For all you PETROL & GAS whiners. Stop complaining that it's too expensive!
by nicolaou inhere in the uk we're paying over a 1 a litre for regular unleaded fuel, that's about $9 per gallon for my american friends.
now i'm as aware as anyone that the bulk of my fuel pound goes to the government in duty (or fuel tax) but let's just look at the bottom line cost to you and i as motorists - 1/litre.. just getting the the damn stuff out of the ground is dangerous and expensive, especially at offshore rigs.
then you have to transport it, refine it and transport it again.

"In some areas, people have to drive an hour or more to work-daily"
Its not so different here JWDaughter. Drive into London from the commuter say 30-40 miles from central London, as many do and 1-2 hours each way is the norm, and of course you can stick the congestion charge on top of that - but thats another story. -

Did you help clean the Kingdom Hall, yard work, maintenance?
by Thechickennest inat one hall i attended for serveral years had a lawn covering large man-made burms with trees and bushes.
it was a difficult yard to mow and maintain.
i have often wondered why we all pitched in and worked so hard for nothing.

Yes. I would frequently strim & weed around the gravestones. I bet many here didn't have to do that.

Branch Davidians thought it was Armagedon ane died what would bethel do?
by Witness 007 in1993 the atf storm the waco compound and david koresh and 82 followers burned to death.
to them the attack was the begining of armagedon, and the furfillment of prophecy.
the more the atf pushed, the more they thought they were god's people, who were being persecuted, and pushed into the apocalypse.

Hopefully those in charge over there have now learned how to approach groups with this type of profile.

"Wow. In my area it was some good CO's that kept bodies of Elders who were prone to stupidity in line. Without that check some of these BOE's are going to act like independent contractors and it's not going to be pretty."
Thats correct, however I think exiting Co's could join forces with the better Elders (with some level of demotion for your rank & file Elder)and control each congregation more rigidly. -

England 2 USA 0
by digderidoo inwell i said i wouldn't watch the game but i changed my mind.. ok it was only a friendly, but i have come here to gloat our victory.
usa were poor.. i was impressed with the england fans not booing the american national anthem, sung beautifully by kelly rowland.
a bit different to the ricky hatton fight in vegas.

Do JWs really believe the end is near?
by keyser soze inor do they merely pay lip service to the idea?
i have no doubt that some of them sincerely believe.
but when i was a kid, growing up in the '80s, i didn't know of a single witness, myself included, who didn't believe the end was close.

Thinking back to when I was a believer if I was asked that question I would wholeheartedly say yes. Did I really, really believe it to be near? err yes, I guess. Being honest with myself now however I recognise that it was always a rather hazy notion, one that I didn't really open my mind to think about clearly, but just accepted. I wouldn't call it brainwashing because in many ways I was the one responsible for not being critical of what I believed - I wanted that belief as a reality. So I would say yes, they do believe the end is near, but it's a fragile belief if explored too deeply.

This is what I feed my cat, he likes the Soufflé version best, it's is the only wet food I can get him to eat on a regular basis.
