Y, your picture looks more like the target practice of the governing body trying to come up with the bullseye for the real "new light". Oh I forgot they are just "imperfect men". Guess we could use that lame excuse on all religions and follow basic rule of human kindness. Your depiction shows the mean spiritedness that the JW's show towards all others not of them. Intolerance and the wish for death and destruction of others not of their own. Geesh sounds like the Taliban to me.

Christendom will NEVER hit the mark!
by Yadirf inhere's a representation of how many times that christendom has hit the bullseye with regards to knowing what the bible teaches.
she teaches that man has an immortal soul; that heaven is the only destiny of the "saved" (no paradise earth then); that jesus and his father are co-eternal/equal (that jesus had no beginning); they say that what jacob and his mother did was bad; political envolvement (part of the world); loves pagan holidays; thinks that god produced the star of bethlehem;thinks that the commission to preach only applies to the clergy and not to the laity; etc., etc., etc.. .
christendom considers herself to be christ's representatives.

Christmas
by ARoarer inhey everyone, i am thinking of having a tree this year for the very first time since i stopped going to the kh.
although i am not disfellowshipped and i have not written a letter to disassociate, the closest friends i have had over the years as a witness have all chosen to avoid me and my family unless we return to the hall.
unofficial shunning by those who we have loved.

Thankyou all for the thoughts about Christmas. Mommy Dark I love your thinking, Xena, Judith, Mom, everyone. I also have thought of some of the concerns that Tom has raised. The situation with my family will definitely be affected if the elders come. They have nothing better to do with thier lives. I am taking the beginning steps to recaputure my mind, my heart and my spirituality, new and healthy ways. Farkel mentioned in a post on Christmas, another view, how dysfunctional the Watchtower views are. Family values and connections are totally distorted and twisted. I am so glad to have seen this. Yes the lessons learned from the experiences in WT have been painful but better to have suffered the lessons and learn and heal then to stay within the corporate religion that strips its members of every shred of identity, and family connectedness. I have seen first hand the way family has been ravaged by WT's demand for corporate loyalty and secrecy. Yet I am grateful for the endurance and strength I and my family have learned from it. I have learned what evil is and goodness is not. I think this time of year will be healing whatever level I choose to participate in. Again thankyou all for sharing your thoughts.

Fark,
I like your view of Christmas and am glad you are now celebrating it with a vengeance!. Yes it is time for me and my family to recapture our minds our hearts and our spirituality. Exploring the things the publishing corporation forbade us to do. Yes, you are absolutely right Farkel. Jehovah's Witnesses have truly sold thier souls to the corporation. The Alter of the Mindless, Heartless Corporate High Priests. I choose the family connections, future newly made traditions, wonderful sights and smells and the look on childrens faces. No more dysfunction. -

Thanks Xena, I hope your little one will love Santa's lap. Yes I do know what you mean about not being sure about cutting ties yet. I think that is what has kept us from doing it. But the reality is that those of our cherished friends did that already. A powerful lesson in recognizing the difference between conditional and unconditional love. It was key in helping me to begin to move on and form new relationships not dependent on the Kingdom Hall. And an awesome feeling to be accepted and invited to parties for ourselves and not based on intolerance of religious choices in matters of conscience.

In the case of our country being attacked, and our schools being bombed and national buildings like the World Trade Towers being, pulverized, and small pox being dumped on us, I personally believe President Bush must make this statement. You are either for us or against us. He is basically a kind moral man trying to protect our homeland the best way he can. Yes we are being threatened by the "evil ones" as he has said. And these evil ons are thugs who murder their own woman and children. They are uncivilized and every civilized country who values freedom and respect for woman and children and educates thier youth must take President Bush's statement seriously. You are either for us or against us is very simple. Even the Bible book of Romans speaks of the Superior Authorities in their positions to act as "God's Avenger against those who commit wrong" Yes, may God bless the Superior Authority, America as it goes after the evil that threatens our children and grandchildren not just in this country but every other civilized country who values it's families and thier children. And God Bless the men and women who are willing to lay down their lives in behalf of us and our children and all the children of the nations that were represented in those World Trade Towers. Greater love has no man then to lay down their life in behalf of another. And may God Bless President Bush and give him courage and wisdom to do and carry out what needs to be done to ensure the safety of us in our homeland.

Hey everyone, I am thinking of having a tree this year for the very first time since I stopped going to the KH. Although I am not disfellowshipped and I have not written a letter to disassociate, the closest friends I have had over the years as a Witness have all chosen to avoid me and my family unless we return to the Hall. Unofficial shunning by those who we have loved. I know that once they see a tree, they will feel justified now to treat us as if disfellowshipped. However, all the years I was a devout witness, I always dreaded Christmas. That is because I had loved it so much before becoming a JW. I remember the last Christmas I celebrated was very hard. The witnesses told me that it was 'too bad if your family gets offended, is it better to offend Jehovah'. In those days my mom worked nights and depended on me to decorate the tree. So rather than listening to the witnesses I trimmed it for the last time before getting baptized so that my mom could come home from work and see it all lit up. After that I got baptized and for the Christmases following, I would always have a houseful of "friends from the Hall" on that day as we isolated from those family members celebrating Christmas. But no matter how hard I tried to compensate for not celebrating, I would always feel sad that time of the year as I watched the lights and all the excitement in the air at that time. The memories of Christmas spirit were always in my heart. Now, years later my mom is passed away and never got to enjoy Christmas with me the way she used to before I became a JW. I wish she were alive today so I could tell her how sorry I am for taking that away from her. Now, even though my children have chosen to stop going to the KH, I still feel regret, that although we had many happy "gatherings" and gift giving on "special days" other than holidays, they never knew the wonderful joy Christmas brings. You don't have to spend a lot of money to do that. It is the family togetherness and wonderful smells and lights that trigger this feeling. This year Christmas will be new for our family, and although I don't expect our children to be putting a Christmas tree up, they are finding ways to enjoy this season anew. Now out of the Borg, our family will begin to start new traditions and memories and this is something to look forward to. But I also forsee the JW's giving us a hard time since my children have married JWs even though they are no longer attending meetings and will never go back. It should be interesting, but I no longer will have fear of man. I have researched Christmas in a new way and have come to realize it is not as evil as WT teaches. The real ugliness is the WT. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I really need to get some encouragement with this decision and it's reprecussions.

It's up to your conscience
by Marilyn inthese words were done to death when i was a witness.
is it still a popular turn of phrase?
later it was slightly changed to "your bible trained conscience".
-
ARoarer
Marilyn, if you did listen to your own conscience, if it didn't go along with the WT thinking then you had a "seared conscience". Either way you can't win. I think what has been so healing since I stopped going is the way my conscience is more attuned to what seems wrong and what seems right. No longer to I depend on WT to be "master over my faith".

Hi Meta,
This is a good time to expose the WT as a punishing, religion with many of the similarities in it's fundamentalistic rules directed towards women and children and men who want to protect them. People have their eye on the religious fanatacism that the Taliban enforced those to live by which was rooted in hatred towards those who did not submit resulting in death sentences. Local newspapers should be aware of the teachings that Jehovah's Witnesses teach against other religions. Intolerance is wrong, and religious persecution is wrong. The implied permission to hate all people is seen in the pictures of smiling faces looking at burning buildings, and churches seen in thier literature. Neighborhoods should know this fact just as surely as they should know a pedophile is allowed to come to thier doors. -

Don't cooperate with their SHUNNING you!
by bluesapphire inmy dub sister planned this little event to see the lion king.
she invited my two other sisters and their families and purposely left me out.
when my family asked about me, she just shrugged her shoulders -- the little hypocrite couldn't "stumble" them by telling them she was shunning her own sister.

Hi Blue, You are doing what I have been doing and it truly is empowering. Without a "victim" to shun, and their "enablers" who obey the rule of shunning, the Watchtower's is unable to perpetrate and bully those who choose not to follow their mean-spirited rules.
