what would you say if a loyal dub was to go to work for an organization run by masons?
say for instance a hospital?
do you think this would cause certain ethical probs or no?.

from california: "lawsuits allege abuse.
compaints target jehovah's witnesses congregations".
http://www.montereyherald.com/mld/mcherald/news/local/8255112.htm
Just read it. Thanks for posting. It's really a horrible shame that these abuses happened. The only good to come of it will be the eventual bankrupting of the WT.
Gotta believe their credibility currency is shrinking just as fast as their cash!

where would you go?
whose wall would you sit on?

Oh, wow!.... No brainer. Any of four walls at next meeting of the Governing Buzzards!

ok, we know that field service, for the most part is unproductive.
that is, very few newly baptised jw's are from converts.
that means that most dubs make babies, indoctrinate them, and they become dubs.
Thanks Gary......, I think I got that.

Ok, we know that field service, for the most part is unproductive. That is, very few newly baptised JW's are from converts. Right? That means that most dubs make babies, indoctrinate them, and they become dubs.
Does anyone know what the approximate percentage of dub kids stay in the "troof"? At least long enough to make little dubs? In my own case it was only one in three.
So if two dubs (my former wife and I) made only one dub, and she marries and has similar "success", doesn't that signal the eventual end of the chain? Just wondering.....

i want to compile a list of ways the wtbts has gone beyond scripture.
deciding that god will destroy you forever if you smoke cigarettes.
i know someone will come back and say there have been 900 threads on this subject.
Gosh, there's so many.
But how about the whole idea that you need to devote a certain "quantity" of time to please God. ie: field service, five meetings a week, etc. Where's that written?

i think most jws are not virgins when they get married.
i'll bet the majority have "fooled around".
what's your opinion?
Years ago when I was a young, single brother, no one I knew (my age) was having unmarried sex. When some scandal did happen.... it was big news!
I married a JW girl and she and I were both virgins on our wedding day. She 18 years and myself 21 years. Way, way, too young!
Today, it's probably different, but I have no first hand knowledge.

we went to a chinese restaraunt this weekend.
the whole experience started off bad.
the minute we walked in, the waitreses looked me up and down and started talking chinese loudly to each other.
I'm sorry about your experience there. It sounds terrible. I certainly wouldn't go back...ever.
Point of law: If you are served what you ordered and you eat the food, you are obligated to pay for it. Regarding bad service, you certainly can complain to management, and should. But you did that to no avail. So don't go back, and don't refer them to your friends.
Also....these people who are advising you about using devious measures to "get back" at the restaurant, really make me wonder. There's no way you can justify lying and making up a big stories for the health dept. or do any of the things suggested. Well outside of the bounds of honesty. It's actually childlike, if you think about it. The way school kids might react in the fourth grade.
Just don't go back. Relate your experiences to others. That restaurant will collapse with this kind of scrutiny and comment. Hopefully, that will be good enough satisfaction for you.

many people hate or dislike the jehovah witnesses.
the jw's think it's a sign that they have the truth.
enumerate a few reasons why people dislike them.
Here's two...
1. Preach Christ's message about feeding the hungry, clothing and sheltering the homeless, etc....and do absolutely NOTHING for these people. (Shun programs that do just this, etc.)
2. Use their "freedom" to the fullest, even calling upon the Constitution, Bill of Rights, etc. but won't defend and protect that freedom. (No military service.)

i just remembered that the p.o.
of our congregation showed a group us the dateline special back when it was still new.
i am deeply puzzled by this and can only guess at what his motives were.
I'm curious. Can you tell us what was the setting for the showing? Did he have a few of the Publishers over to his home? I know sure as hell, it wasn't at the KH, or am I wrong, and he actually pre-empted a regularly schedulted meeting and showed it to the entire congregation?
