Thanks for sharing your story. You've lived a life full of sad times yet you are stronger than you give yourself credit for . You managed to look after yourself , get a great education and learn what life outside the org is all about.. I too can identify with a lot of your feelings , I was raised as a JW and my family was dysfunctional also..You have a great writing style and I look forward to reading more posts from you.

Recovering from Meeting Withdrawl
by Nosferatu inafter i quit going to meetings, tuesdays, thursdays, and sundays felt really strange.
it was so weird having all this time to myself that i never had before.
it took about 1-2 years for me to fully adjust to this new found free time.. anyone else experience this?

At the time we left, we had 3 small kids.. ages 5, 3 and 4 months.. so I was so busy I didn't have time to think much about missing meetings. I do remember though a feeling of total peace and bliss that I didn't have to plan nap time and meals around meeting time.

various approaches covered include compositional analysis, content analysis, psychoanalysis, semiology and discourse analysis.
it struck me how ripe watchtower imagery would be to such scrutiny, and how subtle trends in ideological emphases may be identified through the visual iconography that may be less apparent in the overt expositions of watcthower written texts.

It does seem that the picture is presenting the society's opinion that women are beneath men and they are only useful for household duties. In the pic..the women are all busy with chores.. gardening sweeping.. while the men are involved in leisure activities.. reading... riding a bike...and what does that mean with the women clutching the post??? She can't leave until the sweeping is finished??? Looks like the twilight zone to me.

Satanists, do you fear them or trash them?

I don't fear Satanists as the only harmful thing in this world are other humans. I haven't seen any evidence yet of demons or other spirits harming others. For that matter I haven't heard of Satanists doing harm to others.. As for their beliefs,, its a free world.. if it makes you happy and you aren't hurting anyone else..its your business who or what you worship.. Its not going to make any difference in my life..

We actually live just east of Toronto and for some reason even though we live right by Lake Ontario, we don't get the severe winter storms like Toronto. Maybe that is why the geese feel it is a safe haven..So they are actually annoying to us.. they never leave and they make a mess with all their goose droppings..

Hi Lady Lee... If you wonder where the Canada geese go in the winter.. they hang around the lake here all winter in Ontario near Toronto..I don't know how they survive.. our winters have been milder each year here though..guess they find food somehow...

Speaking to an Elder tomarrow, I'm almost free!!!!!!!

i'm meeting with the elder tomarrow afternoon.
i'm going to stick heavy to the watchtowers interpretation of matthew 24 and how it is unbalanced, sensationalized and out of touch with any historical evidence or respect for the bible.

Im so happy for you that your wife is in agreement with you.. My husband and I both saw the truth about the 'truth" at the same time and left together. It makes it so much easier to leave and carry on making a new life free from the borg.

JWs Called at my House This Morning
by Seeker4 inhere it was memorial day morning, and i'm out in the front yard watering the gardens when i hear a car pulling up the driveway.
it pulls into our section of the drive and i see it's a witness couple i know in the front seat.
the wife is driving and they spot me right off.

When I think how disrespectful it is to begin with to go invade someone's privacy in their home to try and tell them how wrong they are, and then to;add that kind of arrogant response, well I despise the work even more.
Well said!!!!!!..I feel embarrassed to think I used to go bothering people in their homes..I especially remember Dubs loving going out in field service Christmas morning.. laughing that we were going to spoil their Christmas..now I just laugh at the Dubs wasting their lives away in a cult..
