It sounds like more sensationalist made up news to create a lot of excitement and publicity. Some people can't get over this temptation.

by Erace ini haven't heard about it, but what about them dead sea scrolls that were found years ago?
since i haven't seen them yet, i can't help wonder if it's even true that such scrolls were found.

Im confused about the Trinity, and who believes it Help please
by WingCommander injust to recap, ive had a nice baptist pastor stopping by my house about once a month for the past 8 months.a very kind soul, we always have the most interesting discussions.him learning about how i was raised as a jw and their belief system, and i learning about his being born again, the trinity, heaven, views on armageddon, etc.
it has all been very interesting, me being raised a jw and now hearing what another denomination believes, especially about the 144,000 and why they feel it isn't a literal number.
also, i am on his regular "field ministry,", and this is shocking to me as i was always taught the other religions don't go door to door like us, with the exception of mormons - lds.. anyway, he made the comment to me that very view christian denominations did not believe in the trinity.he stated that really only small handful of denominations such as jws, mormons, and a few other cultic types dont accept the trinity.this was shocking to me, because asjw i always believed most everyone outside of catholicism and lutheranism believed as jw did, that jesus was gods son, and a totally separate created being.

True most Christian religions believe in the Trinity and very few marginal groups believe otherwise. I am a non trinitarian but I can see why they all belive in it, it's their way of not being accused as believing in two Gods since apart from the Father the Son is also described as being Divine.
The Apostle Paul clearly thought the Son is subordinate to the Father. The Trinitarians themselves can't understand their doctrine how three persons can be separate yet one at the same time. -

Isn't shunning a violation of the rights of family members? To be exluded from a religion is one thing but to be excluded from one's own family is quite another and very criminal. A religion can do the first but not the second.

Can you be grateful for the lives of your kids but not grateful to god
by jambon1 inthis may or may not make sense.. i am an atheist.
i have issues with there not being a creator because of the beuty of life and especially my children.
but, for me, their are just to many negative things about 'creation' to be 100% about this belief.

Who will you be grateful to for your children or anything good in life for that matter if you are an atheist? Certainly not to a creator and mother nature is just a figure of speech, not a person.
I am not an atheist and the belief of Christian theists is that creation is in a fallen state hence all the chaos and problems and suffering. Hopefully a temporary situation.
God as presented by the JWs is not necessarily the real God but rather a caricature of Him and a total distortion of His true image and character. -

If You're Thinking About Getting Out, Be Careful Who You Confide Doubts To

i wouldn't trust most anybody.

True enough the JWs are trained to fear and scorn anyone with doubts and to report them to elders, at times the JW world feels like a police state.
It's just as the FDS wants it: if you have doubts then don't express them, don't try to act subversively against the god appointed leadership. -

Were The Elderly & Infirm Truly Given Assistance In Your Hall?
by minimus inour congregation had a number of elderly ones who regularly complained that no one ever helped them.
since the elders didn't really want to be responsible for them, they decreed that the family should help out first.
fair enough.

As far as I know they didn't and they are not likely to have done so due to the lack of solidarity between them, their focus was mainly on preaching which had such a priority before the supposed very-soon-to-be armageddon.
That's more manipulation there, more preaching promotes the interests of the WTS by increasing the sales of their products. -

Why the Governing Body Calls Us "Apostates"
by t33ap80c inwhy the governing body calls us "apostates".
in their article about "propaganda" the governing body explains that one of the "tricks and tactics" that "cunning propagandists" use is "name-calling".
"name-calling slaps anegative, easy-to-remember label onto a person, a group, or an idea.

This is something the JWs should notice why are their leaders so afraid of open public debate with ex JWs or non JWs if they are so convinced that they are the supreme spiritual elite who lead the only true religion in this world.
Surely something doesn't add up there why do they lock themselves in the security of their Brooklyn tower and refuse to debate while sending the R&F to argue with people at their homes or in the streets? -

They greatly fear ex JWs that disagree with their doctrines because they know that they are hopelessly weak and indefensible before someone that knows them well.
Hence the negative label that will turn people away from them. In fact it is very easy to prove that the JWs are the real apostates who embrace some really wacky, creepy ideas. -

The JW experience....is the soul ever healed?...A BIG RANT.
by restrangled ini just wrote about my life between 11 and 12......i am now 48 years old.
it came back to me in huge drowning waves that i cannot describe.
the anger, depression, humiliation..... do any of us ever get to recover totally?

It should heal with the right actions and attitude, it's really important to develop social relationships in the non JW world, or associate with support groups.
Do you know what is it specifically from the JW past that blocks you eg is it certain of their ideas that prevent you from seeing the non JW society as normal? Is it the (baseless) fear of armageddon?
