That was crazy. Lucky doesn't begin to explain what that was. Not only did he survive the crash, but he survived a 50' fall out of a tree. Unbelievable.

this thread was going to be about the true church.
but i simply changed the title.
okay ... so my experience thread set the stage for what seems to be a need to debate catholicism ... maybe because in the minds of many, there is a comparison to the watchtower ... a comparison which i believe is false.
if you want my defence of the LDS faith you won't find me doing it from the flawed bible alone - I hate reasoning from that divider of christians - we all have our favourite quotes and proofs and yet the book cannot be used to effectively clarify anything since we never can agree on what even one verse actually means.
That is the crux of the matter. Christians can't agree on one verse, so how can they possibly maintain that the bible is a clear guide to worshiping God? If the bible were that clear, or "inspired", then there is no way there could be this much confusion or disagreement. I don't say this to be difficult, or to cause trouble. I say it from the perspective of someone who tries to read everything they can, including an entire thread about something I no longer believe in, just to keep an open mind. I have seen nothing that would change my view of Christianity, or the bible. It is all still a myth that people cling to for comfort, or out of fear.

ive been "in the truth" ever since i was 6 years old when my mother was baptised in the late 70`s.
so i sort of got dragged along to the meetings and therin started the indoctrination that was to prove to be my undoing.
ive been reading this page for a while now and read some very slick posts from dissillusioned ex members.
Well said Salmon, and welcome to the forum!

i hope this finds everyone well.
i feel like i am doing something wrong but i really don't care anymore, i've had enough.
i am 4th generation, born 22 years ago and raised a witness and need out.
Welcome GoTan! You said:
The thing is i have no idea how to go about leaving.
I don't think many people do have an idea how to go about leaving. I sure didn't and it felt very wrong for me to decide to stop going to the meetings. It took a long time for me to even admit to myself that I was done for good. The good news is that feeling goes away.
As for how to leave...take a deep breath and celebrate that you have come this far. Don't be in a rush to make a decision right away because both choices have implications that you need to consider carefully. Now that you have posted here you can at least feel the relief that you are addressing things. You will know what the right decision is for you if you carefully consider all options. I look forward to hearing more from you on the forum.

i invited my mom two months ago to my wedding.
she never responded and then today i get this.
what do you think of my reply?
Renee,
Very nice letter...very loving. The only thing that I would say is in response to this:
I was talking about the future relationship I WILL have. The one with my kids .. her grandchildren. I hope she catches that.
When I read your letter I thought you were talking about your In-Laws when you said that you would have new family to love. Only you know if your mother will pick up on the real meaning or not, but you might want to clarify the children/grandchildren angle so that your mom does not walk away with the wrong thought.

i have finally had a little time to pause for some reflection, lately been either sick(flu) or fighting fatigue to get work done while sick with the flu.. one of my favorite pastimes is to tune into jwd and read all your arguements for and against things of the paranormal nature, mysticism, evolution, and things like these.
i do enjoy those that are of a scientific shaped logic and lean more heavily towards some of their well thought out replies, i see them as open minded for the most part, and know i would never be able to research to the degree they do the subject of evolution and patiently try to deal with some rather set in their ways creationist.
they have brought a wealth of information to our board, that no doubt help many rid themsevles of the god(of the bible) delusion, a rather mean and nasty delusion that many jws need to shake to make thier coming out of mind control more complete.. while i have given up on the god delusion pretty completely, i have not become a complete materialist.
Interesting experiences zensism...keep 'em coming, don't be afraid. I find them quite interesting and enjoy reading the experiences of those that are further along the path than I am. I know I am missing some things, but learn every time someone talks about their journey. Great thread!

warning posting while drunk.
why is jesus so interested in his second coming going to be in america?
why did god bury books made of gold in america that only can be translated inside some hat?
Well yes they are all cults even the Moderates, the soccer moms et al. They all want you to follow their interpretations, they are not forgiving of you interpreting things yourself.
That is a ridiculous statement, and I am one of the biggest critics of the Christian movement. Even though I am not fond of the Christian religion, I would never say that they are cults (although some are..ie JWs). It is just another way of spiritual expression. Different paths for different people. It might help if you opened your mind a little and allowed for differences.

what would happen if a congregation or two decided not to pay back their kingdom hall loans?
Actually JWs can sue each other in certain cases, i.e., car accidents.
The technicality is that when you sue for car accidents you are actually sueing the insurance company, not the "brother" so the Borg says it is OK. The real joke is that the Society "self-insures" so if you have an accident at an assembly hall they pull out the "you can't sue a brother" routine. It would be funny if it were not so tragic.
