  Why not baptize at the kingdom hall?

  lots of churches baptize those willing right at the church why do you think the jws don't do the same?

  would it be too "discouraging" in congregations where there were no new ones baptized for a long time.

  maybe they are trying for a bandwagon effect?

  If they really followed the scriptures, any JW could baptize a convert at any time. Matt.28:19,20 says to makes disciples, baptizing them...... No JW baptizes any one else....It is all WTS choreographed. Jehovah is a God of order, after all. Only took 2000 years for Him to get baptism just right.

  Why 'Determined to Be Rich' Advice is Wrong

  when a witness or ex-witness seeks investment in real estate or the stock market, they often hear .

  the annoying advice about those "determined to be rich" ( 1 tim 6:9).

  for most of us, this is nonsense.. when this scripture was written, was there a stable financial system that serviced rich and poor alike?.

  I have always told people that if I have to work 40 or 50 hours a week, why not work the same 40 or 50 hours a week and make more money?

  Why work at a job for minimum wage when you can work at a job for premium wage? Why clean windows when you can own the window factory?

  The WTS wants to keep you poor and ill informed, dependent upon them for everything.

  While I respect the right of anyone to live his or her life as they please as long as they do not hurt others, I personally believe that once a man, always a man.   Thanks for the thread and the info.

  I never went online until after Pioneer Service School. It was there that such focus was put on the WTS that I found it both frightening and unbelievable.

  When my CO said to the class: Nathan Knorr was elected President of the Society at 37. Can you imagine that? Being appointed over all Christ's interests on the whole planet at only 37! Can you imagine?

  For the first time, I could not imagine it. It was steady downhill from there. (Downhill to Freedom)

  You need to write them and specifically ask what the meeting is about, who will be there, where it will be, what time it will be. Write it down, man! This puts THEM on the defensive.

  Dear Brothers:

  I appreciate the concern you are showing for the spiritual welfare of my family. Indeed, JesusChrist-- The Fine and True Sheperd--- would find commendable the love you are displaying. Prior to our meeting, which Bro. So and So has told me about, I request to know the following:

  1. The time and place of the meeting

  2. The attendants at this meeting

  3. The purpose of this meeting.

  I know you will respect my concerns in this regard since I have always known you to be kind and humble servants of the flock under your care and that you would do nothing that would make one of God's sheep stumble.

  Getting biblically educated while going door to door.

  i now recall that i've had an unusual amount of run ins with pastors, preachers, etc, when going door to door.

  when talking to others in the congregation they said they hadn't encountered the volume of these these guys as i had.

  the interesting thing is that i ran into them while working alone.

  I didn't encounter too many "pastors" in DtD, but occasionally I would have to deal with them and their church committees professionally.

  I remember at one meeting I had to have with them, these guys show up in their vehicles, enter the building, set up table and chairs, the pastor asked

  one of the men to open the meeting with a prayer. He prayed to his father, ended the prayer in Jesus name, and then we got down to business.

  I saw no images, no crosses, etc...

  I knew that their religion had been around much longer than mine. It struck me that WE had copied THEM. How were the JW's different? These were nice people,

  good people. They were very pleasant in their business dealings. I spoke with their Pastor on several occasions and found him to be kind and mild.

  No lightning bolts from Heaven struck me down. No demons followed me home.

  The JW's tear down others. I didn't get that impression from these folks.

  All the best to you. But take it from me, a former elder, a JC is formed when they (the elders) have already determined that a wrong has been committed. The

  JC only determines your "repentance", if any, and then what "discipline" to meet out. You have already been found guilty.

  I, for one, will NEVER attend this kangaroo meeting and will sue them, each and everyone, and make them sorry for ever screwing with me, if ever it comes to it. But that's just me. I am satisfied with never winning a penny in court and will gladly pay attorneys their fees to simply screw with them and take away their peace. I know for a fact the WTS DOES NOT stand behind them.

  If its three elders, it's a commitee, and no matter what this "good guy" elder is telling you, a committee disfellowships by majority and the chairman of the committee is in charge and sets the tone. I would ask him why the need to meet with three elders? Then if the answer is a JC, ask him to put the request for the meeting in writing and the reasons for the committee in writing. Agree to nothing less if anything.

  even as a kid i couldn't shake the feeling that the literature taught in negatives--- instead of advocating for a position, it seemed to be defending it and attacking.
