What is consistent through out the Bible in my opinion are God's "standards". First in man's dealings with God and also in man 's dealings with each other and man's dealings with living things and with all "creation". The Bible defines what is good and what is bad. Not the ceremonies and rituals and church goings. What I think the Bible defines as moral is to love God and love your fellow. I think that loving God means not to do bad and if one does bad, one must want to keep, trying not to repeat the deed. I believe that loving your fellow means not to do anything that harms or hurts others and that all dealings with people should be based on love. Man must also respect al living things the earth and the universe.

Reason for splitting up watchtower editions
by Ozner intonight i did wake up and i knew it!
the reason for splitting up the watchtower editions in a public and a study version.
the reason is the same as for splitting up the watchtower society in ccjw, kingdom support, inc, religious order of jw (and local convention planning organisations, read the anderson-files about having no agents everywhere), just juridical!

Dawg,
I think that copyright violations are not dismissed by the Courts because the infringer claims not to make money in violating the copyright. The injured copyright owner can sue for damages resulting from the infringement (whatever they are). The Court may also order an injunction and or impose a fine. Laws cannot be violated because lawbreakers claim they did not make a profit

I do not think that the internet is sufficient to discredit the wts, however the internet I believe has made important information public that otherwise would probably have remain concealed. Such information is essential, again in my opinion, to help some jws make the the right personal choices and decisions that are best for each individual. Decisions which otherwise could have been made in error without careful consideration because of the conviction that the wts in God's proxy. This conviction strongly influences jws thinking.
I am not saying that the wts is not God's proxy and I am not saying that the wts is not who they claim to be. That is a personal conclusion. But in light of the disclosed facts and theories and influences presented on the internet about the wts, a person with such info may decide not to go into full time service or choose higher education or not condemn themselves so much for their sins. And even with wts doctrines, a jw although accepting wts commentary and beliefs also realizes that such position is only viewpoint and not absolute truth or fact no matter how believable the info may seem.
This is what the internet has done. It has forced jws to realize and to concede and to see that the wts has made mistakes. With that established, a thinking jw has to consider that counsel from the wts may be considerable but the internet has given him a broader view of things. Not that a jw should go against wts counsel but that eveyone has to pay the consequences of personal choice. JWS have expressed regret for not getting married, not having children,, not going to college, and now are confused about blood not really knowing that Blood treatment is a sin. A jws conviction on bloodless treatments is founded on faith in the wts spirit directed Bible understanding on Bible verses dealing with blood and fear of infection or fear of other harm believed to be caused by the blood transfusion and fear of divine punishment and fear of being shunned. A thinking person must consider all information availabe to him and in my opinion the internet is very informative

Exciting announcements at service meeting
by truthseeker inwe've already had a post on this, but there were other interesting comments.. the brother giving the announcements said that there would be a new understanding of jesus' reference to the generation as discussed at the annual meeting.. an elder giving a service meeting part review of different watchtower articles from the current year brought out the new light concerning 1935.. he asks: "when is the sealing of the anounted ones?".
elder answers: "there is no specific date".
later after the meeting, i asked an elder if the new understanding of the remnant now meant that younger people could go to heaven.. he answered with an affirmative "yes" and that we would be getting the new understanding of the generation jesus spoke of in a future 2008 watchtower.. .

There is only one thing that I know for a fact and I mean I know and I do not mean I believe, and that is that I know that God exists. What the Bible means and everyting else having to do with doctrines and beliefs, I do not know with certainty, but there are many doctrines that I do not believe in at all. There are somey fundamental beliefs that I think are true, some that I do not believe are true and some that I am not sure about. One thing that I know and am certain about is that God is a real entity.

Did cavemen exist before CREATION?
by Fisherman injesus certified "creation" when he said .."male and female he created them.." and so does the bible.
the fossil record though shows primitive man, homo erectus, etc were around before bible chronology creation of adam and eve.
can this conflict be reconciled?
-
Fisherman
I believe in creation. I have a dilema because I cannot dismiss the evidence showing that man was around before 4028 BCE. I think that is the date wts chronology indicates is the creation of Adam more or less. I was wondering if someone is able to explain

Who is to blame for cigarette addiction?
by Fisherman inpeople usually get addicted to cigarettes when they are children.
the state does nothing or pretends and puts on a show.
ai think that the sate is gulty of child abuse and that it is the duty and responsibility of those in power to protect children from this deadly addiction.
-
Fisherman
Why not then blame parents when their children are victims of sexual abuse? Or perhaps blame the children when a minors becomes sexually invoved with an Adult?
For years children have been victims of sexual abuse with little being done. Only recently, churches and others have been held accountable and they have had to shell out big bucks and held criminally accountable for the harm that they have caused.
What about the harm that cigarretes cause? The state, besides sending minors in cohoots with the gov every once in a while to purchase tobaco from retailers and try to catch them and only giving them a fine, do nothing and profit from this harm.
I think that adults that became addicted to cigarretes as children should be able to sue, the very same way adults can when they were sexually aasaulted as minors.
Tobacco is legal even though it kills and maimes. I think that the state is guilty of child abuse because they make it easy for children.
Note that people become addicted to cigarrtes when they are children.

Cigarrette adiction begins in childhood. It is a form of child abuse. Who is responsible? I think that just as perverted child abusers are made to pay many years after children are adults, so too it is child abuse for children to be addicted to cigarettes. I do not blame children. I balme the state. What do you think?

THe wts writes that even Judas Iscariot was appointed by HS although he later turned bad. At the time of his appointment, Judas qualified for the position. NOt so with elders according to the wts remarks. Elders are sometimes appointed even though they only apparently meet the requirements but do not really qualify at the time of their appointment. The wts is free from any responsiblity when appointing such a candidate that does not qualify by declaring that the only ones that are appointed by HS are the ones that qualify. That is just great! no?
