this is so sad...
My [present] wife almost died after she gave birth to our daughter 8 years ago. I held onto the blood restriction belief even after many years of not being with the witlesses. But I wasn't going to impose that on her even though she would have [never being a witness] complied if I insisted. HOW SICK WAS THAT??!!! I'm so glad she took blood!!!!!!!!!another close call because of the stinkin bOrg

Parent sleeping with teenagers
by Fatfreek inan ex brother and i were talking recently and he recounted a bizarre story.
he too left the witneys some years ago, got a divorce, and the two children (both boys) decided to stay with his wife since she was still a jw.. one of his boys (never baptized a jw) confided in him not long ago about the sleeping arrangements after he left.
she told the boys that she was feeling depressed and lonely because of the divorce and turmoil that their apostate father had caused her and asked them (ages 15 and 16) to each alternate and sleep with her every other night.. it took lots of courage for this son to talk to his father about it since he wanted it off his chest.

Hello and Welcome Lurking1!!!!
I'm so glad you're here. This thread has put me in a bad way ever since it was started but now with all of the great comments it seems to be turning into a healing thread and now you have come forward inspite of those who would use the internet motto: get over it.
Healing and recovery is a process that these people aren't aware of...yet.
I'm so sorry about the things you [as well as others] have gone through. No, you're not alone.

I just noticed this link Angarhad posted [Thank you Angarhad!]
www.jwfacts.com and found this teaser at the end of the chapter entitled Worship Jesus [ http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/Page426.htm]Once you recognise that
1. Significant Witness doctrines have changed,
2. The Watchtower articles are not totally honest,
3. Even current Witness doctrines aren’t necessarily correct,
then every Watchtower can be read with an open mind. It is earth shattering to do this. You can hardly begin to comprehend how much that you used to accept as fact that you will now need to start to question.
I just wanted to post this because I find it even more freeing from the binds the WTS put me in. This is a major part of my personal recovery work; to continue to reprogram myself until I can be healthy. g

The top part of the skull is removed, exposing the brain. The monkey is under the table and the head is put through a hole in the table so you only see the brain. Grab a pair of chopsticks and have your favorite sauces ready. Bon apetit!

Ever had someone threaten to kill you, and mean it? Just happened to me.
by wanderlustguy ini just had it happen for the second time in 3 years, today.
the first one wasn't that bad, because the guy didn't scare me.
the one today...i think might really try.

If I had been a victim of child abuse I'm sure my thoughts would be different.... but I'm adding my 2 cents to this discussion. A big to do about nothing in my book.
HUH? What is it that you mean 'a big to do about nothing' EvilForce?
Hey BigTex, emotional incest is a good term to me...it's fitting. [I wish I could sue the WTS for emotional/spiritual abuse but, that's another thread...]
It's sweet [and often times an annoyance,LOL] that a child can count on parents [even when their trying to sleep] to always be available to them.
I think there is a major difference between our young children seeking comfort from us when they suddenly appear in our beds compared to a mother/father seeking comfort from a teenager. Regardless of whether or not something sexual occurred, it's inappropriate for her/him to seek that kind of emotional/physical comfort in bed! I'm sorry for rehashing but, I can't help restating some of the great comments on this thread.
Let's talk about these boys [now young adults]: This act DID affect them emotionally because they are talking about it now. Things like this affect how we deal with women when we become of age, don't you think?
I ask, in this context, why is it so hard for some people to understand that something other than a physical/sexual act can be just as detrimental? Does betrayal by an adult mean anything?EDIT: It took me so long to write this that Big Tex pretty much covered what I was thinking before I posted...doh

This sounds more like a mother who felt great loss and looked for comfort from her sons when she should have looked for it from friends or adult family members.
I agree totally. I wish I had the brains to tell my mother that. Even though physical 'sex' isn't involved, emotionally a boy can still be screwed up by something like this. What kind of emotional burden is that to lay upon a developing boy? Isn't the parent the one to comfort and nurture and not the other way around? For me, I think if my mother raised me in a healthy relationship [with her] in the first place, I might understand and have the capacity to comfort her in another way but the more I write this and think of sleeping in the same bed with her....my instinct says this is wrong. [Ewww!] I'm thinking you don't have to have 'sex' for it to be out of line for an adult.
Many grief stricken parents look for comfort from their children. Sometimes adults don't use good judgment when they are in deep emotional pain.
I agree again. Maybe I should send this thread to my mother... Get a teddybear, find an adult or a support group or some other adult people to experience a the closeness you're lacking... or go without. As an offspring THIS is NOT my responsibility. I'm not your husband/boyfriend. You're supposed to give me the tools to have this kind of relationship with my own mate of choice.
Can you tell this is an emotional subject for me...I'll stop now
