Removed from the account, $$$!Refusing "Simony".

it's been two years since we have attended any meetings including the memorial.now we found out that we have been taken off the bank account of a witness that we were taking care of, because of not attending meetings and not going out in the field service,because we are now inactive.. a lot of money was involved.we were not going to compromise to keep us on the account.in order to remain in good standing with this person we would be required to attend all the meetings, go out in the field service and take this person to places such as the health centers and doctors.because we stopped doing this, we are no longer going to be the beneficiaries of any financial gain,and or property $$$.including burial plots.. so much for all the years of help we have already devoted to this person.and all the hard work and self sacrifice we have given.this person knows the meaning of "simony" ( the buying or selling of spiritual things for gain ) and yet is using simony against us.we will not allow ourselves to be held captive in the society, which we have broken away from, for no amount of money or property by the use of simony that this person is trying to impose upon us.. blueblades.

Introduction

i am new to this discussion forum and i wanted to introduce myself.

my story is rather ordinary when compared to other members of this board.. first of, i am still a baptized (irregular) jw.

as many jws, i started having doubts when viewing the dateline show regarding child molestation withing the jws.

Indoubt - first of all a big hearty WELCOME!

JWD can be many things - solemn, interesting, informative, happy, supportive - all this and more and here you are!

Your post typifies a common experience (the pre-marriage conduct) with jws including myself.

What you should do, well, you're getting alot of advice but only YOU know who YOU are and how you'd feel looking at yourself in the morning.

Here is what I did. Fiancee and I had a loooonnng courtship. Eventually got pretty hot at times and alone with her. Conduct occured that mostly involved clothes on, sometimes not. But no relations. My conscience bothered the hell out of me (we were both reg pio's too, not that that means anything - just normal people heh heh) so I went to our po. He was a very kind and gental man who searched out the matter but not in extreme detail and offered private advice and checked up once or twice later. NO sanctions of any sort, but we sure worked much harder to stay 'clean' until we were married. We continued pioneering etc. He also gave our wedding talk at the KH.

Its obvious that there is great variety in how the elders handle these matters - the consistency is so faith strengthening!

Did The "Ressurection Hope" Keep You Involved As A Witness?

i know a number of persons that remained as jws because they desperately wanted to see their loved ones come back from the grave and be there to welcome them.

they were afraid that if they died at armageddon or were not totally faithful that there would be a great possibility of never seeing them again........was that "ressurection hope" a big draw for you remaining a witness?

it was part of a mosiac of fear I was serving and that kept me deep in the org,

I know of some who do allow this to greatly influence their witness involvement and any shallow glance at the scripts IMO would show this to be a weak support for one's faith.

galaxy, a sad but true story for many I believe.

Min, I guess an even betterer question for me now would be - Would those in the new system WANT me to be coming back LOL

My experience is that for people supposedly having the 'truth' about death and the resurrection, there sure are a lot who not only don't 'grieve as others do' but are really messed up because they never accept death for the only observable conclusion I've seen, namely, the opposite of life and hopefully one finds a way NOW to deal with it. If a resurrection occurs later - GREAT, but lets cope NOW.

I HAVE A POOL!!!!

growing up as a jdub had a lot of annoying things involed with it..one of my favs was..haveing a pool!!!

this is what went through every familys mind in my hall...well well ..the so and so family have a pool and its hot out and we having nothing to do ...soooo lets go swimin!....um mommy the smiths r in our back yard again ..and now they r swimming ...oh dont worry , go get them a towl from the pool house..this is how it started , then it got worse and worse...we are thirsty wah..we want to play with the video games ..what are we a community centre all of a sudden...oh oh now they r getting really nervey..we are hungry!!!

well i guess u might as well stay for supper ...do u have enough?

I HAVE A OOL - NOTICE THERE'S NO 'P' IN IT! LOL Saw that sign at a jw fam we were friends with.

I plan on getting a OOL someday for the kids and since no jws will come to it, we'll see if nonjws are just as bad in taking advantage, or, maybe we'll just keep it all to ourselves muhahahaha....

DO YOU BELIEVE ARMAGEDDON WILL EVER COME?

sometimes i look at the world and i think "man, how much longer can it go on?

" sometimes i think perhaps armageddon will come in my life-time.

the one scripture i always think of is the one in revelation where it says that jehovah "will bring to ruin, those ruining the earth.

nope, at least not as jws or other 'end-timers' preach. They've been doing that crap virtually from the moment the 'prophecies' have been uttered right up until now.

the initial assumption of 'beliefs' indicates that one tends to believe what one wants to believe not what is 'fact'. 'Facts' imo are simply manipulations of observation and can easily be different to different observers. i.e. one observes the sun 'coming up' in the morning out of the 'east', yet the facts (as reasonably deduced at this point in science) are that the earth is turning on its axis exposing different parts of its surface to sunlight over a 24 hr period and 'east' is a label made by men.

And yes, the above statement fully applies to me - For example, I see evidence that supports both evolution and creation,not any 'proof'. Proof of course, is also in the eye of the observer for cripes sakes.

My assumption for many years is that this universe is a really neat place, but cold as well and would just as soon kill you as save you. You die, and there isn't a shred of proof that you've gone somewhere betterer imo. I don't believe in a personal God as I see not a shred of proof that such a thing exists. Emotional appeal and experiences are swell i'm sure but tell that to people who have been tortured, abused, and killed, that there is a loving God. There may be a creator, and I believe this because my assumption is that this would be nice and also possibly explain complex structures in nature. But the terms 'may' and 'believe' that I use simply don't mean jack - reality may be very different.

Another assumption I have is that life is better, first for me, then my own, then others around me if certain civil behaviours are practiced. Survival then isn't the only focus to life and there is much 'beauty' in life as well.

I prefer to believe in the beauty to be found in people, and 'believe' there are many many out there who seek to do good and act on it (MOST of these are not jws cuz there's not just 6 million, but 6 billion to draw from).

Thus, I prefer to look ahead to a future that is improving in many ways and 'believe' in the inherent goodness and unselfishness people are capable of displaying and don't wish an unlikely God-directed Armageddon on anyone. To put people so casually in classes of 'wicked' and 'righteous' is bald faced arrogance with a lack of natural affection imo hiding behind so-called supporting scriptures. sheesh.

Thank God, this cold-hearted negative world-view of the end and the people in it is something I cast off from the jws.

i think most people take the opportunity of visiting family, but, of course, for some of us that's not possible thanks to the borg, so what've you been doing?.

the fam and I went for a long walk today - doing this out in the beautiful weather makes me think about the joy it is to be living. Since leaving the org, I might add, I love life and freedom all the more which means I even love my family all the more!

Poll: I've done both sitting and standing. Of the latest yrs of my life, my tendency would be to stand respectfully and try not to sing LOL, those damn anthems are catchy!

So, when I was a sitter, 1, 2, and 13 Other - I couldn't help but think this sure was bloody disrespectful and for no gd good reason - sheesh

btw, the wife, kids and I have been learning our good ol' anthem just in case we want to sing it - Oh Canada. And not the other anthem which ends in 'I AM CANADIAN' LOL. Hey we KNOW the americans are jealous of our canadian backdoor patriotism...
