If things turn ugly for the Western world, will you run back to "Mother"?
by True North inwho knows what will come in the years ahead from terrorism, global warming, conflict over natural resources, proliferation of wmd, et al.?
it's not hard to imagine truly horrific things happening.
i don't think it's likely, but perhaps one day the major powers might even respond to religion-related terrorism by joining together to restrain or control religion under the banner of the u.n.. such events certainly could trigger a response from the fears/phobias that ex-jws may carry around with them due to years of wt indoctrination -- however much repressed these are at most times.

We were required to turn in a time slip each month for our son's (non-bptzd pubs) who were no longer even coming to meetings. At OUR very last meeting attended, there was one of those talks where they hand out a time slip to everybody in the audience and give the pitch about the need to turn them in on time. We sat there and wrote on each slip, one son's name, and a sentence stating they are no longer attending and are not going in service either. We turned them in to the study conductor at the end of the meeting - and he went crazy on us - for not filling in an actual big digit "zero" in the time column! I mean, he was losing it right there at the back of the hall - angry - as my husband stated that our written explanation should suffice. This incident was just the icing on the cake - that point we needed to reach - before deciding to never return.

Daughter Moving On From JW BF . . .
by Corvin inmy daughter has been accepting of my intervening in her relationship with an unbaptized jw.
although still sad at times, she is determined to finish high school (this is her senior year) and go on to college.
(carl, her x-boyfriend, is a hs drop out and aspires to get a job at guitar center and eventually get certified for smog inspecting automobiles.

Corvin - I hope your daughter will continue to make those special memories of a young lady's life! Too many of us missed out on those milestones and it's wonderful that you are able to share with her the excitement of those special times. She's strikingly beautiful too!
Best regards,

flyin' - hey - the more the merrier I say! Oh well(hubby)
lol, the pink sponges!
I had moved to a new school as a high school freshman - on my first day there, I'm sitting in home room class at the start of the day feeling all self conscious and not knowing anybody, when the kid behind me taps me on the shoulder and tells me that I had a pink sponge roller in the back of my hair!! I just wanted to die and cried with embarrassment..

Do you think people are amazed you left?
by Sassy inwhether you have been disfellowshipped, or disasociated yourself or just slowly are fading or inactive... .
or even are still there at the hall attending due to family.. .
do you think that when you were at your 'strongest as a believer' that anyone would have guessed how you feel about the wts now?.

Last night at a restaurant happy hour, we ran into a couple from our last cong. The JW rumour mill had led them to believe that we were attending a different congregation these days, since they haven't seen us for two years now. They asked where we go, and we said, " We DON'T GO anymore". They were stunned speechless and made a very quick exit with a "we miss you". (They live one block away from us, but have never missed us enough to come over)
Also, last night - folks at a nearby table invited us to join them and the conversation that ensued was like an X-Jdub demonstration or something. - the one girl's brother is a professor at a university in Kansas and he studies - cults! Go figure - we had a lot to share with them and they were amazed to hear the life of a JW and the exit process too.
Best to you all

What Couldn't You Do on Meeting Nights?
by Nosferatu init's funny how new rules were made in the house that applied to meeting nights only.
one major one was no video games before the meeting.
my mother also tried to extinguish worldly music before meetings.

What couldn't you do on meeting nights?
It got to the point where I could barely walk in the door of the KH - and eventually couldn't get out of the car once we pulled in the parking lot.
SadElder ~ I too, would not have a glass of wine with dinner on mtg nights for fear someone would think I'd been drinking.

Hey all - we've been waiting for Stepford Wives to come out since we heard of the remake about two years ago - but same here, - we wish it wasn't gonna be a comedy. Were you ever one of those "Stepford JW's"? One of the last elders we had occasion to speak with, told us he is becoming "more robotic in his old age" - duh, get a clue!

Newbies, Those in Doubt . . . A rant just for you . . .
by Corvin inquote from the e-watchman's forum:
this "organization", whether or not it is in good standing in jehovah's eyes, has given us some very valuable and treasured accurate biblical knowledge.
to deny that would be unfair and perhaps throwing spiritual food back in our father's face ...

Corvin: You mean you don't agree with this comment that I just ran across last night:
Watchtower of October 1, 1967, pg. 587: "Thus the Bible is an organizational book and belongs to the Christian congregation as an organization, not to individuals, regardless of how sincerely they may believe that they can interpret the Bible. For this reason the Bible cannot be properly understood without Jehovah's visible organization in mind."
Shame on you !
