Once more something is correct if done up to a certain point and when that limiting point is not (or apparently is not) clearly defined in the Bible the WTS exploits it to make mountains out of mole hills just as they did with sanctioning "wrongdoing".
I am sure the apostles would object to radical ideas such as the teaching that Christ was never really crucified or that there is no resurrection of the dead ever, but apart from this I can't imagine them being against free speech and debate.

Sunspot you can save vital info on a CD every so often to spare yourself a lot of heartache in case things go wrong in the computer.
The process is dead simple and I use a Re writable CD to record and up date files with vital info. -

Generation of 1914 gone!
by Gill inis the generation that saw 1914, now dead and gone?.
if they were born in 1900, they'd be 105 now and there are not many of these people left.. if they were born in 1914 they'd be 91 and there are not many of these left either.. can we say that the early light of russell and rutherford, and nathor knowrr is well and truly disproved?.
can we say it's just a matter of time before the new light is also disproved?.

The whole concept of a 1914 final generation was wrong and based on absurd arbitrary calculations, even involving occult arts, and when time proved it wrong they tried to salvage it by coming up with the unnatural and strained concept of the non literal generation, after having claimed for over a century that it was a literal one. Is that what Jesus had in mind when he was talking about the generation of the end?
Since they have a very long history of deceiving people anything they say is untrustworthy in the extreme. -

Elder Criticizes Going To Get Together If A Worldly Person Is There!
by minimus inmy mom told me that an elder said in his public talk on sunday that we need to stay separate from the "world".
evidently, the buzz is that there was a part being given by an unbelieving husband that has been recently attending meetings with his wife.
the issue was not that this man invited most of the congregation and they went (including the elder and his family) but that one fellow unbelieving husband who is being studied with did not get invited because he was "worldly and still smokes".

Like the Pharisees they became very obsessed with purity and separate themselves off. But Jesus did associate at times with the "sinners"
The problem is that the JWs don't act flexibly as christians but rigidly as Jews under the Mosaic law. Deviate a little to the left or the right and you are sanctioned. -

Were/Are you afraid to read the Watchtower Publications?
by LyinEyes ini have to confess that i was a bit afraid to even touch any new jw publications for so long.
i know it sounds so silly but i was afraid if i read something in them, i might get brainwashed again.
it was hard for me to admit that i was so brainwashed as one of jw's.

I haven't got the time otherwise it would be fun to read them and write critiques on them.
Basically we know that they write things in a way that is calculated to give the impression that are dead serious about promoting christian values and culture yet we know that they themselves are totally irrelevent to them. It would be great to use their own writings to show this. -

The Right To Judge Others
by FairMind inyesterday our visiting elder-public speaker, cautioned against judging others.
he made allowance though for elders to judge or analyze the non-elders in the congregation.
i have always felt that distinctions based on position in the congregation are wrong.

Flash is right, there are degrees of judging people and its ok to do so up to a certain point it's then like offering polite advice to others, but if you begin to impose sanctions that's where the complications begin, is it right to sanction people and to what extend, and it's in grey areas like this with no clear biblical guidelines that the WTS messes around with people by being excessively judgemental eg by claiming that smoking makes a person deserving of eternal damnation to death.
It's always the old principle of capitalising on people's ignorance. -

People are really keen to see the end of this world and the coming of a new much better one and the JWs since the days of Russell have been expert at manipulating this eagerness to their own ends.
The problem is that when people are in the grip of intense emotion the critical faculty (blinded by their sentiments) does not function as it should and they can easily be taken out on a very very long ride. That's why the WTS feels that it can continue setting dates despite its abysmal past record of total failure in this field. They know how to play with people's hearts, that's how shameless they are. -

As with all other organisations (and individuals) we have to look at the overall balance of good and harm they have done to society.
In the case of the WTS the harm done far outweighs the good eg they helped in promoting freedom of speech in the country yet in their own society they have totally suppressed it. Their environment makes for more stable families yet they have ruined thousands with their disfellowshipping concept.
If you are to give with one hand and take away with the other what's the point? In that case being good is only an appearence and a subtle deception in the spirit of babylon the great. -

How many Remnant are left? Anyone know?
by Golden Girl ini was just reading something and got to wondering..does anyone know how many of the remnant are left?
isn't "the end" supposed to come when they are all gone?.
and how can they be leading the faithful and discreet slave if they live in our area?

Sonnyboy that's precisely my question, why does God choose those annointed what did they do in their lives to be so favoured what are the criteria to become annointed?
Or are people chosen totally at random? -

That's the problem with the JWs they have always been extremely judgemental as well as dogmatic and could not understand that an obsession with judging others is very anti christian "Don't judge so as not to be judged"
