My wife married me and I'm an non-baptized, facial hair sporting, non meeting goer. She is baptized and her father is an elder. She didn't get in trouble, no family came to wedding of course but there wasn't any JC meetings or such. Think she has hopes of converting me.

Marriage outside the religion punishable?
by Pattytheperfectone innow i know they have always discouraged marrying outside of their so called 'truth' but since when has it been a punishable offense?
my sister recently married and they are discussing wether her being married to an outsider will stumble others and if they need to reprove or disfellowship her for it..

I need a good cry but I can't. Please help?
by ohnightdivine inbesides being overworked and overstressed almost everyday in the past few months,.
i've had to deal with a 'broken heart', insecurities with my physical appearance (gained a lot of weight),.
and being lonely because i started distancing myself from the 'congregation', i just want to cry, sob, and bawl out here in my bedroom.

I laughed so hard at your post. It really boggles the mind, doesn't it! I hear my family say things like this and I want to violently shake them into reality.

What Was Your "Status" Within The Organization?
by minimus inwere you a sought after associate?.
were you often invisible?.
did other witnesses view you as "exemplary"?.

I never really thought about my "status" in the hall. I show up (usually during the song, and zone out for 2 hours, then try to leave without talking to anyone. The wife likes to talk though, i use the hungry excuse on Sundays to leave right away. Thursdays its "tired". Saturdays service is usually just a flat out no.
I am probably perceived as my wifes weak link - she answers and gives talks and all that crap, i sit there and zone out. No one has said anything about the goatee thing yet, only the wife.

Well, no audience contact but i am talking about use of notes.
I always wondered about note taking at conventions and assemblies. Why does this happen? Does it help you absorb the information better or does it just make you look like you care? Does anyone ever go home and review the notes they take?
Growing up my family had stacks of notebooks in our cupboard - all from past conventions and assemblies. They would take notes all day long, title each day, and then put it in the cupboard when finished. I never saw anyone dig them out and research anything, they would sit in the cupboard for years and then finally get tossed.
Maybe this sounds sexist but I mainly noticed women taking the notes, the men would just sit there as the women vigorously tried to keep up with the spiritual feast being served from the podium.
I remember recording the baptism talk one year at a convention. When the brother dude asked the candidates those two questions, I held the tape recorder up to my mouth and shouted, “NO!”. I then played the recording for the family on the way home, they were not happy but I was laughing my butt off, think I was 12 or so. Ha-ha, makes me laugh now.
And, this could totally “out” me if any family member comes across this, my question to them is why are you on this site?!
Sorry, totally got off the note taking topic.

A powerful JC recording from 1984!
by Island Man inthis jc from 1984 features a brother and his wife, who were evidently about to be df'd for apostasy.
but the brother knew his ttatt well.
the elders really couldn't muster any half-way convincing arguments to refute the damning facts on 607 and 1914. even 1975 was touched on.

Some enjoyable listening while at the gym!
Clearly, Rick and his wife researched their way out of the "truth". I am really surprised the elders let them talk and express their views - I wonder if any of those elders left the meeting with a few questions churning in their heads.

Thanks all for your support and kind words and insight. I am sitting here now trying to figure out how to bring up how I’m feeling with the wife. It's making that first step that’s the hardest. I don’t know how she will take it. Some posters suggested starting out with the blood issue as she is pregnant and this would be a "legitimate" concern. I was thinking of writing her a letter and spelling things out. That way i can say everything on my mind and have the ability to pick my words wisely.
Any suggestions?
I dont want to come off as a crazy apostate.. :)
