With true freedom there is nothing to carry around anymore. Carrying around a lot of do's and don'ts from any religion can only create stress. I'm glad that you have released the burden which was imposed upon you.

Stress and witoid life
by sinis infunny how witnoids used to preach that they currently lived in "spiritual paradise".
yea!
if you realy stop and think about it, witnoids are under more pressure and stress (dealing with real life and witnoid life) than those who are "worldly".

My sis calls & says,"Your dead"&"I wish you'd died in a car accident"(long)
by morwen inya know... i'm a bit amazed at times at how utterly out of touch with reality jw's can be.
here's a little bit of a background of what's been going on....
i've been having an on going issue with my jw family about my husband & i(and our 4 young children) no longer going to meetings and us having questions/problems with this religion.we are not df'd nor da'd (at this point) but have not been to a meeting in about 7 months and have been inactive for probably 3-4 years now.we haven't lived near my parents for several years so they have been a little "in the dark" so to speak as to us being inactive but we kinda were given a bit of "lee-way" since 5 yrs.

Morwen,
I usually skip the really long posts, but yours was just too riveting. I really admire your courage and conviction in the face of such insensitivity from your family. You have extricated yourself from the clutches of the JW's mindset; I only wish you didn't have the pain which your family is dumping on you. But, you know you have lots of friends and support here. And you also know that your happiness isn't dependent upon anything which they say or do.
ME: "As much as you worry about burning in hell is as much as I worry about dying at armageddon."
I just loved that line from you. poppers -

I'm sinking into depression and I can't seem to shake it
by Nellie inyesterday was my birthday - sunday is father's day.
we went out to dinner (my first celebration in over 30 years), my husband gave me a beautiful gift, my kids were great, my sister (who's baptized, but on shaky ground herself) sent me flowers and joined us .
i'm filled with sadness for all the missed years .

I'm filled with sadness for all the missed years . . . the years I should've sent my father a gift when he was alive, the years I should've celebrated with my mother and my own kids. I'm also filled with the sadness of losing my best friends, even though I have new friends - they don't understand what being in the org really means, and how it influenced the person I am today.
Aside from the biological factors which may be contributing to your state, you must understand something fundamental and obvious: There is no recovering the past, and the future is never here. Regrets about the past and anxiety about the future obscure the only thing which is real, the here and now.
Explore what it truly means to be in the present moment, fully and completely. Returning to the past through the mind or projecting into the future will blind you to what's actually unfolding before you, ever new and fresh. Sense your own existence and presence - there is great peace and fulfillment there which isn't dependent upon anything. Let the past be where it belongs, in the past. Let each moment unfold, as it will anyway, without worry or concern. YOU are here right now. Discover this You that is free from all ideas of you.

God Almighty!
by BlessedStar infunny how simple it is for people to trash god .
and then wonder why the world's going to hell.
how can we expect god to give us his blessing and his protection if we demand he leave us alone?

And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out.
When people turn what is called "god" into an image of themselves then "god" does all those things that an image is capable of. Is the fault in "god" or in the image that has been created and those who invest belief in that image?

"From the One That Loves Us" by: Estephan Leuese
by forgiveness ini told you today would be a day to remember did i not?
i know, weve withheld the day and hour from you but as i mentioned, it is only for those in the extreme reaches in authority to know the exact hour.. i lay back on my seat in my vehicle, as i have many times before, and a presence appears before me like before, but this time is different.
i feel my mind and body being filled with strength and vigor unlike before.

the Power of Prayer?
by darcy ini was reading through the 'why i hate god' thread', and reflecting on my own experience with prayer.
i think the one most... relieving?
point was when i realized that i when i prayed i wasn't really trying to talk to jehovah, but i was talking myself through my own life.

To pray puts into play two assumptions: that there is a someone who is praying, and there is a "god" to whom those prayers are directed. In most cases both assumptions aren't investigated. People may question the existence of god but they seldom question the existence of a separate and distinct entity known as "me". Who is this "me" anyway? Find out first if there really is a "me" beyond any mind generated ideas of "me" and then see if there is a need or desire to pray to a "god".

Infallibility of Scripture
by drew sagan inone of this biggest teachings present in mostly all christian denominations is the idea that the bible is infallibile.
my question is, where does the bible say this?
i know of many scriptures that point to the idea that what was written was directed by god, but where does the idea that what written is totally without error originate?

I have no specific place to place myself; and so -- I am free.
I'll drink to that. Will you join me?

JESUS AND ZEN
by onesong inin his book " the zen teachings of jesus",michael leong presents a very different way of understanding some of the things jesus taught--thru the eyes of eastern thought.. here's a couple of examples.
(he first explains that we should try to view jesus as a poet teaching us how to live beautifully.).
when jesus is questioned as to the greatest commandment and his reply "you must love god with your whole heart, mind and strength.

"Before Abraham was, I am." A zen koan if ever there was one. And who here, or anywhere else, can deny one's own sense of "I am"? This sense of "amness" is no different than what Jesus sensed, and is the very same "amness".

"I love it! Other then the no PM's on this site, I haven't come across anything else that doesn't work for me. It's super easy to use and quick to respond to everything I want it to do. I've got one and my boyfriend's brother has one and the rest of the family is so jealous."
Hey, thanks for responding to my question, and for the encouraging review. I've been wanting one for a while now, and have been waiting until all of the software gets updated. I'm not sure if I'll get the 17" monitor or really splurge and go for the 20".

damselfly said, "I've got an IMac and for whatever reason they don't go through to the other person."
So, damselfly, how do you like your iMac, other that that? I've been wanting one for some time now.
