I have been told by several Arab-Christian sources, that Muslims hate Christians, look upon them and their nations as eniemies, and wish that all Christians be killed. I have been told stories of unbelievable acts of horror committed against non-Muslims, in their own countries, against people who are not Muslim. So from what I am told, by people who live in those Arab lands, I would think they know best because they have suffered through it.

I think that everyone here has a point. It is a hard call to make...we have no real concrete proof that it was the Arabs or Bin Laden, but he has said years ago that he would bomb the World Trade center. I understand the logic behind the US gov having him at the top of the list. But who is to say that there wasn't inside help? It could be that we have ourselves another Timothy McVeigh, who was working along with Bin Laden, if it was him. I feel very sorry for the Arabic and Middle Eastern people who will have to suffer the racial backlash from this event. Countless millions of foriegners who are US citizens, will now be getting fingers pointed and nasty remarks, just because they are walking down the street.
However, I do feel that once the gov finds out who did this, they should fry! Live by the bomb, die by the bomb...but I don't think that innocent civilians should be compromised, even though that was the case here.
I think that our main problem is Bush. He is a complete moron, and everyone is sitting around waiting for him to make decisions. I have a feeling he will make the wrong ones...just like his dad did when he let Hussein go free.

To the fire fighters...............

i will pray for their families.. to all the fire fighter in the us and the world over.

I am not a firefighter, but I am a member of Emergency Medical and Rescue Services. Most of my collegues are firefighters, and they have been called to the scene to give aid to the rescue efforts. I was supposed to go, but I didn't find out about all of this until 2pm. Time is not of abundance, so they left, but I am currently on stand-by with NJ Emergency Management...i feel so helpless sitting here watching instead of helping. All those people still trapped, calling for help on their cell phones....it will take weeks to search through all the rubble. This is not a jet crash, or a neighborhood ravaged by a tornado...hell the Murrah building bombing doesn't even compare. I don't know if any of you have been to NYC, but these buildings were massive...two of the largest and tallest building in the entire world! When you look at them, it almost takes your breath away, and when you go to the top, you can see for miles and miles. 110 stories...all collaped upon itself. It will be really strange to go to NYC, and not see the towers. Anyway, I will pass on your thanks to my firefighter collegues, memebers of Slackwood Fire Company, Station 21-Ladder 21 and the members of Lawrenceville First Aid and Rescue Squad 29, Apparatus 129-1.

Watchtower Article Titles We'll Never See
by COMF ini saw redhorsewoman's thread title, "the time is at hand", and knew why she picked it: because the society uses that phrase all the time (or used to when i was in, anyway... i'm betting they still do).
it reminded me of a district assembly part from along about 1983 called "now is the time" (can any of you brighter types guess which song they chose to accompany it?).
this got me to thinking of how the society has these pet phrases they use over and over again, often featuring them in some thinly reworked format (like going from "now is the time" to "the time is at hand") as article titles.
