I hope it crumbles like the walls of Jericho! Reform? Hell no! To the ground, I say! That's where it belongs.

For those hoping to reform the Watchtower
by drew sagan inthere have been a number of posts discussing reform in the watchtower, mostly revolving around a letter on this thread.
i just wanted to put my two cents in on this issue.
because i am not attached to any of the main doctrines and teachings of the jws, i feel no personal need to reform them.

An Organization Made of Glass?
by metatron intake a look at most religions: if you change a doctrine here or there, it usually makes little difference.. you can be a catholic and take birth control.
you can believe in evolution and still be active in most.
protestant churches.. but what about the "truth"?

They themselves admit that a Witness must accept the entire range of Christian teaching "including those that are particular to Jehovahs Witnesses."--- Flock Book.
It is all or nothing. What many witnesses do is become de facto apostates by NOT accepting the entire range of teachings, but staying in because they consider
being a Witness better than being anything else. They are not interested in Truth, because if they were, then their whole paradigm would crack, as you said. It is
a house of glass, of cards, built on shifting sand. Only by DENYING the truth can a witness stay in. Emotionally and mentally I believe it is a heavy price to pay.

Time for a new great schism, apostasy, falling away, dissension?
by Awakened07 in"nineteen fourteen - nineteen schmorsteen" ?.
we've had some threads about this, but it seems the general consensus is that they cannot change the 1914 date - it is what the entire organization rests it's doctrine on.. but why do we say that, really?
at one time (and for many, many years), the years 1799 and 1874 were pivotal dates to the bible students.

The leaders know its all a crock. No one on the GB feels INSPIRED. What they feel is ENTITLED to do whatever they need to do in order to perpetuate the illusion of
God's One Sole Channel of Communication. Think of the hubris it takes to declare something like that. I think Ray was far too generous with them.

faithful and discreet slave
by bonnzo insome wonder why the fds is singular in mt 24:45-47 but then is described as a "class" of more than one by the wtbts.
our new do said this weekend at the circuit assembly that this has been done before by jehovah at isa 43:10: "you are my witnesses(plural),....my servant(singular).
he implied that the "slave"(singular) could be a group of people using this precedent.

Isaiah was written in Hebrew and Matt. was written in Greek. Wouldn't the two languages have different rules of grammar?
I say this because your DO's answer is typical JW response to a question. They never ANSWER the question, just use a strawman instead.

Is Eve automatically resurrected?
by yknot in1tim 2:14-15 adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression.
15however, she will be kept safe through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and sanctification along with soundness of mind.. so how do yall interpretate this scripture?.
is it saying that it was eve's fault, that adam was not deceived.

Paul was talking about Christian women of his day and used Eve to keep women down.
No authority for you! Females are NOT to be trusted. They need to be barefoot and pregnant!
The only apostle who never met Jesus, who participated in killing the disciples of Jesus, (and who apparently was a virgin) got to determine the rules for the Christian Church. Hmmmm?

What really matters now?
by nvrgnbk ini'm just getting back from the toronto fest.. more beautiful people one could not wish to find.. thanks to all, and in particular bumble bee and memario, for hosting.. while i was away, i see that trev lost linda.. my heart is broken.. and i see some stuff about dannyh hurting some elderly brothers?.
this board is so important to us supporting one another.. i think it's about love.. may we never allow ourselves to be consumed with hate or dedicate our lives to destroying something.. it's not hard to do if we dwell on what we lost.
but we win in so many ways when we celebrate the life we have now and new beginnings instead of hanging on to the past.. that's the best "revenge".. we all need to vent.. it's a critical part of deprogramming.. but i'm thankful to the good friends on here that gave me a heads-up when they saw me heading towards bitterness.

Thanks for the comments and photo.
Oddly, it was a Bible verse that sums up my view: What ever your hand finds to do, do!
We have today. We can always do our part to make it the very best day. I tell my friends when they ask
me "So, how are you?" that any day I'm looking up is a good day!
Peace.
