Kristi died about 30 mins. ago
by Frannie Banannie infor those of yall that didn't know, kristi was a 37-yr-old ms patient that i took care of for the last year of her life.
she had a wonderful ribald sense of humor and talked like a sailor at times.
but it was all to cover up the ultra-sweet and tender heart she had.

**MUST READ** AlanF's email to Knocking.org
by sf inthis is a must-read that, hopefully, will stay an "active topic" for all seekers and lurkers, by bumping it to the top as often as possible.
alan wrote it in randys {dogpatch} thread regarding knocking.org documentary and in reply to the email mr. engardio sent to barbara anderson.
however, it is so vital a read that it indeed needs its own thread:.

That is a great post,, so informative,,,,, its good to keep reading about all the foolish lies and stories the society has fed to its members over the years,,,,, and how they change to conform to unrealized prophecies and keep their members waiting for something that will never come..... Its easy to see why they discourage any reading of old material,,,, its makes them look so pathetic ... Thanks AlanF....enjoyed reading it so much......

See the JW, not the person
by robhic ini've written before about my poor jw gilfriend and her health problems (i am not a jw).
she was in the hospital for an infection the last 3 days and, like usual, a few jws visited her.
(the hospital is conveniently located 5 blocks from their kh...) in speaking with her at times she would mention that "some ladies from my church came to visit" followed immediately by stating her lack of familiarity or even recognition of one or more of the ladies visiting.. she has had jws visit her in hospital and at home many times before.

yes.. its true that it is more about being a fellow JW than caring about the person for the person. When I was still attending meetings, an older sister who every loved and was a very kind person, (in spite of her being in a cult), was dying of cancer and was hospitalized. The sisters took turns sleeping on a cot in her room at nite so she wouldn't be alone when she died. A nurse commented that she had more visitors than most patients,,, to which the visiting sister said,,,,,"we are Jehovah's Witnesses". .....even at the time,, it sounded more like propagaganda than actually caring. to me........I know of ones who didn't attend regularly and no one visited them at all....................

It seems like more and more are finding out the "truth" about the "truth" thanks to the information found on the internet. Nice to see so many freed from a life of lies, brainwashing and just not being able to enjoy life the way it was meant to be enjoyed. Welcome to all the new posters......

Sport and JWs!!!
by zagor injust wondering what your experiences are.
were you "encouraged" not to devote time to personal exercise, gym or sport in general?
i remember this one time co gave a talk how "we do not need sport" then he proceeded to explain how walking up the stairs in field service was exercise enough for our legs, then how we didn't need any stretching exercise as making gestures while explaining the bible verses would do the job, and so on.

It was discouraged in our area to let your children play on organized "worldy" sports teams, although one elder who ran his own business and drove a cadillac ,,,had lots of money and donated lots of money to the hall,,,, had his son and daughter in organized sports....No one said a word to him about that........ Some brothers used to rent a ice rink to play hockey together late Sunday nite. ...It seemed as long as you were playing with other brothers,,,it was acceptable in our area......

a great crowd and rev 21
by IP_SEC ini?ve been researching the references to a great crowd at revelation 7 and 19. it seems to me that there is little doubt that the vision places them in heaven.
naos, enopion, and the reference to heaven in chapter 19 seem pretty conclusive as to their heavenly position to me.
my problem is that, when i read revelation 21:1-4 it seems to me that this is speaking about the same group as the 'a great crowd' at chapter 7 and 19. at 7:15 it says god will spread his tent over this group.

upside/down... I totally agree with you....no wonder ppl on earth can't get along... they have the same power and ego struggles in heaven as they do on earth..... and they don't even have financial worries!!!!!

Our last district assembly was the summer of 1986. We had 2 boys under the age of 5 and one on the way. I remember it was melting hot. We both sat and listened to the same droning on and on about the same meaningless dribble they fed us with every time......As we tried to keep our boys from climbing the seats and under the seats... we looked at each other and said .."Lets get out of here".. We packed up and I could hear the drone of the speaker ,,,but not hearing one word..... We felt so free and like we had just woken up from a bad dream.... That was the last meeting we ever attended....... and....NO Regrets!!!!!!!

I enjoyed reading your story. You went thru a lot that if you weren't involved with the Dubs you probably would have had a very different life. One you chose for yourself... ...Not dictated by others. Im happy you found happiness........................ My mother also was a schizophenic with massive deppression. Its very hard to grow up in a family with this type of mental illness.... especially so 20 years ago as they didn't have the understanding of today.... The children of a mentally ill person were not counselled or had any kind of therapy,, so you just muddled along best you could with no one to talk to..... So I understand how it could affect your wife,,, unfortunately,,, you tend to close yourself off from others...it seems easier to deal with that way...maybe that it a part of how your wife grew up and her difficulties in your relationship... and the dubs don't help......they were always telling my mom not to take meds...it could let the demons in her mind... she was also the sweetest and most faithful sister you could meet...she never harmed anyone but took her own life 20 years ago.............At least now you are free to make a new life on your terms...... Thanks for sharing your story......

Well, I did see an interview with Katie where she said she had always dreamed of marrying Tom Cruise since she was young.And...well... she is still young and I think niave. She might be confusing a childhood crush with love and as for Tom ,,, maybe he is just trying to stay young forever...Who knows?? anyway,, its their life and if they can be happy thats great....if they break up after 2 years..... well... its just another Hollywood marriage...its happens all the time.....
