Stop! Where are you going?
by Maverick insomething disconcerting i have noticed about most people is how unhappy they allow themselves to become.
so many people qualify their enjoyment.
"i will be happy when", or if this happens then i will be happy!

For Single Ones: Do you ever.........
by simplesally in.........want to get married again?
now that we are out of the wtbts, where the mindset is marriage and couples, do you feel the need to be married or get re-married?.
sometimes, i think, why would i get married again?

My goal now I am single again is to find a friend that wants to keep the realtionship simple. Like if we want to go out then we do, if we dont then we dont. We can spend wild weekends or romps in bed but we are free to see others. I have done the deep and meaningful relationship thing and it was just plain bad...nearly 20 years of bad. I no longer trust but I no longer want anyone to need or depend upon me. He would have to be free, have plenty of friends to want to go out with and me with mine.
Sure I miss not having someone to come home to but believe me coming home to someone who was a raving looney is scary and I would never want to go through that again! Somedays I think I am sick of not having someone special but I also believe that if I am meant to meet someone I will. Besides which I am so ugly I dont think I am going to have a problem about meeting someone for a relationship! (Long story on another thread)!

Crossing-over with John Edwards
by Waygooder64 ini`m not sure if any on this board has seen the show " crossing-over with john edwards" but for some strange reason the show fascinates me.
if you have not seen the show its basically a guy who does readings for people in a studio audience who have had loved ones die, 'crossing-over' to the next realm.
he then connects with these dead people offering up clues to their passing and only personal things that close family would know about .

A recent investigation by a show here in AUstralia revealed how he does it. Its simple. He has plants in the queue before the show who appear to be audience members. They start conversations supposedly about their lost relations and this stimulates conversations which are then noted. So if someone says oh yeah my mum recently passed away and I hope I hear from her and so on. The plants then probe innocently and get details.
Notice he often just says initials and then its your mum, uncle, cousin and so on then the audience member fills in all the blanks. He will often just mention something that seems incredibly related. I saw one where he talked about a feather and a mother and daughter picked one up in niagra falls and John said it was from the husband. Turns out she talked about it in the line up before the show. Yet it seemed he had pulled it out from nowhere. Its so simple when people really want to believe something. They also mentioned he used to get people to fill out questionaaires before the show too!

You Aussies, Is this true?
by rekless ini met some friends from austrailia and we were talking politics.
they said that everybody in austrailia had to vote.
if you did not vote you are fined.

Well not quite true. It is illegal to not be registered to vote and not get your name crossed off the electorial list at election time. Whether you fill out the ballot papers or not is irrelevant. So it is a law just as road rules are. Yet we follow road rules and all the other laws laid down. I felt it a pointless thing and in the end just went and got my name crossed off as getting your name crossed off a list is not voting. Yet another example of the hypocrasy and pointlessness of dubdom.

Interesting visit
by Puternut ini had a very interesting phone call today.
a sister (fader) called me, and told me how she and her husband (ex elder) have been thinking about me, and talking late into the night about what they could do for me.
they knew i was disfellowshipped now, and remembered the kindnesses i extended to them for many years while i was an elder.

Makes you angry hey. I know of a case where the husband of good standing beat, starved and locked his wife and children in a cupboard and molested his three children and did all sorts of horrendous things to them. She ended up fleeing and has earnt a bad name and was treated appalingly by every witness because she dared try to expose the truth about such a respected person. He never was reproved, disfellowshipped or anything and she is treated like a lepar whereever she goes, looked upon as a nuter and yet the police and everything were called in and there is so much physical evidence its unbelievable.
This is one case that as I got to know the sister better stumbled me no end. However the sister is stil plugging away in the truth despite everything. She wouldnt even think about leaving the truth. I was stumbled because he got away with it in the laws eyes and the dubs eyes. The more I hear the more I am no longer surprised at the stories I continue to hear!

Help Required - I think I'm going mad, bonkers
by Celtic inafter the daylight dwindled yesterday and feeling well satisfied with the pictures that i had gotten earlier, i thought it would be a good idea to go down the waterfront and listen to me and the devil, a local blues band.
there's steve vocalist and lead guitar, morgan who is the bees knees on the harmonica, and retro tony on the double bass who used to practice often with madness, another top of the league band.
i thoroughly enjoyed myself there, listening to the music, my feet and fingers tapping away in tune swiftly to the quite exceptional beats.

Hhehe if anyone tells you, let me know will ya? I have the same problem although I haven't had any offers. I know my problem is no self confidence. I am too busy thinking about how I must be the bloodiest ugly woman on earth as absolutley no one ever appraoches me and stuff.
Infact I know I am so ugly. I went to a lesbian dance unbeknowst to myself that that is what it was and the room was full of really ugly women but theya ll had great personalities. I didn't even get any offers there (not that I wanted any!)
So even though I go out and try nothing ever happens. I end up dancing with the women friends in groups. I dunnno. I am beginning to think it just aint worth the effort! That I am meant to be alone and that no one will ever even ask me for a dance!

A spin-off to Does it ever get easier?
by Joysome inmy question is regards to family though.
does missing your mother ever get easier?
does not wanting to hurt her or even others in the congregation get easier?

No you never stop even when she is no longer around to approve or disapprove. Infact every year it gets harder cause you are a part of her no matter what happens. I hope she wakes up and sees you for the wonderful person you are, regardless of what you believe or dont believe. She is probably assuming that you have all the time in the world to come to your senses and see life her way. Trouble is today is all we have. A missed opportunity never comes again. I hope she wakes up before you or her can no longer wake up.

Disrespectful
by finger inhi, just need to shout about something that happend today.
went to my grandfather in law funeral today in a church of england church, my bro in laws g/f is becoming a witness so she said that she would go to funeral but couldnt join in prayers and hymns fair enough i thought.
when we were seated she picked up the bible that was there for us and was making a show of reading something in it then turning to my bro in law and i could here her saying " they have translated it wrong" or something to that effect, then when the coffin was being brought in we all stood up which in my eyes was as a sign of respect to my grandad, she refused to stand up at any point apart from when we were leaving.

Your right she showed disrespect to your grandfather, his family, his friends and you. One thing dubs are not taught is about respect for others and their beliefs. They show no love to anyone but their own and even that is questionable.
Unfortunatley whilst I was a dub I lost my mother and most of her family so I had to attend many funerals of the Catholic flavour. I can only say that that person has probably never lost anyone close to them. I can guarantee you when it is someone close you dont care about showing off how right you are and how wrong someone else is and be disrespectful. The funeral means more when it is a close person. It brings some closure and many other things. She was there obviously to make a point and nothing more. The point she made was what a disrespectful person she is and that her choice of religion is false and all about putting on a show. It has nothing to do with love!

Add your own Proverb
by JH in.
the book of proverbs is full of wise proverbs that give good advice.
with your experience of life up to now, what proverb would you add to this book?

Cant believe no one added this one:
Sh*t Happens
Or this one:
Life's a bit*h then you die!
Or this very australian proverb:
F**k Off
But I think Homerh had the greatest proverb that suits any situation:
DOH!
