just wondering....

not the best time, but we (wiffee and me) are 'getting our things in order' for whatever exit occurs.

new nonjw friends, informed the nonjw relatives we're not jws

told the doc today we're not jws thus remove all non-blood stuff we gave before - boy was she pleased!

I have virtually all my family and friends as jws, so the cost would be high, however, the cost to my conscience in believing, or following or supporting a lie would be higher. I don't have a problem with those who want to fade, or go out with a big bang (liked little toe - awesome!) So I suspect we won't 'stay under the radar forever' but do have some important 'work' to do with a few select relatives and a couple of close friends

boa - who would prefer to da as an act by me instead of them dfing me and making up some talk to 'warn' the cong.

its been a few years but they have literature going a long way back - way before the cutoff on the CD rom.

also, i believe they had the bood of Mormon and there is lots of general secular reference works like encyclopedias and so forth

many different bible translations as well

before this site, I only once dabbled with putting in 'jehovah's witnesses' into a search engine and it was while i was at bethel (when i first was ever hooked up to the internet). I avoided the 'apostate' stuff, however, not before reading about the claim of some impropriety or other by the organization in germany before wwII at some meeting hall. The reference on the net was to a very old yearbook that would normally be hard to find but was there at the bethel library and i looked up the info. It was inconclusive to me and funny enough, that same year (1998) the society came out with an article in an awake I believe, addressing this claim by 'apostates' although how truthful it was I don't know. I never looked for outside information on the org until 8 weeks ago and even that was a fluke looking for a different article on the proposal by a group called 'formulism' to the UN to ban religion. My wiffee found a link to this site where the full quote about the group is somewhere.

he was a ministerial servant within the cong (heading for elder).

As a new exjdub, I appreciate so much that many of you come across as reasonable and calm despite the strong feelings to do otherwise to this organization. What I mean is that treating the rank and file dubbies kindly lends credibility to the course we've chosen.

As a dub I followed the 'rules' strictly and avoided 'apostate' literature like the plague and figured the reasoning book could handle ANY other religion's beliefs no problem - jeece. However, I also always questioned the reasoning behind the great command to avoid such literature for the obvious reason of 'truth' should be able to stand up to 'half-truths and outright falsehoods' (feb15/2004 wt, 2nd study article) that anyone could bring up - another jeece thank you.

Adventures in counting time...or how to waste the entire day in service...

my jw friend was telling me the other day how many of her fellow jw's lie on their time reports...i jokingly said "doesn't everyone?

"..to which she replied...probably.

there were myriads of ways that are universal, but what about the unique ways in which you reached your goal?

before reading the posts here, I thought to myself that I was really honest in counting time in the sense I didn't count hrs that I wasn't actually out in service, however....

I guess I was really fooling myself because while pioneering for several yrs I employed many of the methods mentioned above to stretch time travelling, waiting around, and in counting a break if I went through the drive-thru even if I still stopped somewhere to eat or break - as if that is so much better than just going in and counting the time! sheesh

I do have one technique that wasn't mentioned - going to the 'weak' ones for 15 minutes or so or sometimes longer while in service - a stretch of the rules but one done regularly by lotsa pioneers, bros and sisters. Also, there was a reason the pioneers just LOVED the rural witnessing where it could take an hour or more to do a few calls then have to go back.

Another great one is all the time it took to write up a letter and organize it into envelopes and send them etc. - all counted heh heh. And damn well written by hand not photocopied - that trick got my 1000 hrs completed one year!

What is Your purpose/point for being here?

i get asked that question alot, some even ask what exactly my purpose is!

i can live with it.. if i had to answer my own question, i'd have to say it broken down into a number of points.

a. i like to see what the latest stuff is happening on the "apostate" side.. b. i like to watch the politics of this group.

nothing too fancy for me - I'm exercising my freedom from jws - doing what formerly was forbidden - learning about the org in all its good and bad from outside sources. (and scooby, you are like so many dubs who don't follow the 'rules' about 'apostates' and a host of other activities which if found out, would be punished)

there is a tremendous amount of information on this site about my former religion that I want to read about and on other beliefs I want to weigh. It was a reference to COC on this site that led me to borrow it from the library and LEARN about the real wts - i've since bought my own and several other books about the wts

most importantly, it is the wonderful support group of all you great people in all your diversity that will keep me here for a long time (if I don't get booted first heh heh)

ah well I guess it was too good to last (been free 7 weeks), and I guess I should be thankful - sigh

really though, do yah really think this is gonna happen? I've been burned so bad I don't trust information that presents something that is so one-sided with conclusions of such doom and with the strong conspiracy theory angle to boot. I believe in human nature more than such a presentation I suppose. Nope, gonna live life to the fullest still.

i'm sorry i just had to post this.

i'm sitting reading all the post on the tv shows and movies we weren't allowed to watch.

i am now completely hysterical laughing out loud at how insane this all was.

The jury is out for me on what or who the demons are if they are anything like described or even exist. There can be several other reasons to explain various occurrences (such as extreme mental stress) but I don't know what to believe. There are several mental illnesses that result in hallucinations as well.

I just know I haven't had any demon problems but I have heard many different stories that usually have some similar theme - such as trying to burn something and it won't burn blah blah blah. I remember a yearbook experience where some missionaries (I believe) were down in S America somewhere and they're new home had some sort of problems and after really searching the place carefully, there was supposedly something odd nailed to a wall (a medalion or something) - ah well.

Another story I recently heard right from the horses mouth was that supposedly some stuff left behind by a relative at a friends house was causing unknown problems so the person got rid of the stuff and put opened bibles all over the house - JEECE!

I believe jws are some of the most superstitious people and religion on earth and THANK GOD I'm not part of that mentally exhausting way of living - yet it still rears its ugly head from time to time - damn!

Just had surgery...

yesterday i joined the "surgery club"...can't say i wish to keep being a member.

it was a same day surgery, but should have stayed at lest overnight.

didn't sleep much last night, as the pain meds made me itch terribly.
