Is there one thing that keeps you from going back?
by nsrn ini had email contact this week for the first time with an old boyfriend--haven't seen him in 28 years!
i'm trying to compose an answer...there are a hundred reasons why i will never go back, but how to sum it up?
i'm thinking along the lines of "i just don't believe that the society/gb is god's representative on earth" and see if he presses further.. suggestions, anyone?.

I know how good life is when I can be independent thinking and pursue a life that is best for me and not be controlled by a bunch of old men claiming to have the direction of god., I have no desire to go back to a life run by a cult..

JWs and Small Business Outsourcing
by Stephanus in.
i was struck by a thought last night: if you had a small business and needed window or other cleaning service, instead of looking up the appropriate section of the yellow pages, you could just call the local kingdom hall and ask for recommendations for someone to do the job.. what other services could you ask about, while you're still on the phone?

Cleaning products from Amway
there was a Witness couple who started selling that and they tricked other witless couples into coming over to their house for a presentation by inviting them over for an evening supposedly of " good fellowship".. Dub couples started getting really upset by this.. so they eventually stopped.. or maybe some elder made them stop..

Did you know of any JW's brothers that were "wife beaters"? Were they DF'd?
by booker-t inyears ago when i was attending my old kh there was an elder that was very stern.
bro glen(not his real name) used to be very firm in telling students about their talks not being good, or where they needed to improve.
i know i was "terrified" of bro glen.

There was a MS in our congregation who was an alcoholic ,,,he was not physically abusive with his wife but verbally abusive but he used to beat on his teenage son, the son was friends with my husband (who was a teen himself at the time) and he would tell him how his father would get drunk and slam him into walls . Finally, his wife decided to go to the elders about it.. he was removed from his postion for a while.. but otherwise no other punishment. His wife never did leave him.

Hey, watch the language!
by cyberguy inive used many expletives in my life, especially when ive hit my finger with a hammer!
however, ive seen some words and expressions used recently on this board that should be edited-out in my humble opinion!
okay, if you absolutely need to use a curse word, just put the first letter then some ***.

My Irish father who was never a JW.but. married to a staunch JW woman always said swear words had their place. He said only use them in times when only a swear word will really express your feelings.. otherwise.. a milder version would do.. Guess that is why I always heard him swearing and cursing when he was working on his car.. working in his workshop.. etc..

Hi rune.. welcome back.. I am from the Toronto area but I have visited Ottawa a few times.. I was raised as a JW but didn't manage to escape until I was 30.I didn't want to raise my kids as JWS and have them suffer a cult life like I had to.

"loyal love, god is love, may god's love move us to love".
"...like bees that were molested, but we can ever beat them off...".

Yep.. all the Kingdom melodies are pretty ridiculous,, and depressing too.. the music was never uplifting.. just another bogus method of trying to brainwash the Dubs

Overheard at the Book Study
by under_believer inhere are a few comments that i overheard at this week's book study (of the third chapter of the bible teach book), and the thoughts i had after hearing them: .
conductor: "as food shortages become more and more common as the time of the end advances, they will make excellent field service points since they were predicted by the bible.
me: great.

Are you internet dependent?
by greendawn inare you dependent on the internet?
how bad would you be or feel if you suddenly lost your internet connection?
i use it for work, to talk with people through skype, download music and films, e-mail, forums, and instant messengers, and finding info of all sorts.

I pay all my bills via the internet and also do my taxes and send them in via the internet.. I talk on MSN to my daughter and son who are living away from home right now . So I would say I am very internet dependent.
