i had my bible study today, it was about demons, anyway the sister said that those shows on tv.
against jws are instigated by demons.. i told her about silent lambs and that it was true and had nothing to do with demons.
unless it was the molesting demon elders she was refering to.
"Sorry Galaxy.. they are probably afraid of what you have to say"
I am not sure if they are afraid, but it can be compared on how you don't want to hear their "garbage" and they don't want to hear yours either. When a person has their mind made up something is right or wrong you are not going to convience them either way.
Maybe something is not right with me, but I tell the elders exactly how I feel about things. One elder has taken a very keen interest in me and talks with me almost everyday. I bring up things that I read here good/bad and we discuss them. If he gives some junk answer I tell him. I am sure I might be labled by some others, but ok. You have to be honest to yourself and them. I just do not see how so many let the feelings of elders effect in some cases destroy theit realtionship with god. I have read a lot of post and many here still seem to love jehovah but let bad experiences with elders or other men destroy that. There are others who think it is complete garbagge and that is cool too.
This board has been great for me to see another perspective in things, I truly respect all your opinions. I do find it very interesting how some people felt totally controlled by the orginization, and I have to agree that is not healthy. I personally love Jehovah and try to live my life according, love, peace, and forgivness. I put it in his hands not the elders. In fairness though there are some really great ones who work very hard because they are doing what they think is right. Not bashing either side here.
Be well all!!

Please do not take this as me being offensive, but why not just tell them you no longer want to be a witness and if you ever have a change of heart you know where to find them.
I have no idea what your circumastances are. but if you have made a decision not to be associated with the truth and are happy with it, tell them and get it over with. It is silly to have to live your life in hiding and being upset when someone knocks on your door don't ya think.
I read your first post about your mom, that was way not cool, but if you would have stepped up to the plate and told them from the get-go that situation may have never happend.
Again Please do not think I am being an ass, I was just curious.
many witnesses take pride in being part of a 'clean' organization, but is it really?
consider a few real examples:
you attend a congregation in which many of the young girls get pregnant by their
I agree there are a lot of nice "wordly" people. There is also a lot of horrible people in the world. Same with theJW orginization. my ex-wife was a JW her entire life, and she is down to the core a bad person. Honestly, I have no ill will towatds her at all just a very selfish person ( no longer a JW). My current g/f a non witness (she is Catholic) is hands down the sweetest person one could ever meet. Hands down she is more caring and loving to others than myself, and I am a JW. Jehovah knows each of our situations and hearts, that is why I remain in the faith. Even with the obvious flaws I still believe in a lot of what it says and some of the things I believe no other religion provides that. I have been to MANYother religions to find out for myslef. If nothing else Jehovah can read my heart and see my actions are because the love I have for him and not because the orginization says I have to do this and this and this. I have no problem going out with friends who are in the "world." If they are participating in something I don't like I won't do it. There are people in the orginization I don't consider clean or good influence regardless if they are a witness or not.
What gets lost in a lot of Halls I feel is Jehovah is a god of love and forgivness. The best thing I could have ever done for myself is serve Jehovah and not worry about the thoughts of "imperfect men". At the end of the day if I can say I am doing my best and mean it, then rock.
ok, this sounds kinda stupid, but i've been thinking of it all night long at work.
almost every government and every organization that has used sheer fear to move the emotions of its followers has fell.
and well, people can only be scared and afraid for so long before they either break down into a mental illness, or walk away and say f**k it all.. me and my g/f had a little talk today.
"JWs are the only group that discourages education of anykind "
We all have different experiences, but from the different halls I have been to this seems to be lessing. Some of the older elders do frown on it more so than the younger ones but again, why let what someone esle think control you. I recived 2 degrees while going to the meetings, I can think of 8-9 people with associates, and 6 other getting their Bachelors.
To the original poster, you are in a tough spot from reading your other post. Just be there for her. Listen to her and assure her that people of all kinds make mistakes. Tell her to follow her heart. If she wants to maintain a stron realtionship with Jehovah then encourage her to do so and don't worry about what other imperfect men think. Good luck with your difficult situation.

Another good post. I think a lot of people do fear the elders. I personally do not understand this. There was a post a while back and the lady said the elders came to her house that she moved into but didn't want to see them. I read that post and thought if she is happy with her decision why not sack up tell them to leave you alone, get df'ed or disassociate yourself, but for some there is a lot more to it I guess. I guess it is fear.
I am currently going to the meetings, and I can honestly say I love Jehovah. I am not blind to the fact that the organization has many flaws, but as I stated in an earlier post which ones don't. The biggest thing for me is knowing that I am serving Jehovah and not the WTBS. I can see how people get the teo confused with both.
The elders have talked with me about several questionable things, but the bottom line is if I disagree I tell them. They can show me scriptures all night and I can show them scriptures all night showing that god is more concerned about us loving one another more than anythng else. He could care less if I have a Go-T, etc etc.
For all those still active keep telling yourself that God's number one quality is love and he will make matters right at his time. So if elder so and so thinks you are bad, ok so be it. If in your heart you know you are doing all you can, awsome. Also pray about it. Some here have prayed and feel their prayers were answered when they got out. Again, nobody can judge except god. Elders are have as many flaws and shot-comings as me. I do not view them as superior, and if following bible council neither should they (not the case a lot of the times).
Wow, that was a rant I appoloigize. Again, excellent post. I hope you and your g/f find peace, love and happiness.

That is a good post Jayhawk, there is not a single orginization, religion, or group that doesn't have its problems with pedophilia, heartless people, and at times just stupidness. I think people do get more pleasure at making fun of the WTBS because of how many portray themselves as holy. There are a lot of great Witnesses out there, Catholics, Men of Knights, Mormons, etc....
dear randy,.
thank you so much for your site of objective, non-biased truth.
i was appalled to see that the society owns half of a defense manufacturer!
"have stock in a defense company"
What stocks do they hold? How Much? Do you know where I can find a portfolio of listings that the WTBS invest in?
in the brief time that i've been reading jw-related postings and sites on the net, i've seen a lot of stuff regarding the jw leadership being all about the money with the implication that there is something unsavory about their acquisitiveness.. if that is true, what exactly do they want it for?
from what i've read, the gb seem to live reasonably well (better, in fact, than the average jw would expect, i think) but it hardly seems anything that would have earned them a spot on lifestyles of the rich and famous.
so, why would they be so concerned about amassing organizational wealth?
I can kind of see the point about college leading to escape, but College does not mean intellegence of free thinking. I am sure there are some very intellecent ( some of you try not to laugh too hard) memebers who think on there own. I am also confident that many members do think on their own as well.
Counter point, I am sure if they GB wanted too they could easily have their members go to school and twist it for them to think they shouldn't leave. From reading several post from various members I think that could easily be done. Like I said I do not think one going to college will open ones mind enough to leave or not. If the person desires to get he/she will.
Thanks for the welcome BTW

I think money is imporant to every group regardless. However, if they were all about money wouldn't they have the members be more materialistic so they would have more to give. College anf higher education would be pushed more so they could get better jobs to have more to give.
Just my 2 cents
