Hey Jez! good points. Still, why take a private issue and make it a public fight? The end result will be a worse situation than already exists. A person should choose their battles carefully and this issue (to me anyway) is not a battle worth fighting. My feelings would be that I want nothing to do with those who shun my loved ones or me (I guess I'd shun them in return). However if one is inclined to force the issue then do so in as forceful a manner as possible.

I liked your letter but I wouldn't send it. Why give them satisfaction of knowing you and your daughter are hurt and besides the letter won't really change anything. I know that the pain you have esperienced makes you want to hit back but don't, you're better than they are.

my daughter is being shunned by her cousin (2nd cousin to be technical) at school.
she is 8 her cousin is 10. what burns me is that my nephew went years hardly going to a meeting.
(he didn?t feel good about himself and is very insecure) his wife would show up twice a month to a meeting and leave part way through.
I wouldn't say anything. The shunning of your daughter just goes to prove how petty people can be. There are a lot of petty people in the world and in the WTS as well. I hope your daughter understands the hypocrisy in what her cousin is doing and that it makes her a better person for it.

so often , on this board, we see imposters claiming to be interested in learning the truth about the "truth".
they may seem to genuinely want to know things and they might ask thought-provoking questions.....so how do you know if the person you're dealing with is the real deal or not??
any tips to help us know who those "fake apostates" are??
I understand the dictionary definition of an "apostate" and I suppose that definition fits me. However, I have my own definition, which makes me more comfortable as it does not fit me. I (and it is my opinion that is important to me) apply the term apostate to those that have knowingly bent and twisted the word of the God of the Bible. Using my definition makes the WTS an apostate organization (one of many). I don't like apostates and this means that I don't like the WTS.

bit of background.
i grew up as a jw i left the church when i was 14 because a ministerial servant who was conducting a one on one baptism study with me said that i couldn't ballance my dreams of being a professional singer with the so called "truth".
i stopped the study and told my mom i no longer wanted to be a witness.
I am thankful for the "real" truths I learned and the skills I achieved via the Theocratic MS. Anyway, I had felt for years as though many of the WT teachings regarding Christian love, forgiveness and charity, etc. were in diasagreement with what I had observed. This puzzled me but I was not overly concerned until things happened that effected me personally. I was in denial that the WTS was not God's organization for a long time. Now that acceptance of the WTS' real nature has crystalized, I feel a bit smug. I am still in the Org. (officially) but my whole perspective has changed. Am I angry with the WTS? Yep, but I'm far angrier with myself for having been duped for so long.
Disbelief in the WTS is for me not disbelief in the God of the Bible. This means that I believe the WTS is now reaping what it has sewn. I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for them.

i know this may sound strange but i would like some input on the following.
i have a handful of friends (some in the org and some out) that are saying that "god" is talking to them.
he is communicating directly or using an angel.
Regading the inquiry as to how many people the Phenomena is happening to? It has happened to 5,401people and several horses. You can trust these figures as they are from the same sources that you referenced.

in a recent thread someone said that bagpuss was a good name but didn't know what it meant.. bagpuss was a character from a childrens programme in the 1970s and is becoming popular again now.
i chose this name as like bagpuss i am soft,cuddlyand loyal, but will get the claws out when needed.. why did you choose your 'alias' and what does it tell me about you?
I chose FairMind because I know that there is more than one side to every story. It bothers me a lot when JWs don't respect the right of others to honestly believe differently than they do. It bothers me just as much when non-(or ex) JWs don't give the same rights of opinion to JWs that they want for themselves. Remember, whether someone chooses ignorance or knowledge, the choice is their's to make and the consequences are their's to reap.
Justified criticism of (and legal action against) the WTS and some of it's members is certainly warranted as it is for any other organization and some of their members. Being "Fair Minded" I feel that ridicule of anyone or any organization is never in order, warranted criticism yes, ridicule no.

why are jw's so haughty about the bible?
having to deal with my dad and my brother any question you raise to them they act like your an complete a##hole.

Don't you know that the Bible is an organizational book to be interpreted correctly only by the FDS class? This is why only JWs correctly understand the Bible! In fact we JWs are more right about what the Bible says than anyone else, even when they are right and we are wrong. This is a fact until new light says otherwise. (he..he..)

how do witnesses honestly view their close non-witness relatives that will never become witnesses?
Once my family and I got over our initial zeal for the "truth" we did not treat any of our relatives any different than before. The exceptions of course were birthday and holiday celebrations. Not participating in these celebrations was never a big deal to me but in hind sight it probably was a big deal to our non-JW relatives.
