whilst shopping today i met a young newly married witness couple.
whilst i havnt been in a kingdom hall in over 2 years.
they were very friendly and it was nice we could talk on things other than safe-subjects.
"There's nothing better out there".
statements like this make me want to scream, everything is out there, why don't they see, stupid ignorrant freaking jw's, it's the sort of thing my parents would say too, 'i know it's not perfect but it's better than everyone else', agh, jw's can be as nice and sincere as they like, i used to wish them well, now quite frankly i wish things so bad i can't find the words, they profit by ruining lives.
but they are sincere about it.
would like to introduce myself.
i am a new member to this forum and a new member of studying the jehovah witness bible.
i have been reading the bible since i was a young girl but studying with jehovah witnesses i am new at.
hi, welcome. the only aim of jw's is only to make you 'one of them', whereas the people on this forum care about your well being as a human being, regardless of what you are. i think that sums up the difference between a jw and an ex jw.
ok new idea, was thinking of sharting a hi low post at the end of every week.. the idea came from the move "the story of us" starring bruce willis and michelle pfeiffer.. for all who have not seen the movie, at the end of every day they sit at the dinner table with there kids and all have to tell the rest on the family the high (good thing that happened for the day) and their low ( bad or dissapointing thing that happened for the week).
it can bee as silly or as serious as you want.. just and idea, will trial it for a few weeks and see how it goes.. .
my high: it's now school holidays here, have my kids home for 2 weeks, no more early starts and fighting to get the kids into bed on time.
it's difficult for me to write my highs and lows because they are always very personal and difficult for me to explain.
however i think it's a good topic and i wouldn't like to see it go down with no replies.
those life stories of bros and sis's in the awakes and wts were always very inspirational and encouraging to me when i was in the borg.
everyone enjoyed reading them.
now i realise that these experiences would have been censored and edited for maximum affect on the readers.
i was a hells angel, into drugs, drinking and s&m, i had a beard and wore a cowboy hat, and called no place home, then one day after a party i was on drugs and asking myself why god would let the world be like it is, it was at that moment i heard a knock on m door, and it was two of jehovahs witnesses, they offered me the magazines and took them...

when the borg refers to christendom, does this term include non-christan based religions, such as buddist, hindi, and muslum?.
has anyone actually seen material from the borg that actually address these other religions?
When you say they "addressed" these religions, do you mean they tried to debunk them or tried to communicate with them?
from what i remember of that book it went through each religion giving the jw'ised perspective of it, before getting to the end where it concluded that they were all wrong and that the only way to everlasting life was jehovah.
this is just a hypothetical question, but lets say you are a jw, but with one thing and another you realised that you didn't want to love forever, and so told the elders that not wanting to live forever yourself, you would be unable to to sell everlasting life to people on the doors, and that if you don't share the hope of other jw's, how can you really call yourself a jw?
basically you do not feel like a jw because you do not want what jehovah is offering you.. would they df you?
or would they let you fade?

but this is a bizarre one i heard.
you are safest from demons/world/whatever when you read the bible, because all of the angels are standing behind you trying to see it... angels have never read the bible before.

as far as i was ever aware christendom was always referring to any non jw religion, but focussing on christian based stuff, but i don't know what their official standpoint is.
as much information, insight and entertainment this forum provides, some things about its format and design have come to annoy me.
let me start by saying that i think one of the biggest weaknesses of this forum may be the active topics option at the top.
it seems to me that some people may use this option just to see which topics are still alive.

i always browse via 'active topics'. on a board of this size i think that function makes sense.
