  Why, why can't a girl start the lawn Mower?

  ok, my husband is in bed, there is just enough light to mow the lawn.

  the gas tank has just been refilled, and there is fresh oil.damn it, i have primed it as required, and have pulled and pulled and pulled the stupid string.. why cant the damn thing start with out a guy???

  my husband is now asleep and the damn lawn is 5 inches tall.. god help me!!!!!!!!!.

  It's the speed of the pull. IMO most people don't tug on it quickly enough.

  While I am certainly against FGM I fear that this ruling will not make much of a difference. It does nothing to change the socio-cultural and religious factors underlying the practice. By making it illegal clinics that use anesthetic and sterile equipment will no longer be able to practice and it will go back underground with men holding the girl down and cutting her with dull dirty razor blades, spreading infection and HIV. We should be working harder to change the perceptions of female sexuality rather than enacting ineffectual bans.

  Ever Got the blame?? (sorry if post is too long)

  i have been df'd for around 4 years and have not got my back up about the org until this year.

  only this last year have i been looking around for answers and started realising there is a foundation for my reasons of not going back.

  at first i was happy that it wasn't because i was making excuses for not going back but bad things were happening outside of the people i know across the org.. what pissed me off the most (and the reason i found this site) is because i got the blame for my brother in-law having sex in my house with someone other than his wife (my sister) because i am not witness and thus have low standards.. i'll try to keep this short: i have 2 sisters, one brother and 2 parents (fancy that) both remarried however.

  They are both adults for god's sake they should be held accountable for their own actions regardless of whose house they are in. You are not their keeper and fortunately you were gracious enough to provide them with a place to stay when they had been too irresponsible to get home on their own.

  i would like some advice from any of you that have been there - a good friend of mine had an affair years ago, ended up working with the same guy and is now in love with her boyfriend instead of her husband ( several kids involved) the affair is now not a physical one but there is no doubt they are dating.

  i wish i was unaware but i am - she says she has picked her family over the boyfriend but he is like a bumble bee around her- walking her dog past her house etc the boyfriend is older, married and has always been a tomcat - now he is truly in love and will wait.

  i have told her it is going to blow up - and i know it is her deal to figure out - but i am from the happily married class and am at a loss.

  If she honestly wants to make a go of her relationship she needs to break things off with the boyfriend and not to have any contact with him whatsoever. I think ideally she should make the decision of whether to stay with her husband or not based on their relationship rather than the boyfriend. Who knows if things with him would even work out. If she is unhappy enough to leave her husband and kids then sure she should divorce as amiably as possible, work out custody arrangements and then wait for the boyfriend to be simiarly free of attachments to get together. If she is not unhappy enough to leave him (assuming there were no boyfriend) then she should not divorce simply for him. As for staying together for the kids, if the parents are unhappy it can still have an impact. However, so can instability such as their mother becoming involved in numerous temporary relationships. Don't look at me, my boyfriend and I stayed together for the cat.

  you all know how it works...you post a few topics, comment a few times and pretty soon people get to know your name, then they p.m. you and you start talking, then suddenly you find out through their posts and comments that they were lying to you.

  has this happened to you?

  Not that I know of. Everyone I have talked to through the forums have been very genuine, honest and caring people via pm, email, IM, etc. Unless someone turned out to be an undercover JW trying to out people I doubt I would care much. Some feel the need to fabricate people or events in order to prevent being outed on the forums.

  i find it interesting reading posts from ex-witnesses or those that are slipping away and yet the terminology is still brain-washed into us.

  i mean, i've managed to stop using the terms myself.

  sometimes i might catch myself using the term "the truth" or "brother" or "sister", but i quickly correct myself.. the fact is for me, as much as i agree with a lot of their values and beliefs, those people were not my "brothers and sisters" nor was the organization "the truth".
