Why is there a High Rate of Suicide among Jehovahs Witnesses?????

hi guys.

last week i was involed in a very distressing situation, going with a family to identify their mother who had commited suicide.. we are waiting for the coroner to release the body for the funneral.. but, so far this year a number of jw have commited suicide in england,why???.

can any one throw a light why so many jw of good standing commit suicide,.

very simple really.

since my last post in 2004 i have attempted suicide twice. once by overdose of medication resulting in hospitalisation in intensive care and second time by shooting myself in the heart. survived that one as well after open heart surgery.

why would i do this?

JW teaching says that when you die you go to the grave until you are resurrected and given a second chance but this time under perfect conditions for a thousand years. so if life gets to hard as it did for me going though DF and divorce and bankruptcy then why not use the get out of jail free card.

of course now that i know the REAL truth i would never do this again. and besides, new wife, new church, new job......life is good.

JW have been lied to about what happens after death so they do not fear death.

mental abuse really.

HELP! Urgent advice needed - Child Custody - JW Mother

my partner ('beaker' on jwd) & i are having rapidly escalating child custody issues.

(see previous thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/71815/1.ashx) tonight when the kids (7 & 9 yrs) were dropped back to their mother's she announced that his access was going to be further reduced as of now.. she is very nasty anyway, constantly regeging on previous arrangements & given the borg stuff is also thrown in the mix my partner is going to try for full custody.

the solicitor (who has worked on previous jw cases) we have consulted with does not think we can bring the jw stuff up with a judge.

hello all

catlady has kindly sought your advice on my behalf. things weren't going to bad until the ex realised how many sunday meetings the kids were missing by being with me. now she wants to limit my contact to two hours per week so that i cant influence them against the jw's. she has even gone to the point of planning really fun things to do for the kids when they are supposed to be with me so that they want to stay with her.

i am supposed to have them this weekend but a congregation bushwalk is taking precedence. this is all becoming very tiring. thank you all for your words of encouragement and support.

It hit the fan tonite...

i picked up my kids from my ex (still jw) tonite.

she wanted to come and get them back off me on sunday morning so she could take the meeting and every sunday meeting.

of course i wasn't going to agree to that so she said that she wanted them every second weekend so they could go to the meeting.

I said that wasn't going to happen so she tried to get them out of the car so they wouldn't come with me. I had to l;ock the doors and almost drive over her to get out of the driveway. I sent this email when i got home:

The only custody agreement i will agree to is as follows

You have the children for the first weekend of every month and i have them every other weekend from 4pm on friday to 5pm on sunday. I have the children for half of the school holidays to fit in with my work commitments.

if you do not agree to this i will petiton the family court for full custody.

In support of my application i will cite the following. You are violently abusive to the children.( throw phone book at havannahs face and cut her nose).You yell and scream all the time (children will testify to that if questioned by a pschologist). You swear all the time(children will testify to that if questioned by a pschologist). You are inhibiting their education by removing them from school if non witness activities are observed. You are forcing them to go to meetings against their wishes(children will testify to that if questioned by a pschologist).You are forcing them to go door to door against their wishes(children will testify to that if questioned by a pschologist). You are hindering their social developement by not allowing them to associate with non witness children. You force the children to live in filthy conditions(children will testify to that if questioned by a pschologist). Witnesses encourage children to lie if it is not in the interests of the church (see Theocratic Warefare).You are mentally abusing the children by making them feel guilty for learning about non witness beliefs. You are mentally abusing the children by making them feel guilty for observing birthdays and christmas. It is also the practice of witnesses to cover over child molestors and protect peodophiles. Things had been amicable until now as she is starting to pushe the witness thing. I can see it's going to get legal. Does anybody know where i can get a copy of the book "Preparing children for custody cases" from?

there was a great response to my request for thoughts on the cross or the stake for chapter 1. there is plenty of information there for me to compose into a single fact sheet.. while reading another post where jana posted a letter she had written to her mom, i read something quite extroidinary.

in explaning the changes the wts make about certain policies she wrote this:.

Even after having been a JW all of my life i was astounded that there could be so many changes in position about something as horible as rape.(Logic and love would dictate to me that you would provide as much support as you can to such a victim). So anyway, that brings me to chapter 2 of the TRUTH for dummies which i would like to title "New Light".

Any thoughts on your favourite (or not so favourite) change in the "truth" due to the light getting brighter.

Our first birhtday!!!

yesterday i had my kids for the weekend.

it was my 7 year old boy's birthday.

the kids live with the ex who is still a jw so she is still pushing the hard line with the kids.

Yesterday i had my kids for the weekend. It was my 7 year old boy's birthday. The kids live with the ex who is still a JW so she is still pushing the hard line with the kids.

We gave the boy a suprise party with a cake and presents. He loved it. He was so exicited that he rang his mother and told her all about it last night. It couldn't have gone better.

My daughter has her 9th birthday in two weeks. She is also looking forward to having a party.

I am just so excited to be able to give my kids the life i never had.
