They came, they saw, they left...
by NVR2L8 induring the holiday period one if my wife's brothers had planned a vacation in our area.
they drove about 6 hours to a condo they leased for a week to celebrate their wedding anniversary with their married son and daughter.
they called my wife to let her know they were coming to visit us since they were 2 hours away.

In my experience the only time the uber family comes around is if you can do something for them, i.e. a free place to stay or cash. You may get something from them when they attend an assembly or elders meeting that makes them feel guilty that you are "weak". The feeling goes away VERY fast. If they can't count their time, you are just not worth the effort. They have more important things to do.
The only time our COBE calls or texts us is when the CO is in town. He doesn't want to get his butt chewed out for not doing this "task".
Like I have said before...let the elders know that you need something (money, assistance in moving or help around your home), you will never hear from them again (maybe just a phone call or text that the CO is in town this week).
Can you feel the love? The biggest bunch of Hypocrites I have ever met!!!

In this weeks meeting regarding hospitality. The kingdom ministry stated the following:
“The elders take the lead in arranging for visiting speakers to receive hospitality and reimbursement for their travel expenses.”
Is this a new thought? Reimbursing speakers for travel expenses? I don't remember this being done in my area before.
so if we pay for their meal. Pay for their travel expenses. Is this not a paid clergy.?

Notice: Attempted Suicides or Threatened Suicide. It does not mention anything about getting that person professional help. This is exactly what that person needs, not a bunch of unskilled, untrained wanna be's reading scriptures to a suicidal person.
This organization could care less about the people, just covering their a**. I would not want the legal liability of being an Elder or CO.
This organization has "pushed the envelope" with peoples lives and people are VERY angry. You can take just about anything from a man/woman but when you take their families away they get PISSED!
I hope WBT$ has more lawsuits than they know what to do with. Maybe that's why they need more money!

Which helps more? The trolley dollies or this guy....
by Slidin Fast inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aubtadi7zuy.
i am not usually impressed by human interest stories but this guy does more good in five minutes, does more to promote humanity in 5 minutes than a bus load of sterile literature carts and cartons of propaganda.. what say you, can one person make difference?

Attention AMIII! you need to read WATCH OUT FOR SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS- A WT you would never see today!
by BU2B ini was reading an article from a '95 wt called "watch out for self righteousness" it exposes amiii as a true pharisee by their own definition.
the style and content sound a lot like ray franz but it obviously was not.
i am confident you would never see an article like this in todays wt land.

BU2B - Wow! This article sure does hit the nail on the head!
Unfortunately, any JW or GB member who reads it. Will of course apply the information to someone else in the congregation, never to themselves! I wish this was a current study article, I would love to hear the self righteous comments during the WT lesson.

What if.....the impossible happened?
by sparrowdown inwhat if the almighty gb announced that all shunning will cease, and next minute all the people who have shunned you start calling and texting saying "hi, we're baaaack, we can talk to you now!".
.
what would do you do, and how do you react?.

I would tell my friends and family...still in! So, they finally ran out of money! This would be the only reason they would make such a change. -

Consolidating of Circuits Coming?
by The Searcher ini heard a local needs item last night which is not only adding different congregations to a different circuit, (to balance the numbers attending) but also moving all of the congs in that circuit from a relatively nearby rented venue to an assembly hall more than 4 times the distance away!
how loving of the glorious ones!
what a blessing they are giving to the flock!.

My hope is all of these changes have folks wondering and questioning. Why all the cut backs when the GB is always preaching about our amazing growth! Why do paid off Assembly Halls cost more per day then renting a place?
Of course if you are just the rank and file, you can only ask these questions to yourself. Don't you dare ask these questions out loud to other dubs. You will be marked as a trouble maker.
The ONLY thing you need to do? Vote with your wallet! STOP making donations at every level. Local Kingdom hall funds, World wide work fund, Kingdom Hall Building Funds and No More Circuit Assembly donations.
If you are fading and still stuck having to attend the meetings and assembly's. When the accounts reports are given ONLY you will know that NOT one penny came from you! I can tell you personally...It is a wonderful feeling!

Me and my brother.
by nicolaou inan earlier discussion has been highlighting the differences between da'ing and df'ing.
xena said:i am sorry qadreena but i have never in the 20 some odd years i have been a jw ever heard of an unbaptised publisher being d/aed...marked as bad association yes..but d/a...no...but i guess stranger things can happen.... well that brought it all back.. actually xena the exact same thing happened to my brother in the early 80's.
he was only 14. he'd carried on associating with a friend of his who'd been disfellowshipped.

I remember reading this thread a while back. It goes to show you it is never to late to move forward. This cult has damaged so many lives. They always talk about blood guilt but NEVER apply it to themselves.
I am so glad that he was able to make amends with his younger brother. Too bad his Mom doesn't wake up.
I could NEVER turn may back on my family! NEVER!
