I think they tried to streamline the process and have not as many people working all day instead of taking in the brainwashing. Too many people were having too much fun?

Things that really bothered you.....
by bakedmonkeepie ini was thinking about the "glorious" past of my association with the witnesses..... and i started thinking.
were there ever things that really really bothered you that they were doing, and it made you stop and think about what you were really getting involved in?
mine would be at an assembly.

I have to say I agree with Love Truth, in that what bothers me is the constant attention on things that can be measured. Love for God is measured by time in FS and attendance at the KH, along with all the other things mentioned by Love Truth. There's no importance on the kind of attitude a person has, and it seems everyone is chasing after power and influence. There's lots of politics and a double standard sometimes for certain people. The hateful attitude toward anyone not fitting in and toward the world in general is a big turn off, too. And they are so proud that they are so well informed, when in reality their information is filtered and slanted.

Finally something that works
by SheilaM ini have been struggling(as you know) with depression and feeling like crap...finally the depression lifted enough that i got off the meds yahooo but i still was sluggish (read sloth-like) unable to be the happy, laughing person i remembered from 2000 before my life spiraled.
thunder has tried everything and i just decided to laugh even if i didn't feel like laughing and smiling even though i didn't.
it wasn't him or my life just the risidual effects of low-grade depression.

Guess What? I Got ANOTHER Visit From An Elder Today
by minimus intoday, an elder stopped by my work just to say hello and invite me to the memorial!
he asked me if the presiding overseer had called me yet because he and another elder were going to give me a call at home to set up a visit.
he said they (the elders) decided this on their elder's meeting last night.......so what do you think is going to happen when i tell them i'm not going to allow them to make a "shepherding" call???

It's too bad these people can just walk in to see you... I guess you were bound to run into someone eventually. It should be interesting to see what happens next.

Are you more intelligent since you left?
by Nosferatu inever since leaving the jws, i believe i've become much more intelligent.
i now have to learn from my past mistakes rather than viewing my mistakes as a result of satan's influence.
i now know how to prevent myself from making the same mistakes rather than repeating them due to ignoring the facts.

I think if you define intelligence as how well you stay within the WTS boundaries and how much you know about their teachings, you never grow beyond that. So once you are set free from that way of thinking, it makes sense that you begin to become truly intelligent.
I've noticed my thinking has been changing so much, I'm not the same person I used to be anymore. I actually look forward to where I'll be in 5 or 10 years.

Thanks for that info... I've been realizing that one of the biggest things that drives my decision making processes is the need to please people, and I've been working on putting that behind me. So this really makes a lot of sense to me.
