Gotta love it, bro! See, the Lord provides, right?
we started attending the wakefield r.i. kh after the marriage.
at the first meeting i went to, "buddy" weber came up to greet me.
he had left a very good job in seattle (he had his own radio talk show) and was now a janitor, living were the need was greatest, at the time r.i had the worst publisher to normal people ratio in the counrty 1 to 1600. i'm just standing there listening to him as he is giving me the "what he has done for jehovah story" what his "spiritual credentials" are, how wonderful his kids are, were they were pioneering, how he had givien up a good job so he could serve the lord my cleaning windows in rhode island............because the end was coming soon in 1975, just a few months away blah blah.......blah.......it reminded me, so much how the jws love to martyr themselfs and how much they say "we are all equal".......but on the other hand, they love poistions, that deep down inside they believe that some are really better then others and that they are working there way into the "new system".

watch out for the questions from readers in the may 1st 2007 watchtower.

Thanks for your thoughts. I was an elder many years and could never explain how the great crowd rendered sacred service in the temple, yet were not "really in the temple".
The Bible Students taught that the hope of a christian was to be with Christ. How can the hope of a christian be otherwise? Rutherford changed this by introducing the
"class" struture of Jonadabs, etc.... who didn't want to be with Christ but didn't want to die, either. He CHANGED the Biblical teaching to CONFORM to the needs of those
who were simultaneously buying and peddling the literature he was printing and which made his lifestyle possible. It was his doing, his brilliant flash of light, and later by
cutting away not only the "heavenly hope" but changing the name of the religion to Jehovah's Witnessess, he offically disconnected the corporation he had seized from Russell's
real heirs, thus pushing out the remaining vestiges of Russellism.
Religion is a snare and racket---- and Rutherford was the Racketeer Without Peer.
The average dub won't get the change, doesn't care about the change, is too lazy to THINK about the change, will along with any change.
many of us who were once jehovah's witnesses had a measure of happiness in our lives.
for me, i had a hope in the future, i had answers as to why we are all here, i believed in a loving god who looked after me and cared about me, i had answers to all of lifes big questions.. when i found out the truth about the witnesses, i was lost in a great big world and now had no answers other than the fact that what i once believed was "the truth" in actuality wasn't the truth.i now had to start all over in my search for truth.
for me, it wasn't long before i found what i thought was the truth since i always believed in the bible.
At the end of the movie Vanilla Sky, Tom Cruise's character is given a choice between an eternal lucid dream where everything is as he wants it for his eternal happiness
or he can wake up from the dream and live a real life. His choice? " I don't want to dream anymore. I want to live a real life."
The JW carrot was a dream, a fantasy. I am MUCH happier living a real life. I still have my faith, though. Religion and faith are not the same.
I'm happy to know the truth about the truth and grateful to you all who came before me and spoke up. Thank you Gumby, et al.
As for the future----- let's just say I feel lucky!

the april fools watchtower features "the bible :practical for life today".
and offers this jaw dropping thought:.
"do you feel that families would benefit from applying this advice?
The only time the WT isn't patting itself on the back is when it's kicking the publisher in the ass.
it is just getting like a rollercoaster ride with the changes going on at the wt society.
but it just don't surprise me as much as it used to.
i really believe that jw's will come up with a new doctrine of the "great crowd-a" (people going to heaven to help the 144,000) and a "great crowd -b" people staying on earth after armaggeddon.
I don't know about an "a" or "b" list great crowd. What more witness I know are certain about is this: They aren't going to be in the Great Crowd cause they are going to be
in the grave. There are hundreds of thousands of JW's older than 60. These know the truth of the hope the WT gave them. The literature keep pointing to the resurrection, not
Armageddon. The WT carrot was that you could avoid death and get to waltz into the arms of a waiting pet lion. That carrot is gone.
when i was a young and idealistic elder - the attitude that was stressed continually was this one :.
christiangreatnesscomesfromserving.
"among you, whoever wants to be great must be your servant."matt.
The good ones leave, BB. If you have a conscience, if you have compassion, if you love people, you leave the ORG. You cannot stay.

It's unbelievable to me that I could be a skeptic in my normal life and then have been such a rube when it came to religion. Geez! What an idiot I was!
How the hell did i beleive this stuff for so long? JRR Tolkin is INFINITELY believable next to these guys.

an ex-jehovahs witnesses planted a seed of doubt by stating that she felt to be a good .
witness an individual had to be a conformist.
Not directly in service, but after closing the field service meeting in prayer, an uber elder said to me:
"Every now and then you should thank Jehovah for the Org. that makes all this possible"
The text for that day was Matt. 28:19,20 where Jesus said "I will be with you...."
I thought the suggestion was just this guy's personality. Now I know why he said it. It didn't sit well with me, I was never
a company man.

how would you react to it?
naturally, this is all speculation because the .
Mistakes I can forgive. The WT isn't guilty of mistakes. It far deeper than that.

Great thread. They (the GB) can change anything when they want and just issue some unintelligible explanation and tell the R&F to accept it.
When you point out their inconsistencies you are labeled an apostate. When they try and adjust for those very same inconsistencies, they're
to be treated as "the oracles" of God Almighty. When you can't understand their "adjustments" or accept them as "truth" your are quickly
dispensed with as a trouble maker. To JW's, the GB hold all the cards and can re-shuffle and re-deal whenever they want.
