Deception in the Elder/MS Appointment Arrangement
by deaconbluez inthe society claims that all appointments of elders and ministerial servants in the congregation are made by holy spirit.
now, the inexperienced or new witness is under the impression that jehovah, by means of his holy spirit, puts it into the hearts and minds of the body of elders that so-and-so is ready to serve, and the appointment happens accordingly.. but they actually employ a sort of deception with this process, because when they say, "holy spirit directs all appointments of men in the congregation", they actually mean that each brother considered for appointment is examined to see if he has the qualities listed by paul in his letter to timothy about the qualities of congregation shepherds.
so they reason that since that writing of paul's was inspired by holy spirit, then by extension, the appointments which happen as a result of using that list of qualities to examine an individual, the appointment is made by holy spirit.. this is like saying that people are hand-picked by simon for american idol because the regional producers of the show use a list of things to look for in contestants and that list just happened to be written by simon.

You cant fake it. Candiate is scrutinized for years and years. Indivuduals that do not qualify get appointed though some because they hide disqualifications others because the cong needs the help standards are lowered.

The origins of the Star of Bethlehem - was Satan really behind it?
by truthseeker inthere's an interesting dicsussion going on in channelc about the origins of the star of bethlehem.. "the wt continues to teach that the star was in fact a light from satan, who was seeking to kill the child jesus.
what i noted from actually reading the account, is that there is no justifiable proof from scripture, that what the wt teaches about that light being from satan, is true.".
....... and i have to concur.

APaduan, who can determined why things were not done a different way? What we have though is an account of what did happened. Determening from the account, the tricky star was not from God.

here is what I think about the star of Bethlehem in a nutshelf. I am convinced that it was not from a divine source. I believe that it was from an evil source. Here is why: Basically. I agree with the wts theology on this. Astrology or looking into the stars for enlightment does not follow the bible pattern for how God communicates with people. Further, such practice is against Bible teaching. Hence, such interaction with that star could not be from God.
What is most convincing to me is that the star did not lead the magi to Jesus but to Herod, alerting him and causing the death of innocent people, the slain babies and the weeping mothers.
If the star was communication from heaven it would have brought blessings and not trouble -

Do you understand the ransom?
by Fisherman inbecause i am a christian i accept the ransom with a leap of faith but undrstanding it is beyond my imagination.
i cannot justify torturing and killing the innocent, but that is only my thinking.
god must have good reasons for what he does.

The temporary and short term death of Jesus (3 days) makes his "sacrificial death" easier to accept. If God's holy spirit brought Jesus comfort and relief so that it soothed his torture this also would make it more acceptable from a human perspective and emotion.
The Bible says that it was God that sacrificed his son, hence God was responsible for his death. Since the bible says that God is holy, what God did was good according to the Bible.
I think that because Judas killed himself, it shows that he hated what he had done. People that are unrepentant do no see their sin. Judas gave back the money Seems that the ransom could cover his sin too. In fact if the ransom is in fact truth it should be enough payment for everybody.

Puke Alert! Today's Daily Text.....
by AK - Jeff inmonday, december 18. .
moseswasbyfarthemeekestofallthemenwhowereuponthesurfaceoftheground.num.12:3.. among the many bible examples that highlight how humble people are favored with a glimpse of gods glory is moses, who enjoyed an intimate relationship with god.
this humble man, who spent 40 years as a lowly shepherd, likely much of it on the arabian peninsula, was highly favored by the creator in many ways.
