should we start screening members?
by kittyeatzjdubs inhttp://www.jehovahs-witness.com/7/94261/1.ashx
after running across more and more threads of this nature...self righteous jdubs wanting to remind us all that we're burning in hell....i propose that prospective members pass a requirement exam.
for example.... 1. have you read or ever heard of crisis of conscience?.

American Hiroshima?
by IronGland in**disclaimer** the following comes from worldnetdaily aka wingnutdaily.
washington as london recovers from the latest deadly al-qaida attack that killed at least 50, top u.s. government officials are contemplating what they consider to be an inevitable and much bigger assault on america one likely to kill millions, destroy the economy and fundamentally alter the course of history.. according to captured al-qaida leaders and documents, the plan is called the "american hiroshima" and involves the multiple detonation of nuclear weapons already smuggled into the u.s. over the mexican border with the help of the ms-13 street gang and other organized crime groups.
al-qaida has obtained at least 40 nuclear weapons from the former soviet union including suitcase nukes, nuclear mines, artillery shells and even some missile warheads.

I think it's possible that 'terrorists' may and could explode nuclear weapons in the US, but if they did, well, that would be something wouldn't it, good grief.
what if...

Can't buy god idea! What about Aliens?
by free2beme inokay, so i do not believe in jesus.
yet i do wonder about life on other planets and see that as much more likely.
well there are species on this planet we have not yet found of insects, etc.
-
dh
1. How likely do you think it is that life exist away from this planet.
I think it is very likely. It is more unlikely in my opinion that out of the whole universe, we are the only life forms in existence. Likewise all religious people believe in aliens of some sort, if they believe in God, Devil, Angels etc... These are all non-human life forms from a place other than this planet.2. Do you believe they visit this world (the Greys, Roswell crash, Area 51, etc).
Yes, although I don't know if they were grey or crashed at Roswell.
3. If they did make themselves known, what would the most important question be for you.
Do you want to buy the Watchtower & Awake

Satan
by susu812 inafter leaving the witness does anyone here believe satan exists?
if yes do you think if we "gave" satan some kind of a challenge to prove he exists would it happen?
if he is so hell-bent on proving jehovah/ witnesses wrong would he go to such great lengths to make sure ppl turn away?

dh
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a being once upon a time that gave rise to the legend of Satan, but I don't think there is such a thing as Satan as JW's would have it. If there was, I would have no problem with him. When I was a JW I could never see how Satan did anything wrong, he just didn't want to be a slave and wouldn't cower in front of the ego of yh and that made him the villain.

Thoughts with everyone caught up in this mess in London. Respect to Tony Blair getting down there promptly and to everyone at the G8, I hope the summit now shows the sons of bitches responsible for this what time it is, by making the decisions needed to start changing the world, in spite of people trying to prevent it.

Live 8! Like Jehovah's Witnesses, all talk and no possible action.
by free2beme inas i enjoy these concerts this weekend, where i got to see pink floyd perform.
i am reminded all the more how much us humans like to put on a good show, but really get very little done.
these artist have spent time, money and effort to end world hunger in africa.

dh
Yes, they gave false hope. As a former Witness, you should understand the harm that does.
I totally disagree. The people who see the Live 8 shows and all the hype are us, not the prospective beneficiaries of the cause, so it's not like we get our hopes up for them to be dashed, because the aid is not for us. Do you really think Bob Geldof or Live 8 is even on the radar when it comes to the millions of day to day people starving and riddled with disease all over Africa? I think not. I do not think they give any false hope at all, because the average person who will benefit from their success (or failure), does not even know of their existence in the first place, or that of the G8 summit for that matter.
Being a former JW I know how to recognise people who criticise others who are trying to do some good in the world, not that it matters but I don't respect that very much, and I think that is just plain stupid reasoning to try to compare Live 8 to the JW's with a punchline like 'all talk and no possible action'. It reads like a cheapshot.
If you think Live 8 = 'no possible action'... please explain to me how you personally would go (or have gone) about achieving more?
So shut up criticising me unless you can understand what I wrote.
What was there not to understand? -
