After JW, do you hunger for all the things you didnt do..simple things
by LyinEyes inbeing raised a jw, i honestly did not know what a great big world we live in.
all the places i never went to see, things i wanted to do,,,, because i figured , i will just do that when the new world gets here.
there was always going to be forever to do all the things that make life interesting.. i settled for the here and now as a good jw, meetings, field service, studying the same material over and over in the wt publications, and that was my life.

I now live my life like there is no tomorrow. I don't know what will happen in the future but i lost the first 26 years of my life to the borg. I won't let the rest of my life be hindered by man made rules that i don't agree with. I don't ever wake up one morning when i am hopefuly 90 years old and think that i have missed out on somthing that could have changed my life for the better. I am going to cherish every moment in my new life with my fiancee and my new family and friends.

JWD Kids
by Lady Lee inover the past few days it has come to my attention there a lot more people here who have kids who were raised as jws but are now free because you, the parents, are free.. some kids seem to do very well with thier new-found freedom.
other kids seem to struggle with old fears implanted byt the wts.. i remember when i left.
it was hard on my girls.

As an adult the transition from being stuck in a cult is difficult enough. I can't imagine what it would be like being a child and finding out that your whole life that you have lived has been a lie. Lady Lee you are awsome thank you for being a good person.

We gave them our letters of DA
by Redneckgurl inwell, i guess it will be official very soon, the announcement will be read and we will be "lost" into satan's world... my husband gave our letters to the elder who came to visit us with his wife the other day.
this is the 3rd time they came by in the last month, even after he told them he would call them if we wanted to "talk".
they saw the christmas tree shining through the door, brightly lit, so there could be no question that we had already taken some steps away.......but he still stayed for an hour trying to convince my husband that it was the "truth".. later that day my parents came over (i wasn't here) and he said my mom just looked at our christmas decorations with jealousy in her eyes.

Former "Elder's Wives" reactions to "brief" Elder's Meetings...............
by Sunnygal41 inladies, since maverick posted his topic, i just had to post one for us ladies!
in fact, i wanted to just share a nightmare basically on the same topic, that i had last night.............just a refresher course on my status: i was a dub for twenty-five years, met a worldly guy when i was 18 and he came in to the "truth".
we dated, then got married at 21. we were married for twenty years, then i told him i wanted to end the marriage.

I remember seeing all the elder's families waiting around for them to finish their deeds. I always tried to stay around and talk with them just to try to keep them company. I could tell that after a while it would really wear on them.

The cheque is in the post... WTS style.
by LittleToe inthis evening i received a cheque from the wts!!!.
they actually finally refunded my last two payments to the worldwide work fund, which had been taken out of my account by direct debit erroneously, when my bank forgot to cancel as directed.. i now have samples of peter ellis and ron drage's signitures, which i will photocopy for posterity before cashing said cheque, forthwith, in the morning.. oh, and get this... they called me "brother", and sent me "warm christian love and best wishes" (sounds like a crimble card) in the covering note that was attached.. i can't be as notorious as i thought .
further (in addition to the seasonal greetings) it was dated 4th december, which is my birthday.. bless their little cotton socks, for giving me a birthday present, too!!!.

Flu and what the Dr can do!
by Elsewhere ini should have listened to the advice given to me by big_tex... in my post about being sick he said that i should go to the doctor.. i never go to the doctor for viruses.
my understanding has always been that they can't really do anything to help you, other than treat the symptoms (antibiotics do not help with viruses).
this has been true, until a new anti-viral medication came available about two years ago.

Update:The New Arrangement For Regional Printing.$$$.
by Blueblades in2004 yearbook, highlights page 21 thru 23.. on september 1,2001,seven brothers from different parts of the world were selected to serve as a printing study group.the governing body asked these brothers to make a study of all the printing branches around the world and to recommend ways to use these existing facilities to a greater degree.on the basis of the study group's recommendations,on october 17,2001,the governing body gave approval to regionalize the printing, with each region taking care of its own printing needs.the regions are africa, asia, europe, north america, and south america.. the new arrangement went into operation at the beginning of 2002.the results have been encouraging.consider book production.in the year 2002,the united states branch produced almost 50 percent of the books for the world.but now, under the regional printing arrangement,it produces just 26 percent.this has resulted in a reduction in shipping costs, $$$$$$ staff, machines, and needed floor space in the united states printery and in more efficient use of existing facilities in other countries.$$$$$$$$$$$$.
in conjunction with the change to regional printing, the governing body approved the purchased of seven new man roland lithoman printing presses.$$$$$$$$$ these will replace aging and less efficient equipment, thus helping to care for future printing needs.five of the new presses, some of which have already been installed, are for the branches in brazil, britian, japan, mexico, and south africa.the other two are for the printery at wallkill, new york, where they are slated for installation in april and may 2004.each press is 133 feet long, will produce 90,000 magazines or magazine - size signatures for books per hour ( 25 per second ),and will be able to print in full color on all pages.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
additional changes in brooklyn and at wallkill.

Ozzie's Weekend Poll #77
by ozziepost inhow's the weekend been treating you?
here on the eastern seaboard of oz we've had some really hot weather - at least the suddenness of the hot spell made it seem all the hotter!.
another thing we saw this week was the rural roads around bethel chocked once again with tourist coaches full of bethel visitors who were taking advantage of the "privilege" of visiting the australia branch after the international convention was over.
