Don't preach, sell books.
by mikeypants ini haven't seen this article before but i apologize if this has been discussed.. i decided to download a bunch of jw literature and came across this special bulletin from 1928, a special colporteur edition.
it was written by the society and sent to the roughly 1400 colporteurs, which is someone pushing religious books and magazines.
if you want the entire bulletin id be happy to email it.

If you want the entire bulletin id be happy to email it. But I wanted to share the part that grabbed my attention and provided me a laugh. They sum up the bulletin with suggestions on how to sell the most crap. Its a combo of the Ministry School book and the KM, where they have examples for preaching and such. You know, where you say this if the householder says this and so on.
Here's a few paragraphs I loved.
"Here offer them the books and state the price and tell them how helpful they be in their bible studies, also tell them how many you are selling to your neighbors. Try to get them to buy, but don't let them say no. Watch their lips, and if they don't show signs of buying, start to canvass again, using these questions...
If they don't buy yet, show them another question or two; try to close the sale.
If they simply won't buy, look for someone else. Don't spend too much time with any one, and don't preach-sell books. If you want to preach, rent a hall. "
Anyway, that last line made me laugh.

Meaningful Study
by Awake at last ini never thought i would be commenting, let alone starting a new topic in the category of bible research and study.
anyone reading my comments on this site would have realised that i am the most unspiritual person to have ever stepped foot inside a kh.
yet for the first time in my life, on saturday night, i did some meaningful bible study/research, on my own without a wtbts publication in sight, except the nwt bible.

What is the biggest regret or source of resentment because of being a Jehovahs Witness?
by stuckinarut2 ini'm sure we could all write long paragraphs about this question, but in a few words, what is your biggest regret, or frustration in life due to being a witness?.
what missed opportunities did it cost you?

1st POST: A romance with a JW
by myangelface ini am not a jw ...however i began having bible studies (i d call them watchtower studies).
i was beginning to get lured in and brainwashed into accepting the religion as the true religion...but something inside of me told me there was something odd.
some time passes and i was invited to a meeting and i accepted.

Hi! Long time lurker finally signing up!
by LosingMyReligion inok, so the time has finally come to register an account on this site.
not that i think i have much to contribute to the discussions here, but more out of a desire to show that yet another person has learned ttatt.
i am a fader, not discussing ttatt with anyone as i know the inevitable outcome it would have.

Welcome to the site. I joined a few months ago and am currently inactive as well, wife still is a dubya though. I understand what you said about this site, at first glance ( and depending on the chance of the post) one could mistake this place as a crazed apostate site. While that definitely does exist in some postings, I find the vast majority of items pose some real "food for thought", as the dubyas love to say.
Anyway, just wanted to say welcome and I look forward to perhaps hearing of some of your experiences.

Toddler accidentally shoots woman dead in Idaho Walmart
by nicolaou ina woman has been shot dead by a 2-year-old in a wal-mart store in idaho.. .
the 29-year-old was shopping with four children in the store in hayden, when the two-year-old reached into her handbag and fired the weapon, shooting her dead.. initial reports suggested the woman was the boy's mother, but the police have said that this is as yet unclear how they are related.. source; http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/toddler-accidentally-shoots-woman-in-idaho-walmart-9950847.html.
i've nothing to add to my past comments on americas psychotic relationship with guns.

There are idiots everywhere. One fewer idiot now.
Not sure what that has to do with gun rights. For every crazy idiotic moron with a gun there are 10 thousand responsible ones. But you don't hear about those.
I agree there should be tighter gun controls and regulations though. Yes, the perfect world (paradise maybe? ) would be one without weapons but that isn't reality. The reality is I need a gun in my home to protect my family because criminals exist. Bottom line.
