We gave them our letters of DA

well, i guess it will be official very soon, the announcement will be read and we will be "lost" into satan's world... my husband gave our letters to the elder who came to visit us with his wife the other day.

this is the 3rd time they came by in the last month, even after he told them he would call them if we wanted to "talk".

they saw the christmas tree shining through the door, brightly lit, so there could be no question that we had already taken some steps away.......but he still stayed for an hour trying to convince my husband that it was the "truth".. later that day my parents came over (i wasn't here) and he said my mom just looked at our christmas decorations with jealousy in her eyes.

Reading the arguments elders gave you to convince you to stay is like listening again to my friends when we decided it is time to leave the wt society - wait on Jehovah - do not listen to apostate lies- and refusing to really look into information you are presenting.That just shows how controled they are, afraid to live real life.

Congratulation on your courage and strenght and luck that your whole immediate family got out. Enjoy your life and freedom. Your kids will be OK. Right now there might be some confusion but kids are resilient and soon , with your help when they see how happy you are, they will follow.

Do jws realise the amount of control the watctower has over them?

i was talking to my ex-girlfriend today, and we got on about the witnesses.

she refuted how much control the watchtower has over each witness, saying that the watchtower is only a guide as to what to do, everybody has to make their own mind up.

is this a general view of witnesses?

Losing the Truth in Bible Translations?

here's something i wanted to throw out for debate.

there is a line in a smashing pumpkins song that says "something always gets lost in the translation.

" how true of a translation of the bible do you think you can find?

Very interesting post. I saw this happening even in the translations of the Watchtower and Awake magazines when I would compare texts in english and my native language.It was strange but very often the overal feeling or sensation you get when reading in one language would be lost when you read the same thing in other language.So I do believe that true meaning does get lost with numerous translations.

The absolute stupidity of Christianity

I cannot agree with the title absolute stupidity of Christianity just because I met some wonderful people whose lives were dramaticaly changed for good after they were introduced to the bible and its teachings. These ones not only bettered themselves but they did great things for a complete strangers - deeds of charity, love and compassion and not because they were seeking converts but just from their faith and as a result of their convictions to seek good and do good to their fellowman.

I guess if we look only for bad in people that is what we are going to find and vice versa - the same is with everything else -with the religion too - if we are only looking for bad in it that is what we will find; but what if we try to look for good in it? Because of those Christians that I met even before my own experience with religion, I still beleive that Christian teachings do radiate love and compassion.

Just stating my opinion.

For those who don't want Witnesses coming to their door

this is just some general information for outsiders, (non witnesses) who want to know how to get the witnesses to leave them alone.. .

each kingdom hall has an assigned area their members are responsible for doing the door to door preaching.

it may be the whole town or, if there are more than one congregations, the town or city will be divided up between halls.

Regarding those DNC signs on the door - we had in our teritory quite a few doors like that and I remember working with an elder who was so zealous that he would knock on these doors just to ask : "what is the reason you put that sign on? You know there are many untrue informations about witnesses so if you would like I can explain ...." and of course we would be yelled at and treatened with police.After one of those visits when we made householder very mad, next day he put up a sign : NO JEHOVAHS WITNESSES AND DON`T EVEN THINK OF ASKING WHY OR ELSE...GO BUG SOMEONE ELSE and than a very explicit swear word!

Sadly we taught he was in Satan`s world-mislead, and we are right-persecuted for righteousness sake.

well after two months of silence i got a couple of phone calls from my "best jw friends".

probably motivated by november watchtower instructions, they were nice asking about a family, kids etc, and then came "the" question: when are you going back to the meetings?

i told them again reasons why not ,yet they tried to be sympathetic by warning: as long as you do not go around and bad-mouth the organization we can still be friends.

Everything seems worthwile when I see my kids(8,10 and 13 year old) all just bubly about holidays,decorating,preparing gifts,etc. It is interesting to see how the youngest one is ,even thou he knows there is no Santa, writting letter to him,taking about raindeers and how he wants to leave some magic seeds so they can eat...I didn`t know but he seems to want to relive those innocent years of beleiving which unfortunately he was not allowed to do. So for now we just play allong with him and my husband and I really want to make this comming holiday one they will always remember.

My mommy is dying.... :(

i'm off to new york this morning.

i'm fortunate that my oldest daughter will drive with me, missing class to support her mom and possibly to say a final farewell to her grandma.. my mother has has two strokes this year, and, after the first one in may, told me that she felt like she was dying from the inside out.

she had another stroke at the end of august, and was eventually put in a nursing home.

Just lost our parents....

well, the shunning begins.

we finally had "the" discussion with my parents, that we no longer consider ourselves jw's, and a little bit of why we felt that way.

of course, "dad the elder and po" and mom the pioneer dutifully informed us that not only will they be "loyal to the organization" and shun us completely, but that he would immediately let the other elders know, so that proper judicial action could be taken.. it was a heart wrenching discussion, with all of us, including my two young boys (9 and 10) all balling our eyes out.

what to say but be strong and don`t feel quilty about your decision - your kids will one day be grateful for what you did.It is so hard to go through so much pain and when you think over what? stupid rules even worse stupid man -made rules that are tearing families apart - more proof that wt is not loving nor Christian organization.

URGHHH - I truly hate what they do to people and I will pray for you to find peace and support you need now more then ever. Please keep on posting and express your feelings as much as you need. Maybe it would help to get in touch with some ex-JWS in your area.

whatever you do I`ll be thinking of you and hoping that you will stay strong and together as a family, and there is always hope that your parents and your relatives might start thinking about all this situation.

Mouthy is not feeling well...

we just returned from visiting mouthy- she is not feeling well -her back is "out "since friday, and she is in so much pain she can hardly walk.

she is still a trooper,doesn`t complain much but it is obvious it is not easy for her.. she is not able to post much right now because she needs to lie down and rest,but she sends all of you lots of hugs and kisses.with her permission i am writting this, so if someone would like to send her some get well thoughts it would be much appreciated.. thank you all.. get well soon dear grace , we love you very much.

I really need to hear that from time to time, because sometimes when I think about last few months and what was happening (and still is) I feel as somebody punched me in the stomach,kind of sick feeling; so it is nice to be reassured again.
