  What have you replaced religion with?

  what have you replaced religion with in your life?

  (by that i mean the religious life with it's rituals, worship and group identity) what is your raison d'etre?

  my youngest son showed me a quote that in my opinion describes the mentality within the organization perfectly.

  here it is: those that think it is permissible to tell white lies soon grow color blind.

  they [the watchtower] adamantly teach that it is okay to ?hide the truth from your enemies,?

  What is the Purpose of this Site - My personal opinion?

  i was a little surprised to learn that many people do not really understand the purpose of jwd.

  many are focused on freedom of speech and the fact that this is a "discussion" board.

  to some this does seem to go against the heavy moderating the board has seen lately, feeling that discussion is suppressed, some going so far as to suggest that mind control is subtly involved here as in the organization.

  In the short time i have accessed the internet,looked on sites,I have found some to be helpful others not,control is there,i suppose a measure of control is necessary,however for some this may be the only place they have to talk,I came out of JWS without the help of the Internet,did not have computer,many others did too.

  One has to be discerning,help is available,some people need to talk about very personal things,counselling would be necessary,someone who would be unshockable.I do not know how it works yet on this site.I have gone through my trials and have received help.So I know the journey out is very difficult for some....fran

  Tina,

  i would say no,unless you are pretty srong.The Elders still have ways of manipulating you,either this is done lovingly,or with a firm hand,either way works.At the end of the day a cult...is a cult...is a cult....I had two elders call on me when i was questioning 'apostate' information.they used police tactics you know.....one firm..one loving/concerned..When it was said to me......Fran.our kids grew up together,think of all the happy times,pulling at my heart strings.IT WORKED for i was not strong enough then,did not have all my answers.I was showing them 'Apostate'info,i wrote to Bethal sending off a list of questions.We discussed these questions when the Elders called.One said "throw it in the bin".they prayed over me said i was confused,decided to extend mercy......what did i say THANK YOU!!!.

  But I received more info,questioned again,more elders,wives sisters.brothers.I thought I was going mad.i was told by a sister that Russell would have never been involved with the things I mentioned,that it was 'apostate'talk.I was told Ray Franz was 'Judas'I asked about all the suicides i heard of answer was;"Well what did Judas do?"I asked about children/babies dying from no blood.Was told not to be silly."No minor child would be allowed to die".I asked why if this law on blood was given to the Jews,why is it they have transfusions do not have a problem with that,for they consider this law to be dietary.also Christianised Jews have blood."I don't know"was the reply."But they argue with God,disobey Him"and this came from a Scholar.Hospital Liasson elder.I asked so many questions for I really wanted JWS to be right.

  Some senior Elders well grounded in the truth have all the 'apostate'info access sites and forums to defend the org:WT have had a lot of bad publicity,I know dsfd are called on,a few in my town have told me,also inactive ones.they tried this with me,over and over,I politely asked them not to call,wrote to them,phoned,I was sent 'Apsotate scriptures,still they called.....finally i sent a letter to PO,and threatened police action,then put a sticker on my window.....(NO VISITS FROM JWS)............I blew my top told them it was no good calling on me like the GESTAPO.

  Told them they were an evil cult.That they misrepresnted God and the Bible to me,that they have a history of falseness,that they have lost all compassion..........That their org is a false prophet full of counterfeit words........Deut18.

  They are trained to deal with every kind of situation.......All the love and concern i initially had changed suddenly i was satans person,a dog returning to the vomit.a pig.the looks of hatred from friends unbeleiveable,THE LOVE IS CONDITIONAL we will only love you if you OBEY.

  Don't go back to this....you are free now,no-one has the right to control you ever again.Love Fran

  i dread christmas this year.. i have no-one to celebrate it with.. .

  i mean, sure, i could invite myself to join in the merryment at some friends places.

  but all my friends are celebrating with their parents, and so i won't do that.

  (don't question, some things are not for us to understand,that certain people are chosen-and we have to accept that.

  i was raised a catholic,very strict,then years later a JW, then during my time of confusion (coming out)I ran around looking for God this church,that church,which church?All different,then i came upon signs and wonders, was told i could be 'a god',health an wealth,prosperity,gold teeth.I thought the whole world has gone nuts.

  It was a nightmare,then i discovered the true church are the People.His bride,a PERSON not a place.How to be,Love the excelling way,not man made rules and traditions.i attend a baptist church now,and recently looking into 'reformed'Churches,I feel free to do this now that i know WHO to belong to,not about buildings.this is where Christians meet to encourage one another,Also home fellowships.True believers are everywhere to be found..........When Jesus sets you free you really are free.........Fear dissapears.

  For those who don't want Witnesses coming to their door

  this is just some general information for outsiders, (non witnesses) who want to know how to get the witnesses to leave them alone.. .

  each kingdom hall has an assigned area their members are responsible for doing the door to door preaching.

  it may be the whole town or, if there are more than one congregations, the town or city will be divided up between halls.

  blondie's citing of the book on emotional blackmail made me think about books i have found helpful in working through "issues" and i wonder what other people have relied on and found especially important.

  i first bought "taming your gremlin" when it first came out in the mid-eighties.

  it's just been reissued and i'm working my way through it again.

  So many i do not know where to start.my town and nearby,

  We have child abuse,Elders running off with sisters,dodgy dealings,tax evasion,incest,flashers,suicides,mental breakdowns,pervy brothers,

  Pornogaraphic literature,Nazi like letters,threatening to kill.(police involved with this one).It goes on and on ,and the average JW knows nothing.or is bound to secrecy,for the sake of Jehovah's name.I lived under a rock as JW,did not get involved and anything going on was not talked about or put to one side.When i left and staretd to question more.boy oh boy did i discover some shocking things.

  By the way i also have heard similar from the churches,and i now attend a Church,it seems scandals are everywhere.
