Maybe I would have stayed if i did not have to revolve my life around trying to get to meetings on sun. tue. thurs. and service and studying. between meetings and work i had no time to think for myself. but i guess they don't want you to think anyway. Also being told it is not right to date anyone who is not a jw. i did it their way and married a complete psyco bitch. She was wacked out.

What Might've Kept You Still In The Organization?
by minimus insome people left the organization because of the united nations scam, 1975, the "generation" change, child abuse issues, not feeling the "love" of the brotherhood, etc.
in all honesty, is there something----that if it hadn't happened----would have kept you still in?
for example, if the child abuse issues were resolved properly, perhaps, some of those that left because of the mishandling, might still be at the meetings.

Do you think we're just doing what the JWs expect by being here?

i love reading on here, lurking if you will (i am a woman of very few words) but you know, i still remember what those anal warts (elders) would say at meetings about "apostates" etc.
do you think we're just playing the part because we left the org, i mean, do you get what i'm saying?

What i have found here is a group of people who have all gone through the same trials and tribulations in the org. that i have. Not too many people in the world understand what a life of fear we all lived in because of the programing we recieved at the kh. Almost every human thought and emotion were given a bad name. I lived life in such an oppressed state that yes i am bitter to the dubs. i think of all the years i wasted and all of the efforts i had given the org. and i am disappointed with them. I am also upset with myself for not acting on my doubts sooner. But here i find comfort

by Mysterious ini keep hearing how everyone posts and says that no one in the congregation noticed or cared about them..i have the opposite problem.
i can't get sick of miss anything and they are all swarming around me "making sure i'm okay" telling me "how much they missed me" and some of them quite sincere about it.
i just wish they would all leave me the hell alone.

I remember when i was in one kh i had tore up my knee and could not get out of my upstairs apartment. I only had one visitor from my kh in 2 months i did not even get 1 phone call. But when I was in my last hall and i had lost my interest in being a dub, I could not get away from them they were at my door every sat. and sun. It was horrible i could not keep them away until they showed up and i was having a big party with all of my worldly friends and we were all blasted out of our minds. That did the trick. i did not see them again.

My family has never been happier!

i guess i missed the get-together in dallas, hopefully i will get to the next one!.

Merry Christmas Redneckgurl, like your family this is my first Christmas too. My fiancee and her son and her parents are making this a most amazing time for me. I hope that now that you are away from the insanity of being a JW that you can now really enjoy the life on the outside. I hope that all your families Christmas wishes come true. Truely enjoy the times you are now going to have and try to make up for your lost time by savoring the times like these.

by HarryPotter inalmost the majority of us know that there is a secret book just for the elders which is called "pay attention..." everybody knows that the society defends herself saying that the book is not secret becasue it was shown to the witnesses in an assambley and there is a picture of it in the book proclaimers so she askes how the book could be a secret.
well, acccording to my dicctionary for learners of english says: secret; something that is secret is known about by only a small number of peple, and is not told or shown to anyone else.
so the book is secret.

i think it has the formula for the secret mind control drink. you know the one that you drink at the picnics where almost everyone in the cong. is invited to. thats the drink that has the lemon lime pop mixed with some sort of fruit juice. i really hated that stuff. needed 151 rum.

i always hated those nights. my mom and dad would always try to make me raise my hand to answer the questions. thank god for the true and false questions. that was the only way i was going to ever get one right. thankfully i did not pay that good of attention at the meetings. now i have less programing to get out of my cranium.

Should I invite the parents to our wedding??

they have pretty much totally cut him off since he moved in with me.

hey everybody i am smurfy's fiancee. we both are very happy to get all these suggestions about our wedding. even though i am very bitter to my parents i will invite them. but i was going to send them a letter to them telling them about the kind of wedding we are going to have. this way when the stuff that would offend them happens they can't say that we were trying to decieve them. so hopefully that will keep them from coming to the wedding because i want to be able to enjoy our wedding day without feeling like i am guilty of murder. i hate to sound like a jackass but i am sick of their lack of respect for my life decisions.

Should "Merry Christmas" Be Replaced With "Happy Holidays"?
by Kenneson init seems that some think that "happy holidays" is more politically correct than "merry christmas.
" they take offense to the word christ in christmas and want to replace it.
personally, i think we should keep the words.

No Way!!! You wouldn't say "happy holiday" for Valentines day or fourth of july or st. patricks day or "happy anniversary of your birth".....so why change christmas? just because there are a bunch a religions having different celebrations around the same time of years doesn't mean that we all have to change the way we refer to what we beleive.
