JW mother in law's comments nearly send my son into outrage ....
by troubled mind inwell my jw in- laws are here for the yearly visit .
yeah.... last night they came by after the meeting .
we had a nice chat catching up except dear mom kept re-directing the conversation to all their recent theocratic activities ...they just went on the full scale pilgrimage to bethel , patterson ,and walkill, and paid great homage to the grand publishing company .

Just because it is illegal when they are born does not mean that it won't still be very much the norm underground. And what if the girl gets an infection? If the parents think they will be prosecuted they will delay getting proper medical attention.

when i was a witness, a lot of times i saw situations come up where someone was trying to be helpful to someone in need either spiritually, financially, emotionally or otherwise, and people would try to find fault with the good individual for helping someone.
what causes people to do that to others, jealousy of their goodness or what?

All my friends were male. We had sleepovers all my life since we were babies. Then suddenly we weren't allowed to have them anymore even though we were blood related because it wouldn't look proper.

Why, why can't a girl start the lawn Mower?
by restrangled inok, my husband is in bed, there is just enough light to mow the lawn.
the gas tank has just been refilled, and there is fresh oil.damn it, i have primed it as required, and have pulled and pulled and pulled the stupid string.. why cant the damn thing start with out a guy???
my husband is now asleep and the damn lawn is 5 inches tall.. god help me!!!!!!!!!.

Put the front of the mower up to a wall. Duct tape the bar down and yank with both hands, lean into the pull with your body weight. Am I weird? I think I'm the only girl I know that used to cut the grass for money. I shovelled snow as well.

I think a lot of them honestly overwrite the old teachings with the current one. After all there is only one truth right? Those that left have an easier time remembering the snapshots because we know we weren't always at war with Eurasia...

Higher education ban busting at the seems ?
by 5go ini know of alot of brothers and sisters in my congregation deciding to get at least two years in.
some have certificates and regret it and are going back for mainly money reasons.. me i got a certificate in a area and i am going back to get a real degree.
preferably in a diffrent field.. what is it like where your at ?.

At the moment I don't really know of anyone from my congregation that has gotten an education. One girl took sign language classes but that was to help her pioneering..a couple boys are apprenticing on trades but again that got the okay. A few took about 4 years longer to finish high school homeschooling than anyone else. I've almost finished my BA in the meantime. I was going to be taking a 2 year diploma instead and mom was looking for a JW roomate for me. Thank goodness that never went through I can't imagine doing the JW thing, working and still having teh time to get the A grades I'm getting.

Witness "Terminology"
by Rubens ini find it interesting reading posts from ex-witnesses or those that are slipping away and yet the terminology is still brain-washed into us.
i mean, i've managed to stop using the terms myself.
sometimes i might catch myself using the term "the truth" or "brother" or "sister", but i quickly correct myself.. the fact is for me, as much as i agree with a lot of their values and beliefs, those people were not my "brothers and sisters" nor was the organization "the truth".

I think it's like any bad habit. It becomes easier to use the terminology that you were taught instead of having to search for other words to use.
