one thing that always struck me about jw's was their insularity, how truly ignorant so many of them are about the world outside of their world.
to hear many jw's talk, worldly people, to a person, live in a constant state of debauchery.. i would guess that the majority of american jw's were watching the super bowl last night.
towards the end of the game, phil simms (the color commentator for cbs) was talking about how tony dungy (the coach of the indianapolis colts) never raises his voice, never curses, is "class" all the way.
JWs would say Tony Dungy was like the foreign boys Dinah was associating with, they were the kindest, most well behaved of their people, and they still raped her. Tony Dungy to them is no better than a rapist whose act of rape led to the slaughter of many.
You can't argue with that logic!

i've never heard her comments on people that were declared not guilty.
for some reason, she moves on to other cases when other defendants were cleared.

i know its a question that has been asked a thousand times, but what really made you exit the jws .. for instance, my wife and i, having found out about the u.n., 607bce, failed prophecies etc.
gave all this information to my wifes brother, along with many so called friends.
we came out but the brother and friends stayed in.. the only reasoning i can put on it, is that we made an effort to find out for ourselves what was the real truth, the others were told and given written evidence - but still didnt make a decision.
found out it is a cult. my exit is not yet known to them. stupid cult.

they can say the sky is red. It doesn't matter what they "say". It never matters what is said at conventions. JWs go by the watchtower alone, if it's not put into the watchtower, and this will not be, because you remember, he "put down his notes", and really anything said at a convention by a bethel heavy is suspect, it's useless. even if it is put in a watchtower, it can be undone. I mean, in 5, 10, 15, 20 years from now, JWs won't even remember this, they will have been told something like it 50 times and every time they hear it will be like the first time they ever heard it. When will it sink in these are all lies? Ever?

per day and read a few other threads that interest me.
I sometimes go days, weeks, months without even popping in. nowhere near 15 posts a day.... am I getting a little bit apathetic?
Here's the thing about my apathy.
There's someone who recently got disfellowshipped. I found her address recently and composed a really great letter to send, anonymously, and deciced to think about it before mailing it. I ended up being dragged to a meeting recently for the first time in a few months, and I saw her there. I suddenly didn't care enough to send it anymore. I figured, why bother. You know? she's trying to go back. why would she listen to an anonymous letter when she's sitting there in the back like a jackass? She wouldn't listen, and I don't really care that much anymore.
I kind of feel bad about my apathy, but there it is.
i normally delete on sight when i receive one of those mass emails that asks you to pass it along to everyone you know.
i guess there was something about the alleged author returning to school as an adult and having three children that sucked me into reading this one.. aside from the usual "pass this along and you'll have a miracle happen in your life" crap that often goes along with these messages, the story started out quite nicely.
all of a sudden, though, the author's self-righteous and arrogant attitude burst into the equation and made me want to puke.. breakfast at mcdonald's.
I am beginning to realize I hate email. and this is just one of the reasons. do people really care about daily inspirational stories, which must be passed on to 8 friends? lame.
I had a friend who sent me one or two of these things EVERY DAY. I put up with it for awhile and then set my email to not accept emails from her anymore. She hasn't spoken to me since. It was my aol account and I wanted to see what message she must have gotten so I tested it on another email account of mine, and it was fairly obvious I was cutting her off. She had it coming, no regrets.
oh.... how the saga goes on!!

ok..many of you read what happened..our house was egged and so was my sisters car that was parked here, and "frosty" was attacked!!
wow. what a really bizarre thing for them to do. I guess the neighbor was filming fireworks or something and that is how they caught 'em?
if it was me, I probably would go through with reporting the incident to police and if the police wanted me to press charges for it, I guess I would probably do that. only because they were on the property, trespassing, vandalising and due to the nature of the reason they picked your house. It's kind of like stalking, IMO.
I'm only saying this because these guys probably still think they did the right thing, or they did the wrong thing for the right reasons. A little trouble with the police might actually make them understand how wrong their thinking is. Or at least, how illegal their thinking is.
As for the suggestion to send the story to a local news station or paper, it depends on who you want your audience to be. If it's believing, active witnesses, that won't get through to them. How many news stories have they heard and dismissed already? And if it's general population, how many of them would really care?
Whatever you do, or decide not to do, good luck and hope you don't have any more problems with these idiots.

Who knows if the earth will end up a big desert or have another Ice Age? I don't think anything is forever, not even humanity or the planet itself. Did you know the moon is moving away from the earth and could someday maybe move so far away the oceans wouldn't be reined in by tides? The sun might explode, too.
But I'm sure there are certainly ways scientists could find to better control any damage to the environment that could cause monumental problems for future generations. But will commerce or the government step it up in time?
Talks of gloom and doom don't really affect changes, and who knows how much change would be necessary to avoid environmental catastrophe, and how much humans could really control.
That's probably why lots of people just want to think God is handling everything, not to worry.
