Vgood accept with Mcdonald's you have a choice and the drinks come with a warning that you they are hot so you know you could end up badly burned.
Not so with the WTBTS.Every nag mag that they publish should carry a government health warning, "Reading this will severely damage your thinking abilities and could turn you into a Borg zombie"
Unless anyone can think of a better one.

JWs and odd health practices
by Seeker ini noted a long thread earlier that dealt with the frequency with which jws will accept medical practices that are far out of the mainstream.
kinesiology, and herbs, and the like were all mentioned, and there was much discussion about whether these things should be taken seriously or not.
i do not want to get into such a discussion, but wanted to talk about why i think jws are so frequently involved in such health pursuits.. someone mentioned that jws are trained to be suspicious of the medical establishment, and that's right.

I think an awful lot of JW's go for alt therapies because there isnt actually anything physical wrong with them.
In the UK if your GP finds nothing wrong other than a second opinion you come to a full stop.
So if you then pursue this with alt therapists and practitioners you can go round and round till you find the one that suits you and then of course you can be given a label for your malady and maybe even pills, potions and a special diet to follow. Now you have at last achieved a real reason to miss meetings and drop some field service, you even have something to talk to others about when you occasionally appear back at the KH.
Of course all of this is just a cover up for a more deeply rooted problem, that of a sub conscience that is shouting that the org is corrupt and that you are wasting your life away.
I am sorry if this offends anyone but I have seen too many brothers and sisters (but mainly sisters) caught up in this trap.

Is the WTBTS racist?
by esther inin australia there are separate congregations for aboriginal witnesses.
the official line is that the nonwitness aboriginals are more responsive to other aboriginals.
that may be so, but that doesn't mean that they should be kept separate for meetings.

The only racism I ever came across was in the head of a Sri Lankan sister who was convinced that if somebody (anybody in a cong of 100 plus) didnt talk to her at a meeting then that person was racist. Yuo try speaking to everyone at every meeting when there are that number and you are an elder trying to please everyone.
She was often accusing people at the KH and her place of work of this supposed racism.
I do remember a talk about some missionaries going to Africa and the brother brought out that they had to overcome any personal prejudices that thay might of had and embrace the African brothers and sisters, which did surprise me as I had not been brought up in the org and had never been taught to think any differantly of other races or nationalities. -

Good one
I liked the janitor/window washer shoulders. I assume the small head and pelvis denotes little useful activity from these areas. -

troubled [in need of answers]
by zev intoday, i had a long, long talk with my employer.
this person is some one who can seperate work and personal things, so after feeling like i needed to talk to someone, and soon, before i crack up, i went to her and dropped the bomb.
she is not a witness, and because i cannot talk to a witness about what i have learned, for fear of the df'ing thingy, i feel safe in talking to her.

Hi Zev
Like Latte my husband and myself came out together, but my daughter is still married to a JW.
She is really working at their own relationship together outside of the org.
Maybe your wife feels that you wont love her anymore. If you can, try to boost her self worth and pride in your marriage. You dont say if you have children, but if you do dont forget that the org teaches that outside of it most children end up on drugs etc and this could also affect how your wife thinks at the moment.
I really feel for you and I hope that something in this thread is of help to both of you.
Feel free to mail me if you want. -

Just a female thing?
by anglise insince drifting from the org over the last year or so i have been slowly updating my clothes.
i thought maybe it was just me who had been dressing like a middle aged matron since i was 23 but whilst talking to a young xsister recently i learnt that she too has thrown out most of the clothes she used to wear whilst a dub.. has anyone else found themselves doing this, and is it just a female thing?

Common Psychological Problems of Mind Manipulatio
by Jang incommon psychological problems of mind manipulation:.
the following problems and emotions are common with survivors.
these are all normal emotions and will pass as you recover.. keeping a journal and sorting one's overwhelming feelings is most healing and helps work through feelings of betrayal and abuse.

Great and very informative post JanG.
So many of those symptoms listed I have ignored and put down to me being silly.
I shall forward this post to others.
Thanks
