New To The Board

i just wanted to introduce myself and tell everyone that i have enjoyed many of the posts.

i wish that this resource was available 7 years ago when i walked away from the organization, it would have helped my transition a great deal.

i also wanted to say that it is enjoyable to come to a forum that is not on an angry rant about the organization on a constant basis.

when i say to move, it means go someplace else, not switch positions with each other so there are still two of you in the way.

I totally agree that some pets are better than people....especially cats. Only a cat person can understand.

I have several cats and today they attempted to assist me while I was preparing some fish for lunch...I almost became lunch!!.. my one cat is sitting on my lap as I type this,,she hates it when I type and tries to stop me by lying on the keyboard. Probably why I couldn't send my message,,,also why I cannot chat online as often as I want to.

Should We Form A Committee?

dansk recently asked us to write and protest about the erection of a kh in bury, lancashire.. many of us did just that and the newspaper concerened emailed most of us asking for permission to publish our comments in it's weekly issue.. it was also suggested that maybe we could also write to df'ing committees to protest at their actions.. so, we're wondering, should we form some sort of committee to co-ordinate operations such as this on an ongoing basis?.

if we did that, who would be interested in playing an active part?.

any suggestions as to how such an operation should be run?.

As Noted by some so far the best intent would be to form some sort of startegy. My intention with this post is to just report my experiance. I agree that some kind of co-ordinated GLOBAL effort will send the message clearly......here it comes...the , BUT.....regarding any Email campaign >>> CAUTION .

Basic Email ISP rules & Law states

Email content may not be sent that contains material that may cause offence to others.
Email can be used by the Police or other competent authority for further investigation.
Your traffic over the Internet may traverse other networks, or use other services, which are not owned or operated by you, you must therefore abide by the terms and conditions imposed by the operators of those networks and services.
Any violations of systems or network security are prohibited, and may result in the Emailer facing criminal and civil liability.
ISP's investigate incidents involving violations and inform and co-operate with the relevant law enforcement organisations if a criminal violation is suspected.

Violations may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Interfering with any user, host or network including mailbombing (sending hundreds of copied/forwarded Emails. If the host server crashes due to vast numbers of incoming mails you are responsible for their losses.
Running an "open mail relay", viz a machine which accepts mail from unauthorised or unknown senders and forwards it onward to a destination outside of your machine or network. If your machine does relay mail, on an authorized basis, then it must record its passing through your system by means of an appropriate "received" line.
Send packets onto the Internet which have forged addresses
Sending Email to those that do not request it.

Finally regarding the POISON THAT IS EMAIL:

Its in the public domain, can be altered and then forwarded.

So dear friends , what I am trying to say here, is that any electronic campaign..especially email is a potential melting pot and could lead to disaster for senders as well as recievers. I speak from experiance. Sometime ago I had a small website with pictures of me, my pets etc..usual home stuff running from my computer as a small server. My dream was one day to start an online business.... On it I put my Email adress. BIG MISTAKE.

Firstly I was attacked by "a" (singular) spammer. Then I complained to my ISP and sent the spammer a very strong worded email...then I was suddenly mailbombed , recieving up to 1000 spams a day. Then followed several denial of service attacks, then followed several remote procedure call's (RPC)..In the end my ISP informed me that despite spam filtering etc I would still recieve about 100 unsolicted Emails a day and would I like to contact the Authorities...they explained that I now had a legal case and I could sue the senders of these unwanted Emails, with their backing..ALL OF THEM.

At that point my firewall was blocking up to 50 000 attempts per week.The situation is still not resolved but it seems the spammers are forgiving me as I only recieve abot 7000 hack attempts a week now.

So if anything I have said so far makes any sense to you then I would suggest that Emailing is some what different than the old fashioned hard copy complaint. Technology comes with a Bunch of laws and security and you never know who may object to what you say or what you send. It's one thing to vent online but another to send that message to someone you don't know wants it

I am ashamed of this one !

Many years ago I was assigned a family who had gone cold. I repeatedly tried to get hold of them on wednesay evenings, saturday and sunday mornings etc. One day while on street witnessing I saw them and before they could escape I gave them a magazine. A study ensued. He returned and also became an elder. That was about 1987.

I left the borg in 1994 and about 1995 he tried to repay the favour, harrasing me almost into insanity.

Boy did I feel stupid...the pupil returned to teach the master. Unfortunately I did'nt reciprocate. LOL

Despite studying many hours in the Bethal library, witnessing thousands of hours, giving talks at assemblies and hundreds of sunday public talks.....I yet have to find a bible teaching which condones hiding pedophiles from the law.

It took me thirty years to realize that I was in a cult and that is why I cannot believe any of the claptrap served up as spiritual food. I was especially nauseated this week by the latest 666 Watchtower articles and references to the Evil Slave class and foolish virgins.

BTW these magazines (about 8 of them) were stuffed into my post box again..I suppose by some JW slacker. I have ripped them up, burnt them and used them to line my cat sand box !

how do you deal with family members who still cling to the beliefs and yet never attend meetings or assemblies?

my step-parents all but stopped going to the meetings when i was df'd, guess i was too embarassing.

but, they cling to their beliefs.

You have all my sympathies. I can relate to your story. One of my family members also a staunch JW (although never associating/meetings etc) was an Alcoholic. When ever she was drunk she would preach and condemn all around her. When she was sober she would pray for forgiveness and apologize. It is disgusting, but you need to ask : what is the root cause?

The answer is simple : Cult indoctranation.

If the JW brain cells could be eradicated the persons may actually be normal. If they chose to be that way then its your right to disfellowship them out of your life.
