my sister, who is still in, has just recently graduated from college (four year university) with a good degree and has landed a great job.

its likely that she will never meet a jw man who is completely compatible with her, as she is educated, smart, and makes more money than about half her cong.

did you for a time think it was still the only true religion and that you were just condemned as long as you were out.

i read a comment by ghosthunter today that kind of echoed my feelings.

i know if i had never read the things i had read here, i'd still have left, for i did that before reading and learning, but i would have been out without the freedom from guilt and damnation.....

I was pretty young when I left so I just assumed they were "the truth" until I quit believing in God. I never really read the bible. Finally I did read the bible and realized pretty quick that the JW doctrines were complete nonsense and only formed because a couple of people that had virtually no bible knowledge found a couple of scriptures that they didnt understand correctly and then formed some sort of conspiracy theory culminating once again in the "restored Gospel."

Shingarkin said Russian suitcase nukes consisted of a bag measuring about 24 by 16 by 8 inches fitted with three coffee can-size aluminum canisters filled with plutonium or uranium.

I was addressing this, I know what a dirty bomb is. But thanks for the info anyway

Correct me if I am wrong but all nuclear weapons require plutonium, it is the detonator.

Why is the religious right in bed with Israel?

it always seems strange to me that the religious right in america and elsewhere is so 'in bed' with israel.. if you look at the history and beliefs, surely christianity has more in common with muslims who believe in christ (as a prophet) then in judaism which was the very religion that christ was rejecting and was killed by!.

surely for christians, the jews were "the bad guys" having rejected the messiah and forfeiting their position as gods chosen people?.

so why the support?

Surely I think I made that distinction:

they are forced to live in a police state because their neighboors are in love with the hateful propaganda that is issued to them. Look at the polls that show most people in Saudi Arabia believe the Jews drink the blood of Christians and Muslims at Passover.

Keep in mind the main premise of this discussion is our (Western/American) allaiance with Israel.
