If you don't hear about "the Kingdom" you won't be destroyed so why preach?

witnesses believe in these last days, if you never spoke to a witness or heard about the kingdom, jehovah will not destroy you...you will have a second chance in the new system to study.

so why bother preaching at all....there will be time in "paradise.

JWs say that not everyone on the planet will get preached to, and the ones that don't are figured to be judged by Jehovah as unworthy, so don't worry about them.

Obviously not everyone will hear the Good News of God’s Kingdom before Armageddon and everyone destroyed at Armageddon will be destroyed eternally since it is Jehovah’s destruction.

Now here is an interesting question, how many will there be left at Armageddon? Most of mankind will probably die during the Great Tribulation and will still qualify for a resurrection. The world stage is being set for Global famine (peak oil, etc.) which Jehovah could use during the Great Tribulation to warehouse most of humankind. Those left (other than faithful Christians) will be those responsible for ruining the earth in a spiritual, moral and physical way and deserve destruction. This certainly fits the world leaders and those who put their hope in them (remember the mark of the beast?).

Soul is a Living Breathing Being and not immortal

Bible is God’s word and written for our benefit

Applying Bible principles will make one’s life smoother

God’s kingdom is ONLY hope for mankind (look what’s going on now and argue otherwise)

God is not partial (but the organizational authorities are)

One must look to Jehovah and not man (this is a forked tongue teaching as one is always directed to look to the organization)

Did you enjoy being a JW meetings,field service ect??

Meetings

- I enjoyed the ones (like WT Study) where I was able to participate. Service Meeting was /is terribly boring.

Field Service

- I actually enjoy field service because of the social aspect of it and also because I enjoy talking to people about God’s kingdom. My problem is I don’t enjoy getting up early.

Talks

- Like to give them and always try to make them good through preparation. Hate the time and mental effort of preparation.

No Emotion at Funerals

i was a chaperone for my daughter's out-of-town volleyball tournament last weekend - got to meet another mom that had grown up in the same area i grew up in.

she proceeded to ask about my childhood, etc.

and i had to spill the beans on my jw background (i usually keep this to myself!

My 17 year old un-baptized daughter died in an automobile accident. This was and still is the worst tragedy I have experienced. The funeral (a JW funeral) was held at the funeral home and all of the family including aunts , uncles, cousins and of course me balled our heads off. Many of my daughters High school friends also attended and there were many tears there as well. No one (other than family) from the congregation cried but they weren’t close to her.

The talk of course focused on God’s kingdom and the resurrection hope and yes, the speaker suggested that for sure my daughter would be resurrected. The current light at the time of my daughter’s death was that almost everyone who died pre-Armageddon would have a resurrection. The old light (error) was that if a person knew the “truth” and did not dedicate their life to God they would not have a resurrection. There were a few false friends who clung to this line of thought and let me know that my daughter was eternally lost. This hurt but I knew they were just ignorant people much like my Baptist relatives who believed in a burning hell.

I have attended many funerals, particularly Baptist ones where the focus of the sermon was on the deceased. I was always amazed at how wonderful the deceased was described even if they had been sorry excuses for human beings. This was nothing but hypocrisy and was done simply to placate the living attending the funeral. Of course the deceased should not have had their dirty laundry exposed post mortem. Probably the less said about them would have been the right thing.

Very true! It also means that it becomes increasingly more difficult and expensive to keep production at current levels (and eventually impossible). Couple this with the rapidly increasing global demand for oil and you understand why oil and oil related prices (food, fertilyzer, etc.) will continue to escalate. Current production of oil/natural gas is about 85 million barrels a day with current global demand being about 87 million barrels per day. Production WILL decline and demand WILL increase. In fact, China alone at its' current rate of oil use will be demanding about 85 million barrels of oil a day within ten years (entire current world production).

The outcome of all of this is that everyone on earth will be effected. We will have to change our life styles and expectancies drastically. Also, all alternative energy rescources (oil shale, tar sands, wind, solar, nuclear, etc.) will need to be exploited in order to help meet global energy demands. If demand is brought under control quickly enough and if energy production is raised quicky enough (this is all a very big IF) then we might just avoid the worldwide famine and starvation of hundreds of million people that some predict. This a a very SERIOUS problem and we do ourselves a disservice if we view it otherwise.

$10 gas

my father-in-law heard from someone who has connections with the higher-ups that the society thinks gas will be $10 a gallon in january.

i'm "bookmarking" that statement on my calendar.

if january comes around and gas isn't $10 i'm going to remind him of "what the society said".

I think you'll see government step in and force the price down somehow

High gas (oil) prices are a result of world oil production being less than world demand thus it is a seller's market.The worlds oil fields have reached their peak in ability to produce oil. In fact oil production will decline as time passes. Demand is going up (India and China are on board now) and increased demand coupled with dwindling supplies will result in a steady increase in the price of everything. The governments cannot cause the supply of oil to go up but maybe they can do something about the demand (rationing perhaps?)

There is hope though (not short term though) for countries like Canada with their vast reserve of oil tar sands and the USA with it's 1.5 trillion barrel of oil contained in the Green River Oil Shale reservoir. You'll never see cheap gas again but energy independence from OPEC is obtainable. Mark my words you will hear more and more about obtaining oil from oil tar sands and oil shale in the fairly near future.

vasil "bill" sekela was a co back in the '70s and as i mentioned on another thread here "he was a pint-sized emperor and a veritable human tornado.

every congregation he passed through was a scene of devastation afterwards.

we hade one if you served him a meal with onions he would not eat it and said to one sister"don't you know i can't eat this!

" no she did'nt.

the latest co around here if you have them for a meal you get a list what they will not eat.
