if you could sum up your time in the borg with just one word, what would it be and why?.
for me it would be guilt.
guilt about not doing enough ministry, not enough study, doing too much secular work, the list seems endless.on the odd occasions i felt i'd done quite well you can bet we'd have a talk saying more, more more!.
I was going to say "study" because that seems to be all we did. But "treadmill" and "repression" seem to fit the bill too.

i came across this web site that discusses c. jung's book "answer to job".

Hi Frankiespeaking,
Good to see you back. We've missed your posts. I'm glad all seems to be well with you.

my brother is a self proclaimed apostate.
i see now that there is a wide variety of posters here.
so to those that have left the witnesses what would it take to get you back?
There is nothing that could get me back. I became a JW because I thought they had the "truth". After ten years of intensive research (only in approved "Society" publications of course) I realized that they weren't what they said they were. So, I left. There was no internet at that time and I didn't read any apostate literature. I also was a good JW and wouldn't talk to apostates.
It's you following the WTS that is creating the breach in your family. The WTS's policy of shunning is unchristian and unbiblical.

i've just found this site this evening.
i've been off work with a bad cold since tuesday and there was a knock on the door this afternoon.
i don't usually answer the door to strangers but on this occasion i did as i could see 2 elderly gentlemen.
Hi Rebekah. Welcome to the board. Hope you stick around, you sound like you'll fit in here just fine.

i just found this forum and joined today -- i am so happy that you're all out there sharing your stories and experiences.
growing up jw or just being jw is such a unique experience and can only be shared with people who have been there.
a little about me... i grew up jw -- mom pioneered and dad was an elder.
Hi Limbogirl,
Yes, it's great to have people to communicate with that know the lingo. We "faded" about 14 years ago. I never talk about religion with any of my friends now. It makes me uncomfortable. Here on this board I don't have to go into great explanations of what I'm trying to say.
Anyway, I'm glad you have your freedom! Welcome to the board!!

i was reinstated probably 4-5 years ago, and i think i've been to the kingdom hall once since then.

this is my first time posting, although i've read for a while.
i've been a (bad example of) a witness now for about 15 years.
in all those 15 years, i did not at any time have a good friend within the congo.
Hi On the Fence. Welcome!! Like the others said, start reading some of the posts here. You'll soon get over feeling guilty.

philippians 4: 8-9 (new world translation) 8 finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well spoken of, whatever virtue there is and whatever praiseworthy thing there is, continue considering these things.
9 the things that you learned as well as accepted and heard and saw in connection with me, practice these; and the god of peace will be with you.
watchtower/1980/dec/15/p.-29/ does sacred service include everyday activities of life, such as caring for our families, maintaining good morals and the like?
Not only are the Kingdom Halls supposedly "sacred", they're also supposedly "dedicated to the exclusive use of the most high god." Or something like that. We weren't even allowed to put up a Thank You card on the bulletin board because it was "holy". I've always wondered myself how they justify selling them off. Do they conduct an "undedication ceremony"?
In this are they sold two Halls. One was bought by another religion and the other is a private home.
