what has happened since I left in 1993? do they not give out Shasta and hoagies and fruit bags? what are people supposed to eat? they had just segued into passing out food on a donation basis when I left. btw-you rule!

I think this guy will never understand what it's like to be a woman. Seeing stuff like this hurts me. I am not happy submitting to a man. This guy says I should not be happy unless I am submitting to a man. If he had been born a woman, he might have a different viewpoint.

not any more. I used to hate it, as well as hating my parents, with a seething rage. time passed, and now I only feel a vague sense of pity and an urge to help others escape.

when i was about four years old, I was sitting looking out the window during a Sunday meeting. The brother giving the talk said that we were the one true religion and that every other religion was wrong, even though they also used the Bible to prove they were right. I remember thinking to myself, "What if we're wrong, too?" How can anyone really say they're the right religion? That was it for me. The next thirteen years were loooong and full of grief, but I escaped eventually.

At our KH the picture on page 18 drew most comments - about a letter from Paul/Peter being read to th early congregation on how men were to treat women- and many passed comment on how the women were looking at the men -out of the corner of their eye

One Elder told me that one should never see a psychiatrist because the first thing the shrink would say is stop being a Jehovah's Witness and you will feel better.

one guy was reg pio, all the good stuff, went to bethel and was kicked out after less than a year.
came back to the congregation an alcoholic, started missing meetings, and then stopped going altogether.

I remember hearing about Amanda Carter through my mom. Amanda and I used to play together from the time were were 3 or 4. Everything in the Carter house was immaculate; I used to be scared to eat over there because it seemed like the house was on display. We went to bookstudy in their basement for years. Amanda always got along with the worldly kids at school, a feat I never managed. I always wondered how she did it. Mainly by pretending to not know me when we met in the school hallways, I think.
