how should i handle them?
by stopthepain inyesterday,i watched the football games at my parents house.my parents both went to the meeting.now everyone knows my stance about the religion, but out of respect,i try very hard not to talk about my feelings or discourage them, because that is pointless.. but peppered throughout the day waas comments on the meeting, how the watchtower on alchohol was good becuase unlike other religions jdubs "adress the problems at hand",how an annionted sister died and how she is now"up there talking with jehovah"ect ,ect ,ect.whenever these comments where said,i had all i could do but go off.. i guess i'm pissed because if i was to sayanything about my views on the society,it would be a huge fight ,ending in alot of hurt feelings, but they can talk about things that they believe,as if i somehow will see the light.. at one point ,my father was kind of ragging on the watchtower study about alchohol{he's a huge jw fencesitter } i replied with"don't say anything bad about the society dad" mockingly of course, and i said out loud.
"i'll just keep my opinions to myself".even after i tried to show that i was uncomfortable with that topic ,it didn't stop them from bringing it up.. lately i'm really considering disassociating myself from the religion, for myself, but also to test my family.why should i have my name listed as a babtized jw(i was babtized at the all knowing age of 12}?why should they not talk to me even if i was disassosiated?is this a selfish thought?do i want to do that to see who my family loves more,me or the org?i can honestly say i don't care about my relationship with my family if they treated me different.they abandoned me once when i first left, but a few years after i left they softened.all you have in the world is yourself, ive learned that thusfar the hard way.. this religion is ,as far as i can tell, will always play a part in my life--------one way or another, whether i want it to or not.stp.
p.s.thanks whoever runs this site,it has been a great outlet for me personally.also, all the members, thanks.even you bradley!

I DA'd by way of getting DF'd. What I did was tell the elders that I did something that was a DFing offence (which I never did) and to never come to my house again. So I never attended any JC's or stepped into a KH ever again.

All you have in the world is yourself,Ive learned that thusfar the hard way.
It may seem that way at first because the JW's don't allow you to have anything to do with anybody outside the cult. I have many friends that I can count on that is not "conditional" (believing as they do). You yourself have probably have had many opportunities to develope such friendships but because of the conditioning of the cult you might have passed up on this opportunity and not be realizing it. Even when I was still "in" I had nonJW friends that treated me better than any JW "friend". Hell I have friends that are more concerned about my wellbeing than any family member still serving the book bindery that calls itself gods channel.

I believe that the programing on the forum is optimized for IE. Not all of the other features work if you are using different browsers.

To fade or not to fade--Judicial question.
by FreedomFrog ini just got off the phone with one of the elders.
they said that if i do go to the jc and ask them to help me understand why they believe certain stuff and then ask for a study i will probably not get df'd.
i can "bow" down to them and do their little game if the results would help my family.. i love my family very much.

They are just saying that to get you to the JC. You guys where caught "red handed" with xmas decorations. Which means everybody in the KH probably knows about it, they HAVE to DF you to keep the rest of the RF inline. They are just tickling your ears to get you to show up. It will be nothing but an inquisition when you get there. They are not going to help you understand anything because "you are babtised" and should already know the JW stand on the doctrins.
I feel for you guys, it's a no win situation that you are in.

In Jesus name,,,amen!
by frankiespeakin ini find it hard to beleive that one needs a certain formula to follow in order to pray to god.
any formula you find got to be a human invention.
it is hard for me to imagine a god that is so petty that he won't answer a persons prayer unless they follow with the ending "in jesus name" come on that sounds crazy.

I have been out since 92 and from what I understand they have changed the doctrine of the mediator to being for the 144,000 only. So shouldn't the rank and file be praying to the WTBT Corporation as the savior for them?

Something Stinky? Give me your thoughts on this info,,,
by BONEZZ inhttp://www.dec.org/pdf_docs/pnacs222.pdf

Maybe this branch is used for the region and not just India.
India does have a large population so there are a lot of potential converts. Growing population pressures and economicly challenged poplulation equals prime assimulation opportunities for the bOrg.

Time for a chat?
by mrfunkleberry inevery year about around christmas i get a knock on my door from jehovah?s witnesses.
this is not something i discourage or dislike.
i believe encouraging debate on important issues is almost frowned on in western culture, and i genuinely enjoy the chance to discuss and learn.

If you want to debate active JW's here is a good place for it.
