At our hall a few sisters resented the fact that they were acting as MSes for weekday and they had to stop the meeting when any brothers came in. Because nobody except sisters went out on weekdays except during co vist or if you were gunning to be promoted to MS.

i can't remember who said it, but one poster said a co commented that "there are more elders than ministerial servants.".
is this true?

I here even bethel is feeling the crunch. Now they are encouraging tourist to do 2 week vacation stays.
You exes may not believe me but this is becoming a social club for house wives, a dating service for teenagers, and an insurance plan for senior citizens. The adult male population of JWs is nominal at best. As you know to be indoctrinated you have to particpate. It is the difference between active duty and reserves.
JWs will fall apart unless it allows for female elders and MSes. THe men just dont have time for it unles they are on some type of governtment assitances. Most of the regular elders I know are retired, disabled, or independantly wealthy/ financially secure. Everyone else is working overtime or taking classes to keep food on the table. They always defer the task in the hall to the ill, well off, or retired brothers. The ill brothers can barely work so that leaves people that dont need jws or are afraid they are going to die to carry the burden.
This is causing corruption by necessity in some places. Being extra lax just to keep the hall running.

Yes nobody is reaching out. If you are over 25 are regular and aux pioneer a few times a year they are now hunting you down and giving you a battle feild promotion. It had gotten so bad the wts said the borthers have to do background checks at your previous halls and get co's approval before you are recomended for elder to the wts. Because the WTs is so holed up in brooklyn they have no way of checking.
If you actually behave like the wts claim jws should and devout as much time as the wts suggest you can make ms in 6 to 18 months. The only thing that hold you back is reputation and looks like reputation is erased by how much work you do.

by lurk inbeen thinking about what blondie said about the use of jehovah in 1 thessalonians:4 and how they try to pass the word lord of as both jesus and jehovah ........so i looked some stuff up.... i cant think why i was so convinced that the disciples used gods name.
im willing to be convinced though.
example of jehovah being added and lord meaning both jesus and jehovah

I have a question. Did acient people ever do crazy things with words like we do today?
I mean maybe words change so fast and mutate so much because of advertising and media. Everyday products come half way around the world often at cheaper prices than domestics. So maybe you have to be more conservative when interpeting acient words. I mean look at the word "gay" now it is a household word for homosexual something not too popular 50 years ago back then you were a "sissy". Being sissy today has almost lost its homosexual conotation. Look at the word semaphore. It has almost gone out of everyday use but 50 years ago they still used them for traffic signals and flag signaling was popular.

Question... Do JWs shun Family?
by Sassy ini had a disagreement with xq in chat today, because he was trying to say that jws for the most part disobey the wts and still treat family like family even if they are dfd or quit being witnesses.. i don't feel that is true.
i think that the majority of us on here who no longer are jws have family members who no longer have anything to do with us and shun us.... so i said it would be interesting to take a poll and see how many here are treated just like all the rest of your 'loving family' who is a jw still.......are you treated the same?.
does family shun you for being df'd, da'd or no longer participating?or do they hide and talk to you but only when other active jws can't see?

Does the WTBTS still win?

imo, the wtbts has two primary goals.. first to make money, orginally from the sales placement of their publications, but i think we can now add real estate ownership as a secondary money maker.. second, partly to help sale their publications, they profess doctrines that are contary to the teachings of main stream christian beliefs.. so my question is, "if someone leaves the organization and rejects the word of bible, has the wtbts still won?

No because they lost a customer.
JWs dont care about accuracy of doctrine. They could become hindu and buddist alteratives next year if they thought it would sell well in those stagnate markets.They may have to with the decline of jws in developed lands. It is all about the concept of a selected organization not a true religion.
