I need some help from Christians that believe in science and the bible. I have been debating my college science professor. He feels that the bible contradicts itself and also feels that science proves the bible to be full of errors. One argument that he brought up was the fact that Christians believe that God created the heavens and earth in 6 days and then rested. He said ask any scientist it would have been impossible for God to create the universe in a matter of 6 days. My professor feels that the universe took billions of years to create. Also he brought up that according to the bible the earth is a few thousand years old possibly 6-10 thousand years old. He again brings up that most scientist believe the earth to be 4.5 billion years old. I was totally confused by now because I always thought that the earth was only 6 thousands year old. I know alot of my thinking is still Watchtower thinking but I have never heard what Christians feel about science and the bible. Do they contradict? Is my science professor correct when he feels that the bible is full of errors? Another example of a supposed error in the bible that he brought up was when Jesus says that the mustard seed is the smallest seed. My professor says this is clearly an error because there are seeds smaller then the mustard seed and Jesus made an error when he said this. He attacked the Hellfire doctrine as well. He made the point of since things melt when they are in sunlight what is going to be burned in hellfire that can last eternally? Also he argued that Born-Again Christians and JW's believe that you must accept Jesus Christ in order to be saved from Hell or Armaggeddon destruction. His question was what will Jehovah God and Jesus do with the millions of Jewish babies that have not accepted Christ as their Savior? Since they have not accepted Jesus will Jehovah send them to Hell or kill them at Armaggeddon when he specifically states that a person won't suffer for the sins of the parents. Babies are innocent and should not be destroyed because their parents were Jewish and did not believe in Jesus. I think trying to convince my professor that the Bible is correct is like trying to convince a dog not to chase a cat.

John 2:19, 20 and Naos
by IsaacHorwitz inthe best way for me to ask my question is to start out with a skit:.
jw: i agree that jesus is speaking of his body in john 2:19 when he calls it a temple (naos).
however, when the jews say that the temple was 46 years in the building, they use the word naos and are not refering to jesus body.

I have always thought that Jesus was only talking about his fleshly body and comparing with the temple building. He says that they can knock down the temple builing and rebuild it the same way his life can be terminated but restored in 3 days. If Jesus wanted the Jews to believe that his fleshly body was to be raised why did he not just say destroy this body and in three days I will raise it up? But he said destroy this "temple".

What are JW's leaders going to do when we hit the year 2014 and no Armaggdn
by booker-t inwe are fast approaching the year 2014 which will be 100 years since 1914. what are jw's and the wt going to do if armaggeddon has not occurred by then?
will they come up with a bunch of "new light" to do away with 1914 all together?
will they suddenly announce that jesus came into kingdom power in the year 2014?

Will they come up with a bunch of "new light" to do away with 1914 all together? Will they suddenly announce that Jesus came into kingdom power in the year 2014? This will buy them so much time if the starting point is puch up 100 years. I found out after I left JW's that they pushed up the 1874 date and made it 1914. That bought them 40 more years but Armaggeddon still did not come. So I was wondering what will they do. I sacasticly imposed this question on my mom who has been a devout JW since 1965 and she said that Jehovah is guiding the WT society so he will let the brothers at Bethel know what changes would need to be made. I just could not believe she is still defending the WT society even after all of their blunders.

Did anything violent happen at the KH or Bookstudy when you were a JW?
by booker-t ini will never forget when i was a jw and was attending the bookstudy on a mon night a man broke into the bookstudy which was in the elder's garage and pulled out a gun.
he shot the father of the jw teenage girl he was secretly dating.
apparently the girl's father had forbidden her to date this non-jw man in his 40's.

The girl was rebellous and ran off with this guy a few years later. She was disassociated from the congregation and I have not heard about her since. I ran into her kid sister the other day and her sister told me that the girl move to another state to be with this man. Her dad passed away last year but i will always remember that gun being pulled out and the gunshot noise. The police were called and the father was rushed to the hospital. The bullet nicked his arm and he wore a sling for awhile. I was wondering did anything violent ever happen in your KH or bookstudy?

What books are JW's studying in Book-Study and what will they next use?
by booker-t ina j'w friend of mine told me that jw's are studying the "pay attention to daniel's prophecies" book again.
isn't this the 4th time they have studied this book since it first came out in 1999?
why all of the fuss over this daniel book?

A J'W friend of mine told me that JW's are studying the "Pay Attention to Daniel's Prophecies" book again. Isn't this the 4th time they have studied this book since it first came out in 1999? Why all of the fuss over this Daniel book? Do they feel that Daniel's prophecies are being fulfilled today? I remember when I was still a JW's and the "Revelation Grand Climax book"came out in 1988 the JW's were buzzing because they were pushing Armaggeddon around the corner slogan again but would not put a "new"date in writing like 1975. I am sure that a "new"date is in the makings. What book will they study next after Pay Attention to Daniel's Prophecies book? Will they again go back and restudy the Revelation Grand Climax at hand book? They would have to delete all of the old light to fit in with the "new light" with the discarded 1914 generation doctrine(pre 1995 nov watchtower). What do you posters feel on this point?

The "Trinity" doctrine blasphemes Jehovah and Jesus.
by booker-t inthis is the last time i will post or read about the "trinity" doctrine because in my mind jehovah and jesus has enlightened me to see the real source of the so-called holy trinity.
satan is the originator of this unbiblical doctrine.
after i left jw's i felt i had to accept the trinity doctrine in order to be "saved".

This is the last time I will post or read about the "trinity" doctrine because in my mind Jehovah and Jesus has enlightened me to see the real source of the so-called Holy Trinity. Satan is the originator of this unbiblical doctrine. After I left JW's I felt I had to accept the Trinity doctrine in order to be "saved". Even though I felt the WTS was wrong on some of their doctrines I have always felt that they were right on the trinity doctrine. Now after careful prayer and biblical research I am totally convinced that the Trinity doctrine is a pagan-satanic doctrine that leads people away from Jehovah and Jesus and keep them in total confusion. I just wish ex-jw's would have the "guts" to admit it and stop letting born-again christians pull them around like puppets forcing a doctrine on them. If you feel that the trinity is true then stand firm for it but if you don't believe it don't just say you believe it to look good to born-again christians. They are not going to save you only Jehovah and Jesus will do that. I spent many years trying to believe in it because that is what born-agains told me I had to believe in. I gave up one authoritian group(JW's) for another authoritian group (BAC's) Now I believe in what I feel is right. Now back to the trinity and the reasons I believe it to be "false" and I do mean "false" are many reasons. First of all where in the entire bible does Jesus say he is God Almighty? Trinitarians always run to John 1:1 and say there it is. But reread the verse Jesus does not say he is God According to some bible translations St. John says the Word is God. But if you pick apart John 1:1 it actually denies Jesus is Jehovah. #1 it says in the "beginning" was the Word. Now why would John use the word "beginning" to describe the Word's existence unless he was conveying the thought as when the Word came into existence. Compare Gen 1:1 Where Jehovah creates the heavens and earth. I know of no trinitarian that would say the earth and the heavens are from eternity to eternity and they would point to the word "beginning" in Gen 1:1 to prove it but when it talks about Jesus they rapidly switch meanings so as not to contradict themselves. And also on John 1:1 How can the Word be "with" God and be God at the same time. BAC's always will answer this by saying that the Word is "with" God the Father. So my question to this answer would be for Trinitarians to show you from John 1:1 that the Word is with God the Father and not God the Holy Ghost? If God is three persons how can one tell if the Word is with God the Father or God the Holy Ghost? I have yet to find a BAC's to answer me on this point. They will usually argue that the Book of John is talking about Jesus and The Father. But my question again is for Trinitarians to show me from verse one it is God the Father and not God the Holy Ghost? To me trinitarians are really "Polytheist" believing in 3 Gods and not One as they say they believe in. John 1:2 would be totally unnecessary if John 1:1 proved the Word to be God. Because it says This one was in the beginning with God. ST John seems to be saying that the Word is totally different from the one who he is with not the same person. Some bibles make it very clear when they say the Word is divine or what God was the Word was. This shows that the word had divine origins. When you show a trinitarian Exodus 7:1 and they see that Moses was called God by Jehovah himself I have had some trinitarians argue that Moses was a "false" god. Then my question to them would be Did Jehovah use "false" gods and "false" Saviors if Moses was a false god? Moses was also called "savior" and I would take trinitarians to Isaiah 43:11 where Jehovah says there is "no" Savior with him or after him. So my question to Trinitarians would be Was Moses and Jehovah one and the same? Was Moses a "false" or "true" savior or "false" or "true" god? I turn their own question on them when they play word semantics by always asking Was Jesus a "false" god or "true" god? They have a hard time answering the questions about Moses being true or false but are quick to say Jesus is Jehovah because if there is only one true god then Jesus by JW's definition would be false. That is circular reasoning and can get BAC's into alot of trouble if you throw it back into their faces with Moses. I love to use circular reasoning on BAC's about "worship of Jesus". They just love to point out that Jesus received worship and therefore must be Jehovah God because Christians are only to worship Jehovah. But what about King David in the Old testaments that received worship? BAC's will immediately say that King David did not receive worship like Jehovah but only homage, honor or obeisance. I love to show them the verse in Rev 2:9 where Jesus says he will make the people in the synagogue of Satan come and worship at the disciples feet. Most Born-agains are totally blown away by this verse and say that "proskeno" that is rendered worship in the King James Version should be rendered obeisance. They are always condemning JW's for rendering "proskeno" as obesiance but when it suit BAC's they feel it is justified. Because if you leave it as worship in Rev 2:9 Jesus would be saying that his disciples are really Jehovah God because they would be receiving "worship".

Do you think that JW's leaders are going to announce a new date in 2006?
by booker-t ini was reading a thread here the other and it mentioned that the assembly for 2006 will be "delivance at hand".
is this going to be like 1974 when every jw's thought the end was going to come in 1975?
i don't think jw's leaders would be that stupid again and build jw's for another date-setting letdown.

I love this website because it keeps me so informed on the workings of the WT society that I feel so strong when JW's approach me on the street with their know it all arrognance and I know something that they don't know. Keep up the good work JW's that post here and are undercover you keep us all informed. My whole family is still stuck in the WT and you give me the ammo that I can use when they talk to me.

With the new Disfellowshipping procedure, How will the congo know who left?
by booker-t inwith the "new" way jw's are expelled from the congregations how would the congregation know who left on their own(disassociated) themselves or was disfellowshipped for "wrongdoing".
when i left the elders told me that they would tell the congregation that i "disassociated"my self and that would be that.
the whole congregation would know that i left on my own and was not expelled for immorality or wrongdoing.

When I left the elders told me that they would tell the congregation that I "disassociated"my self and that would be that. The whole congregation would know that I left on my own and was not expelled for immorality or wrongdoing. But now when JW's want to leave they are announced "no longer one of JW's" so everyone will assume the person committed some sort of wrongdoing. Was the old way causing alot of lawsuits and that is why the change in expelling someone from the congregation? Or is this another way JW's leaders are trying to present themselves to the Govt that they are not a "cult" that throws its members out for anything? Are they trying to make their "shunning"policy less cultlike and more acceptable to the public? I have always had a problem with the shunning policy when I was a good JW's. I just don't think it is christ like to treat former members like dirt on your shoe. Only Jehovah and Jesus should be judging humans not people. Do you think JW's leaders will eventually do away with the announcing and shunning former JW's in the congregations all together? Or will they continue to shun and expell members? Posters what are your thoughts on this. I would like to hear especially from JW's elders or former elders since they know the behind the door mentality of JW's elders.

Do you know of any "baptized" JW's that died of Aids from Homosexuality?
by booker-t ini remember this big family in my old hall that i grew up in the late 70s and there was a young brother that was very good looking and all the young sisters in the hall wanted to date him.
i was about 13 or 14 at the time and did not know much about gays and lesbians but somehow i felt this young brother was gay.
i just could not put my finger on it but just minded my own business.

I was about 13 or 14 at the time and did not know much about gays and lesbians but somehow I felt this young brother was gay. I just could not put my finger on it but just minded my own business. Years later his family had moved away to another hall and I did not see him anymore after that. About 10 years ago I met the best friend of this young brother's sister at my Job and after we talked for months we realized that we knew some of the same JW's. It was funny because I was DA'd and she was DF'd. So we became real good friends like brother and sister. One day she told me that she was going to a funeral for her best friends brother and I asked her what was his name and she said so and so Jones. I almost fell out of my chair because it was the brother that I used to go to the KH with in the late 70's. His family had moved to my coworkers KH and that is where this family still goes. My coworker left the JW's years ago but her best friend still talks to her. My coworker told my that so and so Jones was a homosexual and got married to "straighten" out himself but was secretly having gay affairs behind his wife's back. She had to be tested for the Aids virus but was "negative". I began to wonder just how many JW's have died of Aids from Homosexuality? The WT paints JW's as perfect little angels. And I believed that for many years until I woke up and left.

Do you think that JW's will "reverse" their 1914 generation doctrine back?
by booker-t ini was looking at the news the other day and they had a 100 yr old man that went water-skiing for his 100th birthday.
now i was just thinking like a jw and somehow they might say "that 100 year old man would be of the 1914 generation so there are probably millions like him still alive" so if there is lets say a million 100 year old now living do you think that the wt leaders might think that they abandoned ship to quick when they disregarded the 1914 generation doctrine in 1995?
how many 100 years olds are around today?

Can we expect to see a future "reversal" to the "old light" once again?
