friends Now?
by exjdub incodeblue's thread about the teenage years made me start thinking about another aspect of being raised jw.
in the org we had ready made "friends" by virtue of our affiliation.
i found that after leaving jw's it was hard to meet people and it took me a long time to make friends.

Making new friends is a lot easier and less daunting than you think it will be, when you leave...my new friend phoned me last week to say she'd bought me tickets to see the Vagina Monologues with 6 of her friends, which was such a lovely thing to do;I don't know them,but soon will.... which is one example of how friends tend to snowball once you start the process.
I had my core group of old non- jw friends who stuck with me through all the WTBS years ...... the jw friends were so.......quiet........it nearly drove me crazy.... being quite friendly I hated having to push people away if I liked them and they wer'nt deemed 'good association' but felt that I 'ought' to. It was one of the hardest things i've ever had to do and it made me pretty miserable.
I go to college now and have the tutors and a great group of people there thats enlarged again as we've met eachother's friends and partners...I don't have to refuse offers from.neighbours and parents of my children's friends to go out, and when i'm out I usually get talking to someone!
I also joined a gym when I left and met old and new friends there, and a swimming club and i'm just about to start self defence and trampolining classes.
Sometimes we wonder how to find these 'new friends' but I find the easiest way is to put yourself out there and smile invite them to do something with you, rather than waiting to be asked and feeling noones noticing you..I think joining a night class or going back into education is one of the best ways, as then you get to meet people you will already have a common interest with.And meeting people from this board has been great too.
Also, as people get to know you're not a witness anymore, they'll be more at ease and more likely to want to speak to you.
I never refuse any decent offer and i'm nearly back to my old self again.....

((Dusty)) maybe this is the time to act...sometimes we sit back when it's time to act, the moment passes and we loose the impetus...living at home must make this situation really difficult for you both.If you feel beholden to your mother as you're living under her roof, are you able to find a place of your own?Your girlfriend sounds sure...but be careful to not start a war of words with the elders that may back fire on you and make you appear to be the kind of person they, no doubt, will tell her you are....good luck with all this-I hope they don't manage to make her feel so bad about her relationship with you that she'll start to doubt it-stay close to her and make solid plans soon...did you read Gadget's threads?Don't loose her...

a friend (and fellow scuba diver) brought me some fresh scallops, tonight - so fresh they were still in the shells.. i fried them with some mushrooms.. now i'm enjoying some fresh bread - boy do i love bread!.

I prawns and have to eat them everyday.......also love hot bread from the oven with lashings of butter and any homegrown fruit and veg....But my favourite meal has to be grilling fresh rainbow trout, almonds and mushrooms, with a salad of herbs and flowers from the garden, looks real perdy and tastes amazing...
FMZ...at last! I don't feel weird anymore - i'm renown for serving up whole huge salads of flowers in the summer and trying to make people eat them....

Warning all Canadians............
by Gadget in.......gadgets coming to canada!.
i've been looking round for a holiday for this summer, and found for virtually the same price i could fly to canada and go backpacking.
i know i want to go down to niagara falls, but i'm still looking at all the guides to see which other places i want to go to, and working out if i'm best off hiring a car or using the bus/train to get around.
