The lure of paradise earth?
by little witch incan someone explain to me what the excititment is concerning paradise earth, as the dubs see it?
paradise seems to be the carrot on a stick for witnesses, but little information seems to be offered.
from what little discription they do give it seems to me to be a boring place to be.

I guess there is no real happiness now? If you wait your whole life for something better to come along, you'll never enjoy what you have now. So many people make themselves miserable doing that, and the whole "paradise earth" thing takes it to another level.
paradise sounds boring anyway... whatever will we rebel against?

You too could be a very happy Jehover's Witness!!!
by Elsewhere in.
all you have to do is:believe everything the watchtower bible and tract society tells youdo everything the watchtower bible and tract society tells youdon't do anything the watchtower bible and tract society tells you not to dodo not question anything about watchtower bible and tract society or what it teaches.
if you think you can do all of these thing, then you would likely make a very happy and sucessful jehover's witness!

Mike,
That's really interesting.
More on what it meant to me (ok, back to me now... yes, I realize how that sounds!) - I went through this horrible stage of being so angry about everything, about being lied to and everything I had given up to stay in the organization, and about being afraid to say anything to my family yet and every time I had to go to a meeting it was like this huge dark cloud was pressing in on me, suffocating me. So I finally got sick of that and made peace with my present situation (after lots of therapy) so I don't feel so suffocated. So the "darkness" to me is all the drama related to the Witnesses and having to still deal with it and them, not immediately breaking away, and the "light" to me is the freedom I don't have completely yet, but I have spiritually anyway, and I see it as "peacefully coexisting" in both places, meaning it doesn't have to destroy me to be in that in-between stage right now.
Thanks for your description, too - very deep.

Old email from an elder right before I DA'd myself
by Winston Smith :>D inafter reading shotgun's lovely meeting with his two helpful elders, i was inspired to go back and look at the time when i had the pleasure to meet with the elders.
it was a wonderful experience to observe first hand their stellar ability to reason on matters, to mask their investigations with "we missed you at the meeting, and to just be so damn condecsending.. .
man i'm glad i saved so many of my meetings with them on my computer.. .

Forbidden?......
by Nan in.
will it be suggested at the khs that jws not see the passion of the christ?
besides not be nailed to a torture stake, what other things do you think they will disagree with regarding this movie?.

That it contains spiritual information that didn't come from them......so it must be useless as a movie of inspiration or worth .
So true, how sad. But really the R-Rating probably adds to it.

Peternut, I hope you're feeling better today... I've struggled with depression just at the thought of leaving so I can't know how hard it is for you that you have lost your family, but I know you've got to start by believing in yourself. Your family only cared for you conditionally, but you deserved better than that, we all do. What they think of you is not who you are, please remember. You can make it and you'll be ok, I know it.

Christianity the biggest scam ever!!!
by William Penwell inreading a number of posts here it seems like a fair amount of posters are still into and pushing the christian philosophy.
i would like to start a discussion here that objectively examines the evidence and not base a belief on "blind faith".
after leaving the jdubs, i have read a number of books over the past few years.

I still have a lot more research to do before I've decided if I believe in Christianity or Jesus or the Bible, or if not. Undecided, but skeptical.
